Lmao😂 🤣
74Weld boys are smashing it out of the park!
“Men”
@@Fabianblanc0i stand corrected!
Stoked to be a part of this build! You guys are crushing it. Brenan? Not so sure about that guy.
I've been watching your videos a while, but I didn't realize you guys were in Sacramento. You guys do good work. I have a great seasonal job 8-9 months a year up north, or I'd hit you up for joining your team. 30+ years as GM & Toyota Master Tech plus lots of offroad experience.
Moma said portal onwers are always angry cause they got all that clerance but no travel...
Can’t you install portals on LT suspension too? Aren’t those two different variables (they are not mutually exclusive). 1) the steering knuckle 2) the suspension travel? You can have portals on stock suspension. You can have portals on long, travel suspension. It’s like saying having air-conditioning on a truck means you can’t have long travel.? wtf ?
@ahmadalanjary2020 1. Stearing is already heavy with LT. 2. Good luck finding a stearing rack that will hold up to LT and portals. 3. Cost. 20k in portals plus let's say 13k for good LT kit. Lol 33k. Could SAS with rear stear for less. 4. Portals are a fad and they will burn out just like they did in the sxs market. High maintenance with shitty performance.
@@chasewyant1540right Right, with 20k I’d rather put that into LT suspension and other things … I’m just saying , the logic holds technically. Can have both things , they are independent of each other. you can have portals as well with a solid front axle (SAS like you were saying). Not sure about shitty performance, ultra 4 cars rock them , some awd trophy trucks , and UTVs …
@chasewyant1540 is that why theyre still around after originally coming out in the 50s? Because theyre a fad
@randomxproductions9594 I don't care how long they have been around they ain't gunna do shit for your stock tacoma or bronco. Sure people like u will buy them and take pics in your driveway with a 5 gallon bucket under your truck and go on about all the clerance u got and how your ready for the weekend. Portals on solid axles fucking awesome, portals on long travel fucking awesome. Portals on stocks IFS ain't going no where... since I posted this comment 4 months ago the hype has already faded.
Such a sick rig! Love those 74weld portals I need someee 👌🙈🇨🇦
The clearance is insane! Nice job guys!
Thank you !
Definitely saving up for portals 🤘🏽
Looks so good!
These portals are sooooo sick definitely a dream build tacoma would be sick
lulz
ua-cam.com/video/sL-FBwsjv1E/v-deo.html
Sweet rig!
This is sick!!! The sickest 4runner out there
Thanks Dude!!
Jailbreak overland, Sandy Cats, or RSG’s 40Runner are the sickest
Definitely got a case of 'Runner Envy' now!! If I wanted to build mine like this, conservative costs be like: Portals: $20K , Wheels: 1.2K, Tires: 1.2K, Shocks/Uppers: $800, Cat guards: $200, Bumper/Winch: $2K. Total: 25K. Later add-- Steering Rack: $4k, Tie Rods: ? SC: $7K, Regear/Lockers: 3.5K. ~39K+ all in. No labor/trimming costs or taxes added yet. Buying a lottery ticket tonight! :)
your oil catch can is gonna exhaust vapors into your intake. kinda redundant. nice build and cant wait to see the long term performance.
Sick! Can’t wait to get my Tundra!
New Tundys are amazing
@@stellarbuilt Wish they could do this with 1st Gen Tundras.
Damn now that's badass.
No rear steel bumper for mounting 37 inch tyre spare, maxtrax, trash bag, Jerry cans etc on the 4runner?
Saw this rig out in Anza Borego yesterday
Never heard of portals. Wild, but cool concept.
Mercedes makes them on their Mercedes Benz G63 and they come standard from the factory!!
Awesome! Does ATRAC still work normal with these portals?
This is not a 4Runner now . . . This is a MONSTER - 4Runner!
A Mo-Runner!😈
What bumper and winch set up did you guys use on this one?
I have a 2021!! I soooo want this set up!!!
We can make it happen
Wondering about these for a Toyota Hilux (Aus) looking at the front housing same part numbers Hilux v Tacoma
most likely never afford them but sure would like to have a set of portals on my 93 Toyota pickup them things are bad ass1
What's next for the build? Brenan's hidden bucket list: Magnuson Super Charger!
Cool vid, and I'm all about pushing the envelope, but this is absurd! Lol. Clearance is great, but you should put on some 35" ATs. That much weight will absolutely butcher that powertrain and drivetrain long-term. Crazy build though.
Actually, the reduction box is taking the majority of the stress at each hub. Is there added stress on the drivetrain components? Yes. However, with portals, it's greatly reduced compared to something like Long Travel on 37" tires - with no reduction box.
That is a wild truck. Absolutely wild. I am definitely envious.
When I win the lottery I'll plagiarize it...
Hi, still waiting for part 3, when will it be available???
wow, nicely done guy's, what would it do to highway and city driving. it sure makes me love my 2016 4runner trail even more. Can't wait for part three.
It drives not much different than any other lifted 4Runner.
It drives great around town and the freeway. There is a loss in low and high-end torque but after we regear to 4.56s, that should improve quite a bit.
4.56? 35” tire or bigger you want 4.88 or 5.29
The portals have gear reduction, too.
Skip the diff gears and put a NWfab doubler in it.The portals should give enough gearing for those tires on the street, and the doubler will be huge offroad compared to gearing the diffs.
Dual cases would be nice but we spent all our money on the portals.... lol
Thisbis the first i see them go on a 4Runner.
Can you or do you make the for a 2018 COLORADO ZR2 with a baja kit istalled?
And if so, do o have to driv3 all the way to Sac to get them installed?
Thanks
Unfortunately not for Colorado at the moment
You moved entire LCA forward, so I am curious how about UCA...? or the spindle is build this way, that UCA ball joint mounting point remained in the factory spot...?
We use an SPC UCA which has adjustment to move the ball joint
SHEEEEEESH
1st gen Durango r/t on portals would be awesome, only downside is the front axle on them
called out most of the 209 😂
don't forget the gear oil in those boxes!
Straight axles are the best in my opinion and are headlock wheels even legal on the road in the US ?
Some bead locks are legal. Some off-road only.
that part is fucking gorgeous 😍
Also available for the 3rd gen 4Runner? I’m interested.
Not available at the moment
(Unsprung weight has entered the chat)
Спасибо за вторую часть.
🤝
@@stellarbuilt Да брат. Русские тоже смотрят. 😊
Those portals are awesome, but why would they be designed to have the brake calipers on the bottom ? Deep mud and water would be a concern unless your only rock crawling and nothing else.
What brakes don’t work in water or mud? Haha. Have you ever been wheeling???
@@davidryan4420 yeah, I have. Get them packed full of mud and crud, won't drain and clear and it will have braking issues.
The factory caliper mounts about 15 degrees higher on the rotor than the 74W setup. The factory calipers and rotors are designed to withstand water, mud, debris, and all common road particulates. There is absolutely no difference in performance when rotating the calipers 15 degrees lower on the rotor.
@@nismo370z4 literally never had this happen once. And I live in the PNW. All the mud and water.
Its amazing, for 20 grand it still has the shity stock Lower Ball Joint, that the rig hangs on, vs sitting on the them.
Any reason the outer tierod is under mount? Why not put that thing on top?
That has to go there to match factory suspension angle otherwise you get bump steer
Congratulations 🎈🎉 Now you own a $100,000 four runner.
Hey men, can portals fit on a 23 Nissan Titan pro-4x? If so how much would they cost?
These aren’t available for Nissan
@@stellarbuilt
Can't you guys custom build me some?
Prairie city???
I wonder how these effect those who have already re geared
nvm skip to 23:00 lmao
Too specialty for my tastes but is nice to watch.
Portals will save the needle bearings :D
Time for portals on a Ridgeline.
Ridge who?
Sooo. We going to see portals on the bronco and then a portal battle?
74 Weld do make Bronco portals!
@stellarbuilt right but no youtuber has done a install video like you guys did with the Toyota. Plus since you already have a bronco it just seemed perfect set up for a install video, then a side by side comparison and long term updates
When it’s all said and done …it’s a 4 Runner with portals! 🤷🏻♂️
😲😲😲
Werewolf 4x4 portals give a better ratio to put on 39” tires.
SAS >>>
What new gears is the 4Runner going to have?
Ok but are you still re gearing the truck in the future or you are satisfied with the portal gears?
Yeah, we're going to regear our factory differentials to a 4.56 which will put us at a 5.56. We're also planning on moving up to 38" - 39" tires after we run through these 37s. That should be a great gear ratio for when we jump up in size.
@@TrailCoMedia Thanks for the info. I’m planning of doing the same set up on my 4Runner and now I need to calculate the $$$ for this set up plus gears.
can you tell me the price of gearboxes?
They are about $20k
You know you got money to piss away, when you have to regear up. After regearing down 🤦🏻♂️ and haven't had lockers in yet.
At least you have shown that portals make sense if you're starting from stock.
This truck is on factory gearing. It was 100 stock when we started.
How is it at 70mph
Drives fine. There's a little loss in low and high-end torque. Nothing that I would complain about though. Once we move to a 4.56 it will drive a little better.
They work just fine
What kind of lifespan do these portals have?
As long as you regularly change oil, it's the same lifecycle of any spur gear architecture found in something like a transmission.
One to two weeks typically
cost for portals?
I think $20k for portals, $ for installation?
5k per wheel in case you're wondering
That's just parts
@@iddddaduncan of course, I think I can do the install myself
Yeah, doesn't look too hard, wish I could get that set up.@@FinesseForward69
How much does this cost?
20 racks
More than the truck
Did you guys see what a ‘99 Jeep Cherokee just did on Ultimate Adventure 23? 😂
That low lift look is just not my last. Those fenders are way too close to the times. Another 2in and it would look good.
That's made my Saturday looks so good
Would They fit hilux.
#phils_offroad
Throw some 40s on the beast....
Those are nice ,but their soooo expensive, and finding someone to install them is like a needle in a hay stack.
hi need for my car but am in Africa kenya I have a Toyota fourtuner 2016
Love it but so much money.
Portals on a 2wheel drive 4Runner??? 😅
That bucket test wasn't even a test!!!
The brake callipers are in a stupid position. They will constantly be covered in gravel and dust and even in water they should have been in the 10 to 2 position in my opinion.
They work and perform just fine
That’s a lot of weight for that v6. Slowwwww
Yeah, she needs a Supercharger. Next on the list.
My god that looks expensive
NOT on bucket over rear diff... 100$
The bucket also clears at diff👍🏼
It's an all terrain vehicle, the brake calipers are never OK to mount so low @ that kind of angles!? If it's driving on flat cement n flat black tar road then it's OK to mount on that angle. F1 cars do that low mounting but not good for all terrain vehicles. The designer is not thinking deep enough .... 🤔
Any reason why they can’t be mounted that low?
Get rid of that plastic rear bumper.
what they dont tell you... thats a $50k build
Where can I get some of those rad safety glasses? 3:30
