Today I am going to show you how to setup the original Playstation/PS1/PSX with the very awesome core - SwanStation - a reincarnation of DuckStation. I will show you which bios files this core requires and also go through some video settings, how to swap discs and multi disc games and much more.

You forgot to mention one of the coolest features of RetroArch, Frame Delay, Run-Ahead & Preemptive Frames, which reduce input latency.
This has been covered before.
Awesome video, got me up and running my PS1 roms easy peasy! I decided to run a few different visual enhancement settings, but that's up to user taste I suppose. One thing I do recommend though is applying the CRT Royale shader. Really nails that old school pixelated CRT display look imo. Thanks for the great upload!

Great vid, I have only one question. Some games are IMG format and do not show up when I scan them. I can load them manually, but they don't show up with the rest of the games. Can I turn them into bins or force retroarch to list them also somehow?
Yup. Just use a converter to convert them and try again

You need bios files for sure otherwise your games will unlikely work.@@treestopper2
My games aren't showing up I've got all my cue and bin files and then bios isos loaded in efc

I had the same issue. I had donwloaded RA through steam. Dont do that. DL it from their website instead. For some reason it's insanely complicated finding this extremely simple answer. Meaninglessly mysterious.

Are swanstation and Duckstation settings 1:1? Maybe it’s just retro arch menus but I feel like stuff is missing.

Hi Jamie, I downloaded duckstation on my own and it works wonders, when I download swanstation through retroarch it doesn't load the game, it has the bios in the system folder, the core is downloaded, but it doesn't read any games, what could it be? . I have the game in .cue format. Thanks a lot. I'm using attract mode too.

If still not working. Have you checked specific bios files SwanStation needs by checking its Web page? Also try changing video driver to.directx, vulkan, openGL etc in Retroarch video drivers.
I have looked over several videos, following the same exact instructions and Swanstation is not on there. I don't know what else to do about it.
Did you download the cores in the downloadables section?

It works fine on my laptop but unfortunately, the same method fails to load PS games on my Nvidia Shield Pro. 😓
Sorry to hear that but I can't help with the Shield.
@@JustJamie1983 I think the system PS BISOs files weren't loaded until rebooted my Shield and now all PS Games work fine. Thank you for sharing this video. 😅

Hey. It depends on the game. OpenGL usually works fine for me. But computers are different. AMD=Vulkan. Nvidia=OpenGL.

You already have games download so you could upload it to retroarch, where do you download games on your desktop?
I haven't downloaded any games. These are rips.
i cant see the online updater, is that not on the steam version of retroarch?
I am not sure. Retroarch versions cam vary.
it's not on steam, what i like to do is install the steam version, then delete everything from it's folder and exctract the official retroarch .7z file (from their website). Donwside is if steam decides to auto-update the app, you have to do it again

@konstantinosm.5242 pretty much any CD based system requires a bios file with the exception of Neo Geo.

I got it working man. I had to uninstall retroarch then reinstall then download the bin file. why wouldn't they put a bin in ? thank you

hello, i have got 2 issues i have :
1. Xbox controller left sticks not seems to be working as input -didn't try to change input settings- ,
2. i have a game with 3 files (.ccd, .img , .sub) when i scan the don't appear part of the games what should i do?
Use the conversion tool in the description here to convert to .CHD. try manual scan

I got my games playing well, but the audio either doesn’t come through , or is choppy . I didn’t download a “Bios” I believe , and am using the same core . Any suggestions ? Do I need to get a bios or did one come with the retro arch download .
Bios files don't generally come with cores or emulators
