A great list! I live in zone 9 Louisiana, and unfortunately hydrangeas are so finicky here it’s not worth it. I had the limelights in part sun and still had to water daily; still only got sad little flowers before they shriveled and died. Azaleas, viburnums, and gardenias are all very very popular here. I would like to add to this list (for us in zones 8b+), oleanders, callistemon, brunfelsia, and cape plumbago all thrive and are perfect for our climate.
Coffee and Jenny is a great combination! I love all the plants you listed, unfortunately my deer must be special 🤣, because they like a lot of them too! I am happy to see even after our Artic Freeze here in South Carolina my Camilla’s are blooming, yay!🌺
What a fantastic video! I just moved down to SC and need the guidance you are giving as I came from MN. Completely different. Excited to visit your nursery this spring.
This time of year I start listing things to research. Between you and Laura from Garden Answer there is always something that will grow in my 4B area. I also buy the gardening magazines for additional suggestions.
I'm in the same 7b zone (pnw) as you and love the in-depth details of PW newest arrivals. I installed a water feature in 2021 and have to finish landscaping around it. It's a tiered, hilly 90' x 15' space. 1/2 is in full sun all day and the other side has am sun and shade. This video is a huge help in getting my project finished up this year.
Ginny, so very timely. After last year, here in Virginia, I am looking for drought resistant, low growing, good in clay soil plants. You mentioned two, the Pugster Blue and the Beyond Pink caryopteris (sp?) that will be perfect. I am going to visit my local nursery this week to ask. Otherwise it’s a trip to a bigger nursery but definitely worth it. This is very valuable information and a great beginning for the spring. Thanks so much. Again, wish we were nearer to Creekside. Let us know when you are ready to start shipping. Such a great extension for your business.
Great information for southern gardens. I am trying to add to my Zone 8B southeastern Texas flower borders .... and believe me I was taking notes. Thank you so much. And I love your hat ! Great color for you
Loved this video! I screenshot every one of them and I'm definitely planning on incorporating all of them in my garden this year. Thank you so much for all the great information about each one.
They are all beautiful but my preference is Hydrangeas and Sprinter boxwoods which I have but will be looking for the tidbits! Thank you for this exciting video! I'm a northerner but there are quite a few i could plant in my gardens!
Thank you Jenny! Love lists! Making my plans for some of the smaller hydrangea. I'm in Sapulpa OK. I've tried 3 different gardenias. Lost every one (I'm a Southern gal. And I think I Need a gardenia, mine in LA was a good 10 ft tall, smelled Glorious, oh how I miss her) I hope to find Steady as she goes up here. Thank uou again.
Good morning Jenny, I looked out my window the other day and had some deer nibbling on my butterfly bush which I don’t mind this time of year because I will be trimming it back in spring.
So timely! Feeling like I want to start to at least clean up outside, and have plans to remove three old roses and two spirea that are neighbors. Your suggestions are wonderful, especially the punster. I can see more than a few of them replacing other not successful specimens. Nice to start to think about gardening again. First, get Christmas put away!
Im in southeastern PA zone 6b and love watching all your plant/stock videos! There are a couple of things I might even try in 6b to see if I can make them live on a south side of the house in a protected area (loropetalum)!
I love these videos! For Christmas '22 my husband blessed me with the choice to order a ton of new plants for this year 😁 Proven winners and proven winners direct had preorder sales so I jumped on those and will be enjoying my Christmas in late April! I have a few of the plants you've listed here in your video that is not all of them do well in zone 5 like the azaleas. I did get the dandy man rhododendron though. I can't wait! Thank you for sharing Jenny!
@@GardeningwithCreekside Yes ma'am I am! I get a lot of inspiration from washing your videos so thank you for sharing and showing off all your beautiful plants!
I HAVE SUCH AN ADDICTION TO ALL THESE LOVELY SHRUBS. I WANT THEM ALL. I REGRET NOT GETTING THE PUNSTER BUTTERFLY BUSH. I MIGHT JUST HAVE TO TRADE THEM OUT.
Hi Jenny, I have a question about cutting hydrangeas for arrangements during blooming season. Should I cut the flowers shorter so the stems can grow new blooms or it doesn’t work like that? I always feel weird cutting the stems longer like I’m taking away blooms. Thank you so much for this great video! I struggle with clay in Texas and keeping things alive between the droughts and water restrictions and the occasional prolonged ice.
Thank you, Jenny! I’m working on my 2023 garden plans and will definitely be including some of these gems! I want to include some David Austin roses too. Do you have any in your garden? I’m in Alabama zone 8a. Should I stick with double knockout roses?
I’m in Alabama in 8b (Dothan) and have David Austins. They do great here! Just make sure you research because our heat/humidity can make certain ones different shades than on the website. I’m in a FB group that has lots of great info!
Is there any shrub that will bloom all summer to fall for color? I moved to 9a zone and miss the color changes. What I have found in the southern Georgia/ northeast Florida is the lack of color, everything is just green😅
This was great! I was taking notes as you went. You said on the caryopteris to cut back hard in early Spring. They are only 2 ft tall so are you saying to cut the to half size or 2-3" above ground? Sorry to sound picky. I just want to do it right. I always appreciate you. Thanks
Is there a big difference between double play doozie and double play pink? I thought they were just different chases of pink but now I see online they may be two completely different varieties
Tell me if I’m Wrong…. Did you say Holly Tone is good for Crepe Myrtles??? I’m in 7B Texas and have 30+ year old Crepe Myrtles ( taller than my one story house)that got damaged by the last two years prolonged freezing temps. I’m cutting out dead trunks one at a time and really want to rejuvenate them. My Daddy planted them 30+ years ago and I’d love to keep them now that I live in our family home. Appreciate your channel. Never listen to nay-sayers. ❤. Anyway I can’t find your reference on crepe Myrtles. Please help!!!
I have a love hate relationship with azaleas. I don’t like them after they bloom. I have decided to rip mine out this spring. I’ve just had it with them. They are so spindly looking after blooming. They are too fussy about pruning. I only like them when they bloom. So I am getting rid of them. I’m really struggling with what to replace them with. I live in zone 6 and the bed faces east. I want color…not just a spring bloomer. So I am struggling for sure!
How do you keep deer from decimating your hydrangeas? I was also under the impression that hydrangeas must have acidic soil? I live in the South and other than oak leaf hydrangeas, I have yet to see any other hydrangeas.
I have laurels, soft touch hollies, and a few other evergreens in my garden. We had temps below 0 around Christmas and my shrubs turned brown. Some of them are dropping leaves now. Do you think I’ll have to replace them or will they come back in the spring? I’m in middle Tennessee. Thanks!
It would be really helpful if you left the product tag up longer or even typed out the plant species in bigger letters. This was to fast I only wrote down 8 plants and even on a 75 inch tv I couldn’t read the tiny print on the label of the species.
It helps to follow along with the transcript. Hit the “more” button at the top then “transcript” on the right side. The spelling is not always correct on the transcript but it helps. You can stop/start the video to write down the information. Good luck!
So grateful for the information … I’m sold on the PW Azaleas they came thru the Arctic Blast looking untouched my others are burned and now naked😆😩 lol I’m gonna be buying a whole bunch of the double whites this Spring … and several of the others u mentioned… Thanks as always! You’re the Best!!! 🌺🌸🌿🪴💚🤍🌳🍀
Jenny, this is wonderful content for Southern gardeners-we can always count on you. And you are a delight!
Thank you so much! Have a great Monday 😊
Jumping with excitement! Have some places and could not think of what to use. Ideas and more ideas! Thank you❤️
Perfect!

I just purchased my first hydrangea, I'm in Texas. I got the Limelight Hardy Hydrangea (Paniculata). I'm soooo pumped!
They do GREAT in NTexas!
Coffee and Jenny is a great combination! I love all the plants you listed, unfortunately my deer must be special 🤣, because they like a lot of them too! I am happy to see even after our Artic Freeze here in South Carolina my Camilla’s are blooming, yay!🌺
This video was so helpful. I’ve recently started fresh on a cottage garden, designed after seeing yours, and I can’t wait to get planting!!
Wonderful!
I'm in SC and was starting to research this! Thank you for coming to our aid. So excited for Spring, I'm counting it down already! ☺️

I’m so happy to see this!!! Thanks so much Jenny!!!!❤
Hi Jenny so good to see you 🙏👍🌹👏👏
In zone 9A the PW hydrangeas do NOT like our summer heat. I would recommend it only get the morning sun.
Same here in zone 7 SC - if they get all day sun they get burnt and crispy.
I live in FL zone 8b and have bought several panicle hydrangeas, mainly limelights, but I have not have luck with them at all.
Loved this video! I screenshot every one of them and I'm definitely planning on incorporating all of them in my garden this year. Thank you so much for all the great information about each one.

You have given me a lot to think about. I would like to add some containers shrubs to my garden so thank you.
So interesting!! I didn't have a pen. I watch this one again. Thanks.
Thank you Jenny. Excellent suggestions for the Southern garden. I will be looking for these in Georgia. Love it! 😉
Your videos are great- I am trying to plant a couple beds in Raleigh and I have learned a lot then get to the nursery and completely frozen- grr-
Good morning Jenny, I looked out my window the other day and had some deer nibbling on my butterfly bush which I don’t mind this time of year because I will be trimming it back in spring.
😳😏😩
Thanks 🙏, I live in southern Mississippi zone 8b and I love your videos. They are so helpful 🙂
Glad you like them!
Hi Jenny...thank-you for a very thorough informative video. From, Ontario, Canada.💚
Jenny, beautiful choices and perfect timing in the process of redesigning my patio area.

Great info especially now that I have moved from South Carolina to Mississippi :) and need to plan my garden 🌺

They most likely will be fine. Wait until spring before you make any decisions or trimming. They should flush out new growth once warmer temps hit.
Unfortunately we don’t have many PW sellers in our area… can I order and have delivered?
You sure can! I would check out both Proven Winners and Great Garden Plants online 😊

I killed my butterfly bush 😭 I’m positive I did not give it enough water while it was getting established 😣 I’m still learning 😅
Do azaleas attract bees, what about hydrangeas???
They do!
