great video for my first time planning project, should 3.1 and 3.2 be indented? then 3.2.1 indented? just a question in regards to the formatting of those cells
Thank you, pleased it was useful. That's right. You want the indentation to show the relationship between the rows. So, 1,2,3,4 should be on one line, 3.2 indented once, 3.2.1 indented twice and so forth.
@@deansdrone Yes it is. You get 2 templates upon purchase (both have been kept up to date). The one produced during this video, plus the additional gantt chart view: sowl.co/s/bec8nZ
Hello Ruchi. Great to hear it. Conditional formatting with icon sets would be the way to go. This explains it well: stevechasedocs.wordpress.com/2014/10/02/how-to-use-excel-traffic-lights-with-conditional-formatting-dates/
When you say that indenting “creates a parent child relationship” is that aesthetic or does it actually and technically connect them as a group with the first as the parent? Ie does that mean if you make a function that that is adding up the cost of each task/item/child, will it automatically restrict the sum to the parent group, AND THEN allow you to separately create a function which allows you to sum the separate groups together?
Hello. It's both. Aesthetic and technical connection. You can use different functions, for instance you could use the =SUM(CHILDREN()) formula in the parental cell to sum everything underneath...
Good video. A proposal for future video on this subject: how to link a Project Plan on Excel with a MS Proect file, so to have the freedom to manage the same database of activities on both softwares but for different scopes. Thank you
Love it! Nice video. I thought the PM Plan was a written document like in MS Word. Do you have anything like that? Wondering how that's developed from a planning perspective. (Typing it isn't a problem, just planning the flow).
Hello. I do have a video of how to create one in Word: ua-cam.com/video/XXSAkNSiUkk/v-deo.html. Sometimes you will find a project plan has sections with subheadings and text, such as (heading ) project scope, (heading deliverables), etc
Hi, thanks for the info. The Excel font made everything almost invisible (without a zoom-in option) and I had to listen to you more than read what you wrote. My eye sight is OK to read everything else on the internet.
Hello. Thanks for the feedback and I am sorry it was ineligible. I will consider this for future videos going forward and will use a different font. Thanks for letting me know and hope you still managed to get what you needed from it
Generally the list that drives the data validation should be in tables on a separate tab. Tables make it easy to expand the list, the separate sheet shops the validation lists being sprinkled all over the place.
That's a good point and a strategy I also use. If anyone reading wants to deploy this, you just need to create a new tab, add the dropdown values in a specified column and then run through the same process - except selecting the cell values from the column in the separate sheet as the data source.

Hello, dear sir, I am a internshil officer, my mission is to get work for project beneficiaries in organizations, but I don't know how to write a plan to reach this goal, can you help me?
One thing: Duration means nothing. Is it days, weeks, months, years, decades? I can clearly see that it is days but make sure that you are clear and consistent when naming things. Make sure that everyone know what everything is. Add a little summary on the top of what this specific sheet is for and what is it purpose as you will start with something simple like this but it will grow and expand. Always approach it with attitude: if I will send it to the most stupid person I know without any explanation, will they be able to understand it as I intended? If the answer is no then you don't have enough explanation in the spreadsheet. I know that it is a basic, not professional sheet but hey, put some effort in it and you can impress a lot of people.
