    The dealer wanted to charge my wife almost 500$ to replace these. Glad we have this vid instead.

      @@iandowell8272 It's really easy to do. I only have ONE tip and that is to put the bolts in the exact place they came out. They're not all made equal and may strip on the way back in if it's not in the exact place it came out of.

      @@iandowell8272Dealer quoted me $339 for plugs, I'll jst install them myself. They wanted $130 for two air filters, I bought both online for about half that price for Mazda3.

    Just came across this video. Thank you. It made it so easy for me to change the spark plugs, as a first timer. Good information!

    Tip if you're using the spark plug socket: when you're putting the spark plugs in, use the spark plug socket but don't press the plug in all the way into the socket. Put the top of the spark plug in almost to the point where the hex is almost in the socket but not quite. This is like using the rubber tube (because the plug is being held by the rubber in the socket) but always you to get the plug in more accurately than a floppy rubber tube.
    The spark plugs do a good job at self aligning themselves due to the design and once you've turned the extension a few full revolutions, you can pull the socket off to make sure the plug is threaded and then put in back on to tighten.

    Thank you for the CX-5 playlist. My brother has a 2017. I've added a Fumoto valve where a hose can be connected. I can drain the oil straight into an empty 5-quart jug while I do a tire rotation. I just ordered front/rear brakes/rotors, as well as spark plugs since he's getting close to 75K. I may also do the transmission and transfer case fluids.

    What is the extender tool called that you use on a spark plug socket while torquing it with a torque wrench? And what size?

    • @MaqsVids
      @MaqsVids  6 місяців тому +1

      It's a 3/8 inch extension. I believe it's 10 inches. A link to one is below. You can get cheap socket sets with them.

    • @alangolightly9850
      @alangolightly9850 Місяць тому

      The turbo has a metal bracket on top that has to be unbolted. 4 bolts.
      Otherwise almost impossible to change the plugs (except far left). Turbo is more difficult.

    why use the tube and just use the socket driver?

    • @MaqsVids
      @MaqsVids  2 місяці тому

      The tube reduces the risk of cross threading the threads on the head. Sadly, it happens. I have had to repair some. So, it is not absolutely necessary, but it is a good precaution.

    • @gongshow20
      @gongshow20 2 місяці тому

      @@MaqsVids But the tube was bent, my extension with a socket bit is going to go straight and you'd feel the threads getting cross threaded that way as well.

    • @MaqsVids
      @MaqsVids  2 місяці тому +1

      @@gongshow20 Again, it's not absolutely necessary. The tube will slip on the plug before crossthreading, the socket and extension would not. You . ..😉 do not have to use the tube. 👌👍
