I remember when all the hype used to be how many speakers a car had, then it was having a touchscreen or size of the infotainment screen and now it’s ‘how many screens can we fit on the the dashboard’ kind of deal.
It’s gonna get crazy once the whole dash becomes one big OLED panel. Automakers will advertise how the dash can be customized to mimic leather, carbon fiber, anodized aluminum, and interior designs from the past.

I’m waiting for this trend to end. We need real buttons, and better visibility of the road. Don’t get me wrong, I want a big screen that mirrors my phone without lag, with the phone at arms reach to use for accessing touch controls, but priority needs to be on better sight lines without screens in the way of the hood lines, priority needs to be on real buttons in intuitive places that are lit at night, with a dash that isn’t distracting. But the tough part is the screen needs to be in a good place to see close to the windshield so your eyes don’t move too far from the road, while at the same time, not impeding your view.
@@MaxRPMsI never had a problem, bluetooth always connected years ago and played last music from my phone, calls also perfect. For the last few years I just get in and carplay plays music through wifi, if i had a navigation on, it just displays that. it’s great No distracting and ugly phone mounts
Everyone selling cars in Europe will start adding lots of buttons to the cars. Tesla will have to bring back stalks for turn signals, wipers, etc, gear lever of some sort. As EU law will require that in 2 years from now.
The screen is very nice, but I'd still like to see a HUD. I had a 21 Aviator and thought I would hate the HUD. Turned out it was an awesome feature, particularly for navigation. The info is displayed way out in front where your eyes would be when watching for prompts instead of on a screen. Can't wait for this to show up on the new Aviator.
I had HUD on my Yukon Denali and sorely missed it when I bought my F-150 Platinum. I traded in my F-150 on a new Expedition, and it still wasn't even an available option. I believe that Ford is going to incorporate them into their lineup in the upcoming year.

Who is the target audience here? The Lincoln brand has mostly been for older drivers, is their data showing younger drivers are looking at Lincolns now or are they trying to sway the younger drivers? Those older loyal Lincoln drivers are going to have a hell of a time keeping their eyes on the road with all those screens.

Wish they’d comment on how the top of the steering wheel blocks your view of the drivers cluster . That will Need a heads up or let you toggle the cluster with the map to view the cluster due some drivers , I’ve talked to over 29 people and at least 9 have the obstructed cluster on their seating position
I had a common misconception where I thought more screens the better. Then I got a a8 which has a 3 screen setup all 3 screens ended up being useless because everything from maps to music selected is all shown in the heads up display and actually visible when driving

I would say the phone is far more distracting because of it's tiny screen size. It takes longer to absorb the content than a quick glance at the large screen placed right at eye level.
I'm not an interior designer but that display near the windshield is too far for the driver and wil spend a couple more seconds trying to figure it out than looking at road.
I do not want or need that. Give me better MPG, better power, better ride quality, better handling, more steering feel. Literally all car people care about

The truth is that all of that is a fancy gimmick. You will fiddle with everything for 2 weeks until you figure out the settings optimal for you then never adjust anything again because why would you? To make it less convenient? Buy a car that puts a grin on your face every time you cruise around ,you will never get enough of that.

He’s claims ford has done the test and knows about the data test that have been done, yet has not memorized the single number, be it seconds or milliseconds this most important point. I personally do think it's OK. The screen layout will be set to my preference before I drive. I am already looking straight and side to side constantly whole driving normally daily. A quick glance to view some data isn't a distraction for me. But I can see some people getting distracted if it is too much information for them. But those folks probably already know their limits and won't get this.
how about less screens and shit, and a great, powerful engine, and an excellent transmission...not a crappy 2.0 liter wheezy 4 cylinder....wait till one of these screens goes out..

I use a phone mount in my car, was dealing with constant crashes in my old car and Bluetooth was a bitch to connect to the infotainment

many cars display the engine light simply because the engine isn't running just the electronics are on
