So cool to see new options like this hit the market. To be able to bolt on a single product and get a lift, regear, disc conversion and full float conversion is pretty epic.
Most frustrating thing about DIY UA-camrs. No eye pro to be had and the ppl watching the DIY vids to replicate the project don’t know any better. Potentially literally the blind leading the blind 🙈
Sorry, but i had to laugh when I heard 39. Quinn talked me out of going with 40s, for good reason. He said 38s are enough. So I got jelz when i heard 39s. Lol, you guys are so smooth and just roll through the challenges that popped up. Thanks for all your videos and constant teachings.
now you gotta give your portals an oil change, have you serviced those kings yet? should revalve with the new unsprung weight, probably added an easy 50lbs to each corner with the tire and aluminum
Overlanding is getting way too expensive, unless you have a deep pocket, a youtuber, owns a business, very wealthy or just like to rack up your credit to the maxxxxx. All of this are all hype. with the economy so bad I would stay away from the HYPE TRAIN. Build what you can afford and not go bankcrapt just to look good and flex to someone.

That tiny rear caliper and pad surface only contacting half the rotors surface is almost as concerning as watching him cut sheet metal with a thin disc and no safety glasses...
I think it is odd everyone wants everything to be at zero cost. When you have the developer/owner of the product always in the shop doubling as a worker it is clear they are not getting rich off these. Living well, maybe. As a multiple theater Combat Veteran I simply see these as an exceptional option! Greater capability comes with an associated cost. It may take me 6 months but I am getting a pair as this truck has a 20-25 year motor in it so I see this as an inexpensive upgrade when you now have a drive train that now can last as long as your engine. Congrats Mateo on your new build addition! Weld 74 thank you for bringing this level of engineering excellence to everyday enthusiast with a passion for exploring🙌🏾. The average vehicle wrap cost 4-6.5k so please never let anyone convince you all the price is too high. Again in six months my order will be in and please try to keep it at 20k😂😅🙌🏾.

Remember when portals hit the sxs market? They were the biggest rave for about 2 or 3 years. Between the quickley wearing moving parts, oil leaks, frequant oil changes, shitty handeling and at the end of this 20k + upgrade your still left with limited travel. For 20k your better off going solid axle with super 60's. And probabley cheaper. If i had 20k to burn im calling Martek and getting there SAS kit for the 3rd gen tacoma.
Crazy it’s still factory style single shear outer tie rod attachment. I know it’s a weak point to keep the rack from getting wrecked (easier to change the rods then a whole new rack) but on such a cool billet piece you think they’d add a double shear heim outer especially with 39’s 😮

Oy, just put a brake bleeder cap over the rear hard lines. Pinching the "soft" lines is never good, particularly on older vehicles, as they harden and can separate internally and impede flow of brake fluid. Otherwise, amazing portals. You do yourselves proud.
As much as I love watching about Tacomas and vehicle mods, this overlanding equipping is getting very out of hand.. I understand it's mostly for video contents and has very little to do with real world practicality and the average guy or gal. DIY videos, now that's the real deal.! 👍

Haven’t tested the TAV setups so I wouldn’t be able to give you a good comparison. All I can tell you is portals are pretty serious if you’re planning on wheeling your taco a lot. Otherwise you can go with a regular lift that’s a bit less expensive 🤙
The rear axle housing flange that bolts to the portal does not look strong enough…. Need to beef that up. Asking a lot out of that stock axle housing. Very cool product and build though!!!

Speechless, simply badass. What the guys at 74weld are doing is nuts.
Looks badass!!
On a side note, him cutting the fenders with no face or eye protection was wild lol..
its crazy how none of the car youtubers i watch wear safety gear...no gloves no glasses no respirator..insane
It was the blowing of the brake dust without a mask and cutting the axle with a 4 1/2 grinder and no face shield that made me cringe
Don't worry, I'm sure safety squint was engaged.
Not all faces are pretty enough to need protection, apparently.

I found out about the portals earlier this year when I saw his Taco rolling down the highway and saw 74weld on the side and looked'em up.
Who did I just watch that put portals on a 2023 4 runner. Killer upgrade!
Stellar Built

Gravel catchers.

In 20 years of building I’ve had to get metal removed from my eye twice. Both times I was wearing safety glasses when it happened. 🤷♂️
those brake rotors in the rear should be reversed as it is supposed to vent out air, not scoop air in. but whatever works i guess.
