Great pick with On the Beach... there are days that is my favorite NY record. Love this thread because it's brought me to channels like yours. Cheers Steve!
Thank you likewise I will check out your tag. On the beach never re-released in the UK? Certainly when I bought that copy about mid 90s no. I have other 90s ones that originally got me into him.
Steve - great video! Great set of answers. I certainly agree with 1970s and Ireland was an inspired choice. I’ve recorded my video but still need to edit and post. Happy New Year to you and thanks for taking part in Vinyl Tag 2024 - Cheers Bill
Great response Steve. Glad you decided to participate this year. Ireland was a great pick. Great Ian Hunter find. Steve and I are big fans. Yes to Funkadelic. I’ve had On the Beach going on 50 years now. It bombed when first released. Cheers.
Great Tag response Steve. I recall your video from June and was sorry you had such a crappy 2023...on the positive side, it's sometimes good to have breaks from the VC and re energise. I'm hoping to get my tag video up by eow. Here's to a better year for you in 2024.
Very good vinyl tag, I just discovered your channel and subbed you up, cool group of records everything from Floyd to Fugees great stuff, I mainly talk rock vinyl on my channel and post a few concert clips, thanks for sharing the great tag happy 2024!
Fun response! Ireland is a surprising choice. Totally get it but not a common choice, to be sure. Also the 70s Reggae was probably my deciding factor for selecting the 70s. The Score is a fantastic album, unfortunately I only have the CD - so far! Nice to find your channel. Hoping 2024 is a better year for all.
Hi Steve great response.. though you’re a bit of a veteran these days .. I remember that meet up in Bristol well , we must organise something for 2024 .. great win for the saddlers today 1/6 ! I couldn’t believe it 👍⚽️
Thanks Rob, I too was surprised by the result. Just before Christmas, we were calling for the manager's head. Looks like Birmingham is a good call for the next meet-up. I will keep you informed.
Hi Steve, superb response. I chose the 70's too. Lots of Stockport bands being shown in this years tag. Great singles. Ireland as an island has a superb history of bands. Clannad, Enya, Fontaines DC, Undertones, SLF, Van etc. Mike
Hey Steve! Nice Free albums! I didn’t realize they were the same year. I agree with you about the 70s and some awesome albums you showed for that decade. Cool Hot Legs album. Badfinger, nice! I love your idea with Pink Floyd dinner party. That would be amazing but I think that grenade would go off! Nice The Band! RIP Robbie Robertson. I love Irish music, great choice. Face The Music! Nice, although not my favourite ELO. Jeff Lynne is great. Wonderful Funkadelic too- I need that one. Nice Fugees album, I haven’t seen anyone show that before, especially an original. Great Neil Young! I don’t have On The Beach yet. Really great tag Steve. I enjoyed this!
Hi Steve. Great to see you back with the '24 Tag. With you on Waters. Easy to see why some egos ruin so much. Ya, losing Robbie last year was a big one. Him and Gord Lightfoot the same year was a real hit for Canada. I really hope Joni and Neil stick around for a while. I must admit, I know nothing about Human League - only the name. Same with Hotlegs. I should have a swim though their stuff. Yes! On The Beach, my favourite Neil album. I'd love to see it get a nice 50th anny treatment release this year. Fun watch Steve. Cheers, Jeff
Hi Steve. Definitely the first 2 band albums are classics. There other albums were good but not as strong. Your are the first to mention Ireland. I am personally a fan of jigs and reels. Well done with your tag Steve
Very good response Steve! The Decade and the Country were really a toss up between a few but... Thanks again sir I have subscribed! I think the album people don't have, is also going to be very interesting.
Ian Hunter and Free! Wow, you're off to a great start Steve! Hotlegs! Cool name for a band - I never heard of them before. Oh man....I recently posted a video of Badfinger's "Baby Blue", but if I'd had "No Matter What" on a 7" I would have gone with that one. What an incredible guitar tone on that one. I'm with you on Pink Floyd/Roger Waters. Cool Funkadelic story. Glad to hear you're planning to produce more videos in 2024. I enjoyed the video.
Hi Steve! New to your channel. First time seeing an Aswad album in the vinyl community. Great! Funny, I showed a Julian Cope 12" single in my vinyl tag! First tag choosing Ireland. Great records highlighting the Emerald Isle. I have a copy of that Funkadelic album on compact disc. Nico! Dare is excellent and I have that one as well. ✌
I chose the 60’s though the 70’s are also great. The 80’s were more corporate but I also love the 80’s. A lot of the 80’s that I love were on independent labels. Dare is a great choice.
Hi Steve thanks for subscribing to my channel. I've just found yours and just subbed to it. I can relate to some things you said. I was making videos up until July of last year and for some reason stopped. I was going through a job change amongst other things so was somewhat preoccupied . Some interesting choices there. Always good to see how others think. Love your answer to #18. You telling Paul off would be a hoot lol.😅😂 Anyway great video mate. Cheers from Oz 👍😊
I liked the variety of your 45's. I don't think that I remember Hot Legs. Those first two Band albums are amazing and Robbie Robertson was such a great songwriter. That's a nice story about the Funkadelic album. I keep hoping that I will have an album that "nobody has" but it hasn't happened yet. Wonderful 1974 selection.
Nice response Steve. Good choice of Free - Highway is definitely an underrated album. You need to do yourself a favour and give the new Stones album a listen - IMHO their best in a long while. Nice choices with Funkadelic and Nico (need to get some more of the latter into my collection). Snap with Mazzy's Wankers video and Abbey Rd (though I wish I'd thought of walking the other way 😂). Excellent choice for your 1974 album - one of Neil's greatest. All the best for 2024...Pete
Hi Steve. Nice vinyl tag response video with original pressings. You got in very early too ... I always perk up at a mention of power pop (Badfinger twice and Jellyfish) ... I prefer the 70's to the 80's too. To an extent it did become more corporate in the 80's. There WERE a lot of maverick independent labels, although it did become hard for the most ambitious of them to survive without major label investment (Sony with Creation for example). All the best, Carl
Hi Carl, apologies for the late reply. Thank you for the kind words. I love power pop. Some decent independent labels emerged in the 80s. Sadly the majors cherry-picked their best acts. Steve
Hi Steve - Imagine getting Pink Floyd back together. Ireland is an interesting choice. You might be surprised to hear that I do not have a vinyl copy of Sgt Pepper, but I do have a CD copy. Nico! Awesome. I enjoyed your video 🙂
Isn't it remarkable how Free is overlooked in the VC. Those are two splendid albums. Solid reasoning in favour of the 70s, and a great selection. And I agree, 'Dare' really is like a greatest hits album. Enjoyed the video. 👏🏻
Hey Steve. Loved that you showed The Band’s “brown album”. A great Canadian band 😁. Robertson’s loss hit me hard. I have Moondog Matine signed by Robbie. And Sgt Pepper as the album everyone has…I think I have 17 different copies. Maybe I have a problem? I need to get a UK copy of Boy by U2. The North American cover looks like s-t.
Thanks Rob, sadly there were so many to choose from but Robbie Robertson was the first name that came to my head. You don’t have a problem regarding Sgt. Pepper. There are channels that have many more copies. I do prefer the U.K. cover of Boy. I’m looking forward to watching more of your videos.
Hi Steve, as you say the vinyl tag is a good way to discover other vc channels, and I've just discovered yours. You showed some really good stuff, very enjoyable. If you want to interact with other VC people in the UK (and elsewhere) Iain's Ranking The Obscure livestream takes place every Thursday at 8pm. We're a friendly bunch and everyone is welcome. Cheers Mike
No, I didn't do last year's tag either, and much like you 2023 wasn't very VC orientated for me. I'm going to make up for it this year. Already done the sane number of videos I managed last year. I've not heard that Free album, but it was from that period where all the rock bands were starting to move in the direction of The Band, Dylan and The Byrds. It didn't seem to last long, mainly because the UK's music buying public weren't up for it. Good luck with Pink Floyd. Make sure you've got a taxi on speed dial. I like that cover on the Bank album, but I have a sneaky suspicion I won't enjoy the contents. Hed
Thanks Hedley, I am feeling more productive this year. Highway is worth checking out. If you liked the Bank cover you would fall over yourself had I shown the Cosmos album
Hi Steve. This is the best tag I’ve seen. Loads of good stuff here. If I hadn’t already chose the 70’s, you’ve sold me on it with that stack of records. I only wish you’d shown some No Sweat records when you were talking about Ireland. I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone mention them in the VC before. I bloody loved Heart & Soul when it came out! Nice Funkadelic too 👍
That is a marvellous , richly rewarding and wide selection.
Thank you.
Thank you for watching.
Thanks for viewing. The vinyl tag is the best thread to join. Steve
Great response Steve. Glad you did it. Need to do one myself
Cheers, Chris
Hi Chris, I look forward to seeing your tag video.
Great video! Really enjoyed your choices!! Especially your 45's.
Thank you, Todd.
New sub here! Rob inspired me to do the tag again! Happy to see fellow vc creator people's lists too 😎
Thank you for watching.
absolutely!! keep up the good work & keep on groovin your way@@SteveWhitty1965

Thank you Bill. I am glad you enjoyed my video. I look to seeing your video. Steve
Killer bro 🤘🏼
Thanks for passing by J.C.
good video, steve and i like "The Band" album
Thanks Dave, I hope you are keeping well. I managed to pick up a couple of their albums last year.
Hi Steve, nice tag response and glad you did it this year. I hope 2024 has some great finds once you've made space with the cull...
Thanks Dale. Hopefully, there will be some spare space.
Great response Steve. Glad you decided to participate this year. Ireland was a great pick. Great Ian Hunter find. Steve and I are big fans. Yes to Funkadelic. I’ve had On the Beach going on 50 years now. It bombed when first released. Cheers.
Thank you. Hopefully, NY will agree to a 50th anniversary
edition.
Great Tag response Steve.

Thanks Rob, I look forward to seeing yours. We will have to meet up in 2024.
Great tag Steve. Inspired me to do mine later this week
Thanks Harvey. I look forward to seeing it. See you tomorrow.
love the band Free, good picks
Thank you. One of my favourite bands.
Very good vinyl tag, I just discovered your channel and subbed you up, cool group of records everything from Floyd to Fugees great stuff, I mainly talk rock vinyl on my channel and post a few concert clips, thanks for sharing the great tag happy 2024!

Human League's Dare is all you need. Nice Tag.
Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment.
Always happy to see U2 get a mention somewhere in a positive sense. That Boy album is great.
Thank you for stopping my and watching my channel. I always loved the early U2 albums.
No problem! I appreciate you subbing too.
You aint got any shoes on you prat !!!
Excellent Steve 👍👍👍
Thanks Nick, it was either that or dancing on his toes.
Hi Steve, nice video mate. Look forward to catching up with you and the chaps sometime this year.
Thanks Chris, I think there is a consensus on meeting up this year.
Great stuff, I love Face The Music and your other choices were on the money. Agree about the Mazzy choice. Its great
Thanks Ken for taking time out to watch and comment on my video.
Fun response! Ireland is a surprising choice. Totally get it but not a common choice, to be sure. Also the 70s Reggae was probably my deciding factor for selecting the 70s. Hi, I wanted to give a different answer, plus the music is great. Great minds regarding the 70s. Thank you for watching my video.
Thanks for the sub. I’m following your channel now too. I enjoyed your vinyl tag - never heard of HotLegs. Going to check them out. 🎶
Thank you for following my channel.

Hi Steve. Definitely the first 2 band albums are classics. There other albums were good but not as strong. Your are the first to mention Ireland. I am personally a fan of jigs and reels. Well done with your tag Steve
Thanks Steve, hope you're doing well. I got drawn to Ireland. Maybe because my surname is Irish.
Very good response Steve! The Decade and the Country were really a toss up between a few but... Thanks again sir I have subscribed! I think the album people don't have, is also going to be very interesting.
Thanks for passing by. I have subscribed back. I too think there will be some interesting answers. Steve
Hi Steve, enjoyed your picks in particular the 70s era. We seem to have similar tastes in music. Well done. Subbed your channel.

Assholes is American no?
Mazzy hit the nail on the head I agree.
Nothing wrong with Birmingham lets do it before HS2 gets there though 😅
Hi Martin, maybe I should have said arseholes. I will look at the next date for the Birmingham Record Fair.
