@@tnwhiskey68 Jr's career may not have gone exactly how he would have liked but turns out his "retirement" likely will be much more influential. He obviously loves the sport. Just like Stapleton, he's creating a roadmap to the past. Well done.

Great interview. Both my older brothers went to school with Waddell at Bowman High School in Bakersville, N.C. This town is famous as being the "Gateway to Roan Mountain" home of the world's largest natural rhododendron gardens. Waddell grew up with strong family and christian values and it has shown through all his personal and professional life. Great man and we need more like him today in racing.

Thanks for your podcasts. You're creating a great service by documenting the history of auto racing. I'm 77 and everything Waddell Wilson is describing is completely normal to me. This is the way racing was done. No factory BS. All the good guys were known to the community these were guys that pulled themselves up by their tenacity and OTJ training. The manufactures knew who these people were and made sure they had the right information and parts. Working 14 to 16 hours was just common back in the day. Whoever worked the hardest with the right connections won.

I have been very impressed with your commitment for putting the effort into making people lives matter. You are correct in saying that we don't know how good we have it compared to many that do not. Very nicely done indeed!!!

When I think of Nascar engine builders, I think of Waddell Wilson and the Yates bros. I know there are other greats like Maurice Petty, etc.. but they still dont stand out to me like those two!

Great show Junior! Firing off those questions at the beginning like an automatic firearm. Lol.
Gotta keep getting these older fellas on the show to tell their stories before they are gone.
