Interesting discussion. I'm a Lovey fan and I attended the "NecronomiCon" H.P. Lovecraft festival in Providence in 2019 and this August I'll be going to Massachusetts to see some of the places that inspired Lovey to his works, like Boston, Marblehead, Salem, Newburyport and possibly the so-called American Stonehenge. I myself studied Ancient Greek as a minor at university and I've always felt closely attached to Greek antiquity (less to Roman antiquity).

No, Joshi is an authority on Lovecraft, he did a seminal work in editing the definitive texts of Lovecraft's tales and wrote many important essays on Lovecraft's fiction. Joshi counts among the greatest experts on weird and horror fiction in general.
Ridiculous statement. If one is going to grapple with Lovecraft's work, the onus is on you to give him a fair hearing. Figuring out what that author was trying to say, and taking what seems resonant to our era from it. Anything less is just cultural vandalism and snotty upstart posturings.
