- In this video, I trapped seven wild young pigs. I show baiting and setting the traps and the next day checking the traps for pigs. I show cleaning, seasoning and preparing the piglet for the barbecue pit. I cooked the pig for a total of four hours on indirect heat. It was delicious! A couple of us ate the whole thing. Sorry I didn't get more footage of us enjoying the pig. Thanks for watching, it means a lot.

I understand the sensitivity of dispatching these piglets but like you said you've got a job to do as far as limiting their massive numbers and they are hazardous to farmers and their crops. Yeah when you said 2 hours I didn't think that would be long enough. Me and my buddy did that one time we caught six piglets and two sows. Put two piglets on the smoker one with a Hawaiian sauce and pinnaple slices. The other we just did a Cajun seasoning. We ate both of those piglets that night between the two of us. They were both a good bit smaller than your piglet. Smoked with pecan wood for about six hours. I want to do that again.👍

I wish Kendall would have explained "Putting Bacon on A Hog"? I have Never seen this before. If you ever tried "Wrights"
bacon you will know it is pretty much the best bacon at the supermarket, but these are young hogs.
I thought young hogs were the preferred choice when it comes to feral hogs.

Nice video Kendall. Funny when those piglets are in the trap they look so small you could put them in your pocket but when you get to loading them up you realize their actual size. if we get decent weather in a couple more weeks those sacalait will be on the bank at toledo.

Louisiana living at its best. You won't find that in your grocery store. That little piglet looked so tender. Them jokers may look cute by they do a lot of damage to the ground and are a farmers worst nightmare.

We built these traps ourselves. Thanks for watching.
This was a good video. First off, Kendall Frederick illustrated the fact that is a problem with these wild hogs and preservation of nature requires stuardship and balancing (7 could easily equal 300 in a short while) . And while he grilled the lads up really well, perhaps there should be a follow up video (on a different platform )as to what technique was used to dispatch the sucklings (mercifully ) . I have never been hunting , but in the event I do, target placement (ethics) etc would be of value.
He shoots them in the head with a .22 caliber rifle. He doesn't film it because there are people who eat pork who don't realize that you have to kill an animal before you can eat it. They get bent out of shape about this practice.

Now that's what I call a well seasoned hog roast. Fantastic! Give me a shout when you're doing your next BBQ, I'll be round. Big Steve, East Yorkshire, England.
I never thought about using bacon to keep the piglet moist. They have no fat, so they get tough and dry.
I usually inject with apple juice and put in fridge over night, next day season and throw on the smoker with heavy smoke for 2 hours, then wrap in foil with some more apple juice and leave on the smoker another 4 to 5 hours. Comes out moist and tender.
Wild hogs are a huge pest in Texas but can be a valuable resource for feeding starving people. The meat can be cut up, marinated in KFred spice and Cajun hot sauce, bagged, frozen, and shipped to various soup kitchens.

Have you every try jerking some of those wild hog, we here in Jamaica would season it right with jerk seasoning with our favorite hot scotch bonnet peppers, let it marinate for a few days then fire up the chark cold grill and jerk all day bro.
I like to use small hardwood to start the fire than chard wood for cooking on. NO CHARCOAL LIGHTER TASTE!
