ALL my collagraphy courses use these machines, to find out more head to my website
Of course a traditional etching press will last a lifetime, but they are expensive if you are not sure you will continue with printmaking. A die cut machine will last you long enough to find out, then when you are ready you can invest in a traditional press. - Навчання та стиль
Service to humanity -- thanks Sally!
Great presentation video Sally. Feel as if I’m an expert now!. I shall be scouring EBay and Marketplace. Thanks.
Hi Sally, thanks so much, that was an awesome marathon of craft press testing! Will you also be doing one for the Crossover Tattered Lace, which I believe finally arrived?
Quirky Queens Journals told me about your channel today. I have an Accuquilt Go machine and I'm going to try this soon. I think it should work well and since I don't quilt anymore, it's available to use for printing. Thanks for the videos!
Great!
Very helpful video! Just wondering if the "Printmaker's Accessory Pack for Xcut Xpress" you linked to in your blog post would be compatible with the spellbinders platinum machine like you have shown here? I recently obtained the machine secondhand and I'm excited to try it out for printmaking.
Thank you Sally, for this review. I just got a secondhand Cuttlebug. I was going to make a bed from a plastic chopping board. You say felt for blankets - what sort of felt? And how thick? I have looked at yoga mats but can't find one that is completely smooth, they all seem to have embossed patterns for grip. I'm in New Zealand. Thanks a lot, Diana
Look for compressed felt, 3 - 5mm thick
Hi Sally, I am wondering if an electric die cutter would work as I am some neck and shoulder issues? Many thanks for demo on various die cut machines.
Presume you mean an electric roller die cutter? (electric ones like a silhouette or cricut dont have rollers just a blade)
I haven't used one, but one student tried an electric sizzix and the motor only lasted a few runs. These little guys are not hard, especially the Cuttlebug.
I've been using an old mangle that I created a printing bed for and it works perfectly. Bx
I'm in Canada, what is a mangle?
@@pennycandyys Hi Penny. A mangle was a kitchen or hard item to use for laundry to squeeze the water out of it by placing wet items between wooden rollers and turning the handle to get rid of the excess water. It works lovely as a printing tool. I'm sure you will have those in Canada too. Bx
@@bixnash1 Oh right, I was actually just thinking of those and wondering how they would do! Well more specifically I was thinking of the old washing machine that had the rollers and top and you heard stories of women who got their hair caught in them I think. Thank you!
@@pennycandyys check out this video of mine where I used the mangle for Lino prints. ua-cam.com/video/wXmc5PYvU-o/v-deo.html
Hi Sally: I have a question. Have you ever used a pottery slab roller? I have been a potter for 30 years and have a slab roller. Just wondering if that might work? It has a 24" wide surface and have often wondered if it might work for printmaking.
hi.. i havent but no reason why not. Is the gap large enough for the 'sandwich "?
@@sallyhirstartisttutor6324 Yes I think it can be raised to about 3"
@@cmumford1477 found this.. her print is very faint presume either over wiped or she needs more pressure
ua-cam.com/video/iUYGYrXHVss/v-deo.html
@@cmumford1477 does it have two rollers, one on top, and one underneath?
@@sallyhirstartisttutor6324 Yes it has one top and bottom
Hello Sally, did you ever tried a pastapress for printing a dry needleprint?
Yes.. it works but hard to handle as it is vertical?
Sally, I was looking for the x-cut xpress but I 'm afraid it's not for sale anymore. Certainly not in Belgium where I live. Do you think it is still possible to buy one?
@nikkipandelaers1476 I've seen a few on ebay. But the sizzix is great.
I could not find any info on the Big Sister.
Check out my blog post, "under pressure"
That was amazing for a beginner who would like to try printmaking. Found the sizzix and the Bira got the best clear results what do you think⁉️🤩
Couldn't really notice a difference between them. Any difference was my inking rather that the press. ☺
