- Glenn Hughes Performs Classic Deep Purple Live - Pescara 31 July 2018
It was a great concert with an exceptional performance by Glenn Hughes and his band.
Glenn Hughes sang and played superbly.
He was also very nice with the audience.
One of the most beautiful concerts I've ever seen.
It was a great night!
They played:
Stormbringer
Might just take your life
Sail away
You keep on moving
You fool no one
Mistreated
Smoke on the water
Higway star
Burn
Thanks Glenn for the emotions!
Nobody screamed rock like Glen Hughes.
66 years young; and still sounds like he's 20.
but he looks like he's 800...
no complaints... I saw DP with Gillan... 5 years ago and never again.
His voice is gone and he looks like he has Parkinsons on stage,
It was genuinely pitiful.. . and I say that as someone who had seen Gillan as lead singer on more stages than any other singer. Multiple tours with IGB, with Purple, with Sabbath.
Sorry, not again.
I actually thought Glenn Hughes had died in the 80s...
@@evildrome I have to agree with you , i too was a huge Gilllan fan and saw him in his prime with Sabbath and no one could touch him when it came to screaming , he reached pitches that to this day can't be touched , but his voice is completely shot now at 74. Purple are supposedly on there retirement tour , but it seems like it's been going on for years now , very sad too see Ian now , i loved the guy back in the day. That's why it's even more impressive that Glenn can still perform at such a high level , he certainly doesn't sound like he's in his 60's , even Halford can't reach the high notes anymore. I saw Maiden last year and Bruce can still bring it , they sounded even better than when i saw them in the 80's. It just goes to show what happens when you take care of your voice and the singers who didn't.
@evildrome Hughes nearly did die in the '80's-major cocaine psychosis. I hear ya re: Gillan-his voice has been shot for awhile. I can hardly believe how many people say how good he still sounds. Talk about tarnishing your legacy. Does he really need the $$$ that badly?
Hey..Hey stop for a moment! Let's also just give a standing ovation to Soren Andersen, the guitarist on the far right okay 👏🏻🇩🇰 So incredibly skilled at a guitar and my dear compatriot 🇩🇰
benny wiberg They say that in the video my friend..
Copied Blackmore's riffs brilliantly and even little things like the "fake" open to "Lazy" before going into "Smoke". Very nicely done sir!
I saw them in Leeds/England a month or so later and ....my good friend who was standing in front of me ( who is a fabulous guitarist) turned round after a couple of songs and said, " That guitarist.." " Sounds dreadful" I replied . We both laughed because we both agreed his tone was the worst we'd ever heard at a proper gig in our whole lives. So sorry, I cannot give a standing ovation because he wasn't that good.
@@spanishpeaches2930 I think his tone is very good here
@spanish peaches that's disrespectful.guitarist are supposed to be a brothers.maybe the sound man didn't help his tone.could have been the venue.any guitarist who is not humble doesn't have my support.
Glenn Hughes is a monster... a true rock'n'roll animal!
I agree 👌😊
the only one that reached his prime in his 60s for hard rock singing
Wonderful show!!! Glenn is the Voice of Rock.Love.
WOW WOW WOW Cant Believe IAN GILLAN IS 77yrs old AMAZING !
I love Glenn's closing words..."You didnt come to see me....I came to see YOU." From the heart....Reminded me of seeing Jethro Tull in 1972 in Fort Worth. Band walked off the stage and it went dark for a moment and a spotlight came on and focused on a chair at the front of the stage with a telephone starting to ring....Ian walked over and picked it up to his ear then and stuck it out toward the audience and said "It's for YOU and laid the phone down on the chair." Never forgot that...Musicians that TRULY love their fans..
This was great. Mille Grazie.
thx to you 🙂
At least someone is keeping the legacy of Deep Purple Mk3 alive ... bravissimo !
... and MK4, 'cos he was close friends with Tommy
Now this here, Mr. Coverdale, is what a so-called "Purple Tour" should sound like. Glad someone got it right. Thanks, Glenn and company.
What a great show!... Thank you for this video!... :)
Thanks to you 🙂
If I had to choose in 2018, I'd go and see this over a Deep Purple concert.
Nobody can beat GH
From Trapeze era and now in 2019!
He moved across Music with his gift 🎸
I feel lucky to live in the same era
Grazie amico mio
He, Hughes is an under rated musician and singer. The guy was deadly with Deep Purple. He trade vocals with David Coverdale. This guy really is a legend. Thank you for posting and giving exposure. Bless ya. Deep Purple remains my fave group ever.
Thanks to you for your visit :-)
I can´t imagine anybody underrating Glenn Hughes.
Dayum he's still great. Seen him in Astrodome with Purple in 76. Greatest show ever
Nobody has ever, in the whole history of Rock EVER underrated Glenn Hughes' vocal ability.
What Glenn has come back from in his life should be an inspiration to all. Hero.
I'm 54. Man when I grow up. I want to be. Like you. My brother.
That was really good Glen, best I've ever seen you !! Better than purple
absolutely fantastic playing. Guitarist is very cool.
Yeah😀👍
THANK YOU Guido Di Vincenzo for this video. What a band Glenn has got there.... WOW.
Thanks to you 🙂

another superb GH performance from a fabulous tour......
Soren Andersen you nailed that guitar sound ,pure true old rock sound 10 out of 10
Yeah, great sound👍
Soren is much better than the guy who played earlier in the Australian D.P. tour, who's sound was pretty scary
Ian Pett So incredibly skilled at a guitar and my dear compatriot 🇩🇰
Copied Blackmore's riffs brilliantly and even little things like the "fake" open to "Lazy" before going into "Smoke". Very nicely done sir!
SUPERB !!! ONE OF THE GREATEST MUSICIANS IN THE WORLD!
Singer maybe, Musician...I'd have to disagree on that one.
Good old Deep Purple music, well done, keep rocking. Good band
At 63 i sure didnt hold my voice near that well , he must have practiced daily, remarkable
YES ! This is Deep Purple in the 70ies! Glenn Hughes Voice is from the universe!
... thanx fot the vid, will see the voice live in a few months in Leuven, Belgium. Can't wait. There's more Purple in Hughes than in nowadays Purple and Whitesnake combined. And... he can reach the high nothes what neither Coverdale (never could) nor Gillan can (anymore).
Hes got soul rock singing technique. Gillan voice was done in 84
@@barryspencer2533 correct
Right You are. Glenn is the only One that still can scream. Saw Purple this past October. Ian switched from vocals to tambourine. In a song part that normally has Him scream.
Excellent sound recording and performance from Glenn Hughes and band is magnificent..!!! Thanks Tom ~ Scarboro
😊
@@GuidoDiVincenzo : Super amazing sound on this concert you can feel the energy !
True rock legend one of the few I would pay money to see today keep rocking
Unlike many others he can still sing - brilliantly! Keep on moving, Glenn!
Hi from Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. Great concert thanks for upload, Glen Hughes surprise me this year, he is a gret singer too. Long live to Deep Purple.
Thanks a lot 😀👍
From Belgium to Quetzawhatever,.. Hughes is huge all over the globe
I know this guy since the 70's and geez... what a fucking singer.. the bassman is awesome too but i still am wtf when i hear this dude singing this way.. Come on Glenn , you did so much for us.. for me just the singer all over the top for the last ...100 years :P luv you buddy
Damn... Glad I gave this a listen.... ☮️💯🎸👊🏻🎶🎬
🙂
GLENN was the back bon of DEEP PURPLE believe me the oudience is so lucky in he’s presence in these clip I wished to be ther right now🤘🤘🤘👈👈
... though brilliant, he was not the backbone. That were Lord and Paice. All the others were, at some point, replaced. Yes, even Glover, who replaced Nick 'Rockyroad' Simper.
another stunning show from the 'Voice of Rock'.....Can you Feel it??????????
So Wonderful! Glenn is great musician!
Yeah! Glenn is really great :-)
Have front row tickets to this show in the spring. Can't wait !!!
😀
You just have to see this when he comes to town! 🤟✊️
He came to my country and gave us an awesome gig , he Is a fantastic singer and the band are outstanding musicians very tight musicianship ,had a great Time seeing a Rock legend .🤘🤘🤘🤘👏👏👏
This is fantastic. Been a fan of Glenn Hughes since I bought Trapeze "you are the music, we"re just the band" in '73. He can still sing his ass off. Thanks for posting this high quality video
InstaBlaster...
Recorded at The Shell Overton Park Memphis. TN. Great underrated Live Album. Back when Memphis Rocked!
Glenn is such a badass!! Rock on!
I saw this tour here in Porto Alegre, Brazil. It was amazing. Thank you for sharing this. 💪💪
Thx to you 😃
The Voice Of Rock!
glenn is god.! whether he is singing and playing bass he is the man.! I love his hair.! from shaz in the uk.
Glen... age is truly in the mind.
Definitely the voice of Rock...I got to see him once with kings of chaos...than with solo band ...he is amazing
Kickin’ ASS!! 🎶🎸🎙 You guys are beyond Excellant🌟🖤🤍☮️💜
Glenn Hughes is a brilliant master class for ever IN TIME
Wow this was much better than the current DP or Rainbow lineups! Glenn"s voice is still there!
I agree 👍
One of the best close to the top of all times
Bravo ! Fantastico !
LONG LIVE GLENN HUGHES ; AWESOME
Yeah 😀👍
I cant to belive, he is better than he was young!
Yeah 👍😀
HOLY SHIT ! Its better than Purple!! great editing too, thanks for posting, AWESOME!!
I saw him live last summer! It was a blast!!! this man is ageless!!!!
A true legend! Rock on Glenn!
Glenn still sounds like its 1975...............unbelievable.
Fantastic! Thanks so much for recording and sharing.
Thanks to you 😀
Just so everyone knows... the guy annihilating the drums is Markus Kullmann. Such a great feel for these songs.
Please, come to Spain!!
Forever Young !
Jesus Christ... Mindblowing show!!!! As good as Purple ca. 1975!
... yes, yes Joost ... !!!
Saw him in providence ri last night, incredible
Great performance! Wish I had been there!
Esse é o cara, Parabéns 🇧🇷👏👏👏👏
Glenn's got it.
Idolo assoluto.
Fabrizio Tronca grazie a te! Si è stato un sogno 😀
Bologna, 8 aprile 2019 ,Estragon. Non vedo l'ora!
I love how Glenn phrases..."Nooobody's gonna take my car..."❤
I had a chance to see Glenn but for some unforseen reason it did not happen.i hope I get another chance but it's probably not gonna happen.
Guido - grandissimo. Grazie!
Absolutely brilliant. 66 and sings like the seasoned pro he is ..... but apparently with the vocal chords of a sixteen year old 😀.
Reminds us of just how soulful and funky Deep Purple mark iii and iv ( with the late Tommy Bolin) were ...... and WHAT about the songs !!! Don’t miss this tour, they were fantastic.
Next 8th of April, I'll be there! Can't wait!
He is better than other Deep Purple singers nowdays (and even in the past he was).
I wish they would release a concert from this tour...❤
Glenn Hughes is the G.O.A.T.
He died , Im sure that kind of miracle isnt the normal....But you feel his sincerity and love. Hes here now always. I name him Profit Glen Hughes. He would and has shared his gift without worrying bout details or profit
Highpoint for me was the Mistreated singalong solo - one of Ritchie's best moments. Brilliant. Glenn is gonna live to about 200, i reckon.
WONDERFUL !!!
Glenn and Malmsteen doing Mistreated at the Marshall anniversary show is something I revisit regularly.
21:28 onwards is just amazing
The guy is amazing
mille grazie per questo video!!!!
Andrea Ranfagni grazie a te per averlo visto 😄
Hughs and Coverdale did bring something fresh to 'DP' with 'Burn' and 'Stormbringer', as it was a continuation of 'DP' as we
knew them.
At the time Richie Blackmore was a big influence on young musician's who were gravitating to 'DP' music.
Most people (who aren't musicians) could hear that familiar sound and flavour they had become use to.
Ian Gillian was replaced by 2 above average vocalist's, Coverdale and Hughs. Roger Glover is one of my favourite bassist's, he was replaced by an equally good bassist, plus Hughs had both, he could sing and command a crowd.
So Richie Blackmore brought these 2 talents into the fold, and continued 'DP'.
He already retained that Purple sound and style, by Paice and Lord continuing the band with him.
So Glover and Gillian weren't terribly missed.
Sadly, this is what happens in bands, and a personal riff between members, does get in the way of good business.
Obviously this riff started way back, and after a very successful career, with many album's and tour's, they couldn't mend the underlying riff, that presented and persisted itself continually each time they were together. It couldn't be fixed.
Blackmoore never gave up, and he and Lord never stopped writing and producing material.
In my opinion, Lord was the best keyboard player for 'DP', as Paice was the best drummer for them.
As we know, 2 albums later, Gillian and Glover were back, and Richie Blackmoore was in 'Rainbow' with Glover on vocals, a good band.
Blackmoore was replaced with Steve Morse, who slotted into 'DP' with no worries, or issues, so the 'DP' continued with a sense of, the old 'DP' style, but with a different guitar sound, to Blackmoore.
I saw them live in concert after he joined, they way back, they were great.
A few years later John Lord set out on a tour doing his own arrangement's, using big orchestras around the globe, in several countries, I have some of his works on album's.
Sadly he passed away, and was replaced by a younger keyboard player, but they were never the same, Lord was the nucleus of 'DP' sound, a bit like each of them, it is never quite the same.
Perhaps Ian Gillian is, and has lost the voice he once had, we all eventually do, there are many examples of this taking place in the music world, with singer's, but as they enjoy doing it, being in front of a live audience, and the contact and feeling they get from that, they continue, even though they may know they aren't where they use to be when they were in their prime.
We all age, and get old, and past it, knowing when to give it away is the hard part!
Something, whatever that is, that we each enjoy, there comes a time when we need to slow down, take a look at ourselves, while we still can, and try to make a continuous effort (while we can) to make an informed decision !!!
No one wants to get old, growing old just happens and comes to us all, sooner or later, for some, it is sooner than later, for other's, they don't want to concede, and give in to it.
Paul McCartney wrote a song when he was 17 years old, called, 'When I'm 64'.
He never thought at that time, he would ever get to that age!
Possibly thought that they would never be as big as they became, how does he feel now, he is 82 years young, still playing, writing songs, recording, and performing live to huge audiences.
He doesn't sound as good vocally as he did in his earlier years, he is still playing well, but he's not ready to give it up.
Either are any of these musician's who have been on the world stage for most of their life, they will still continue to do what they love and have been doing through out their live's, till they can't.
Forgive old age, but it comes to all of us !!!
They sound pretty killer! They'll be here in Ft Wayne at the Clyde Theatre in March and I might have to check em out. Been a life long DP fan.
Proper RockStar Glenn is!
Lady Double Dealer, Lay Down, Stay Down, etc...
Ride the rainbow Crack the sky
Better show than Ian's Deep Purple.
I agree👍
Sensational!
It was a great concert👍🙂
@@GuidoDiVincenzo I'm happy to see him tomorrow in Winterbach. ☺
Imagine Glenn with Ronnie in Rainbow.
Nothing sounds better than a tuned down Stratocaster....
A Fender Stratocaster with Single Coils into Marshalls... That's how Purple Songs should be played ! Yeah !
John Scheerer Just forgot to add - that the vocal work between David C and Glenn H in Deep P was brilliantly well done - the burn album was and is outstanding !!
just translated it for you because those who follow the channel can't understand it otherwise.
UNREAL ! FABULOUS 😉
How much better is 'this band', than the actual 'Gillan/Paice/Morse/Glover/Airey Deep Purple that's still running around today? I'd say, a whole lot better...
ray charles would roll over in his grave hearing georgia on my mind sung that good.
