  • This video covers harvesting banana leaves to use when cooking meats The leaves will make your meats flavorful and juicy. I also cover how to properly store the leaves in your refrigerator. The video also encourages viewers to grow bananas trees even if they don’t live in a tropical enough region to get bananas. They are beautiful trees that have other uses.

I'm guessing you live somewhere in the south. If you put a greenhouse around those banana plants you might be able to actually harvest some bananas. They're already starting to grow. You can make one fairly cheap and easily with some PVC pipe and thick plastic sheeting from a hardware store. There are lots of DYI videos here on UA-cam 🙂

Just subbed brotha man. I love using my banana leaves to smoke briskets, ribs and pork shoulders. Got some friends who use them to wrap tamales
    Peace N Love

I’ll have to try them on ribs. Thanks for the comment!

Can you suggest a place to get a banana tree. I have been looking for one. Even a cutting.
    Thank you

Try your local nursery or you can order online. I recommend a variety called lady finger. If you know anyone who has banana trees in your area they will probably be willing to give you a sprout and they are very easy to propagate. Good luck!
