About Spectre Sound Studios:
I'm Glenn Fricker, engineer here at Spectre Sound Studios. I love making records, and after doing it for sixteen years, I want to pass on what I've learned. On my channel you can find tutorials on how to record guitar, bass, real drums and vocals. There's reviews and demos of tube amps, amp sims, drums, mics, preamps, outboard gear, Electric Guitar, Bass Guitar, and plugin effects.
We've covered Moon on the Water, played Bias FX, given you the absolute best in Stupid Musician Texts, ranted & raved about bass guitar, and this channel is where The Eagle has Landed.
Everything you've wanted to learn about recording Hard Rock & Heavy Metal can be found right here on this channel!
I also respond to your comments & questions: The best make it into the SMG Viewer's Comments series of videos. Loads of fun, lots of laughs.
Thanks for checking out my channel & please subscribe!

I have a shirt that says” I didn’t mean to offend you, that was just a bonus”
I have a shirt that says "I Don't Insult People. I Accurately Describe Them", where'd you get your "Didn't mean to offend you" one, Roadkill T-Shirts? That's where I got mine.
MichaelD8393 Walmart
Really? Well I gotta check my local Walmart and see if they have it. Otherwise Roadkill T-Shirts has the same shirt too.
Glenn... Glenn... Please do a shirt that says "Tone is in your fingers" with double middle fingers.
Killer idea Quest...I'd buy that!
I will buy this
Absofukinlutley
"tone is in your fingers"
why does he hates the amp then? is that marshall amp keeping guitarists from producing the "right" tone through their fingers? 🙂
So would buy one !!!! Dam good idea!!!
love how the broken marshall is hanging on the back like a deer head you hunted down. Can't get any more Canadian than that
... and a couple of line 6 faceplates as well :)
Passive aggressive expression haha
The only thing more Canadian would be for him to call up Marshall and say, "Sorry, sorry..."
He should pour maple syrup on it to make it Canadian af
ahh classic Glenn, would anyone be interested in a compilation of all his rage and yelling? Would play it for bass players around the world
That would be great. I've been accustomed to the yelling. When he reads a " I couldn't tell the difference from my phone speaker" comment, I turn down my volume as his rage builds.
AutogolazzoJr ouu phone speaker comments are my favorite
hey Glenn can you drop me a link to the latest video you did on recording sound for your videos? Can't seem to find it
The Spider has some company back on the wall
Glenn's Wall of Shame XD!!
New T-Shirt idea: You throwing the Code off the building with the words "Cracking the Code"!
"Code breaker."
That's a winner idea!!
seconded
@@franciscodanconia3551 I imagined Halford screaming Code breaker! Like jaw breaker.
I can't believe you dropped that Marshall off of a building! What a POS! You could have done something way more useful with it, like blow it up!
I'll agree with that. Next time you have an amp to destroy, let me know and we can use it for some target practice or something!
Now that’s an idea!!
I think he needs to get a demolitions expert to do that, other wise the RCMP might come knocking.
not if he comes down here to the good ole US of A. :)
Eh, it's a small amp, wouldn't take much, unless we really wanted to make an example of how bad Marshall has gotten in trying to rip off young kids and adults getting into guitar.
Got a Joyo Zombie and a Harley Benton 2x12 cab sounds great very happy .
I love your videos man! Not only are they entertaining but they are extremely informative and I can’t thank you enough for that!
I made the mistake of buying a code 25 back in November, and at first I liked it. I even attempted to defend it on a video you had done earlier this year, but I realized after having it for months, I was never satisfied with the tone, always adjusting it. I sold it and bought two amps and a Behringer hm-2 clone and I enjoy those so much more than I ever could have enjoyed that amp. Next time I’m in the market for music gear, I will not forget to do some research
Yea Glenn you could have given it to a homeles kid...you know to light it on fire to stay warm at night lol!
The toxic smokes would be a health hazard, that thing is toxic!
Just because it has an iconic brand logo on it doesn’t mean it’s good. Ask any car guy about the Ford Mustang II.
That front suspension tho... lol
...or any BMW of the last 7 years or so. I say that as an incurable but bitterly disillusioned BMW fanboy.
You mean the Pinto GT?
Well said
Love mustangs. Hate the mustang 2...
Hey thanks for the great videos dude! Just got my first used Marshall jcm2000 tsl. You’re videos keep inspiring me to work on my tone. Keep it up dude!
This is one of the best videos you have done! I tune in every week but this video had me rolling laughing, started my weekend off great. Keep telling em off Glenn!
“we get to hear paint by numbers” that perfectly put into words what i’ve been trying to say for years
Glenn, I know, I commented the same under the Marshall destroying video but I feel that I have to repeat it. Thank you for beating the shit out of that shit. Just thank you.
Honestly, I think this is my favorite q and a. Keep up the great work Glenn!
Dude! Great video and I absolutely love all of your merch ideas
I've always thought that "tone is just in the hands" was bullshit, everyone would pick the cheapest amp and guitar possible and sound perfect in that case.
Yeah, absolute bs common myth, at least as far as electric guitars go. People can’t differentiate between great phrasing/musical content and tone.
It comes out more in lead parts. The tone is in there gear statement is specifically referencing metal rhythm. But ofc the same guy who sounds like a god on a hello kitty strat into a line 6 spider is gonna sound even better on real gear.
Can't it be a combination of both?technique and great gear?
@@Butwhy23 always, but in the context of metal rhythm the tone is often so saturated there's barely a detectable difference in the same part played strictly correctly from player to player.
@@Deathrape2001 yes, I can see your point...but you also did just say, how the manner in which a gutiarist plays certain stuff will bring out the best out of a gear. Kinda proves my point.
Let me ask you a question for argument sake....A person is given David Gilmore's exact gear and is asked to play the comfortably numb solo. Let's also assume that this person has the tab or sheet music for the entire solo. Will they be able to replicate Gilmore's solo as he plays it?
Why did you have to destroy it? Couldn't you have put an old line6pod in front of it for the ultimate keyboard warrior "well it works for me"-sound.
Although I believe that signal-chain violates the geneva convention.
Pop a Metal Zone in there somewhere and I'm pretty sure we'd prove, even to the most evangelical, that God is dead.
Add a DOD Grunge pedal to that signal chain, and you would create a bad tone paradox that would usher in the biblical apocalypse!
@@derpimusmaximus8815 ...and the MXR Fullbore Metal or whatever it's called. Plus Korg Miku because reasons.
Funny, entertaining and same time very informative! Keep up good work Glen!
Thank you for uploading this video, sir. You made my morning!
Hey Glenn,
Ola used a Metalzone as a Preamp and had crushing good tones.
But that was with his Randall Satan, do you think you can get good results using a Metalzone as a Preamp with the Joyo Zombie?
Yes, that's nice video...
I tried with a cheap power amp and it sounded decent enough
@@roach-2351
That's some good news, thank you!
I have a confession to make: I owned a Metal Zone back in the day when I was young and stupid. I lent it out to an acquaintance about ten years ago and never got it back, although he claims he's given it back to me.
Anyways, I don't miss it at all. If I still had it, I'd send it to Glenn for a fearless review - and hope it would get a well-deserved meeting with the Hammer of Truth in the end.

Hi Glenn! Love the show. Could you maybe review some studio tuners? I am wondering whether or not i should get a peterson strobe tuner and if it's worth it.
I recorded a grandfather piano recently as the basis of a song and basically I then had problems getting my guitars to home-in onto the slightly off 432 tuning of the piano.
I use a tc electronic mini poly tuner 2 and various different clip on tuners and software tuners. I wonder if the strobe tuners will give me greater accuracy.
Have you ever had problems with off-tunings of such and what would you recommend woupd be the best way of solving such issues? Scrap it or use it?
Thanks, Greetings from ze Germany ja!
Hello glenn recently found your channel and I love it ! Quality videos !. I have a question I recently picked up bass again do you have a practice amp you would recommend.
Maybe I'm just being a forgetful bass player and you did this, but whenever you do these reviews on crappy practice amps, it'd be cool to see a comparison of something you recommend in the same-ish price range. That way people who are watching who don't have in-depth knowledge of what can be offered in that price range can get a better idea of how the amps compare :D
Hey Glenn! I work for a tiny regional Media Center, and going through our basement, we found an ancient Urei LA-4 Compressor. We are trying to sell it to raise some money, and I would love to see it find a home in your studio. Interested?
Yes! E-mail me.. Contact info on my SMG page.
Email sent. Thank you for the prompt reply. You rock!
pumped for this vid!
Love the show Glenn! I am curious what your thought are on the Peavey 6505 Pirahna. I ended up buying one before I saw your video on the zombie and was at first kinda disappointed with it. But I got it on clearance and really couldn't return it. After upgrading the anemic stock pickups in my epiphone explorer for duncan black winters and replacing the single JJ ECC83 with a tung sol 12ax7, it sounds pretty damn good. I just picked up a maxon od808 for a ridiculous deal to boost it and it is absolutely brutal.
I had to go with a small bedroom amp because I am a casual bedroom player getting back into playing after 7 years and I have a 1 year old in the house who gets mighty frightened by anything loud.
Overall I am super satisfied with this setup, albeit more pricey than the zombie and I think it might be a good alternative to the zombie for someone looking for a brighter thrashier tone. I know there are a few caviats, but I still think it's pretty good for bedroom jamming.
Plus they can be found for mighty cheap used at ~$100-120 everywhere. Throw in the $15 dollar tube and you have something for about $135.
Love your stuff man, thanks for all the gear input. Not even a guitarist or really a metal/rock guy- play classical and jazz sax. But your reviews help me better understand where my current gear stands and how to make it better.
I think maybe we should remake the saying "Tone is from your fingers" to "Music is from your fingers, tone is from your gear" or something like that.
Agreed!
It makes a better video, if the bad amp is dropped from the roof.
Hey Glenn love the channel. I love the Marshall brand and I know for a fact the Code is shit. I own a DSL40C and a Class 5 Head(which I have running into a Harley Benton G112 with the V30, thanks for showing me that cab or else I’d be spending more on a cab). I am thinking of getting some recording equipment and I was looking at one of the Focusrite interfaces. Any recommendations? Also I know you rag on drum samples, but what do you think about using them for songwriting and making demos and not have them stand as the final recording by having a real drummer come in at a later time?
Cheers from the Windy City
P.S Chicago deep dish pizza is better than Windsor’s.
hey glen, what id your opinion on the beringer UMC404HD interface. love the channel keep up the good work. cheers from pennsylvania.

Oh this will be good
i bought a little 10 inch Orange Amp practice for my college dorm and it does the job fine. i wouldn't bring that on a gig though. i dont know why people dont understand this
Hey Glen I am from India and I really love to watch and learn from your videos, its been really help for me so far because of your bold & honest reviews. You saved my time and money so "thank you"and keep doing what you're doing it helps a lot to people like me. Love and support from INDIA👍🎼
HEY GLENN!
What's your opinion on software like Toontrack EZMix where it's just a lot of Presets doing the mixing and mastering for you? Do you think it takes away the value of studying and understanding what's important to a particular mix?
Holy shit!! That tone in the fingers video was so long ago!! Haha I remember when it first came out!
Instantly bought that shirt!
Hey Glenn. Just wanted to say thanks for putting on a good show. The show has inspired me to buy gear for a small home studio. Just enough to send some files back and forth with an old band mate a state away. I’m having a blast. All made much easier through your sage advice. Keep it up. I owe you sir.
Hey Glenn, I can't remember if you've already made a video on other bantAmps but have you tried and if you have what are your thoughts on the Joyo bantAmp VIVO (basically a 5150), and have you messed around with the mooer preamp pedals?
Cheers from the U.S.

Just relax, it's his amp, he can do whatever he likes with it.
Anytime I get a notification about viewers comments I feel the need to grab popcorn and sit back.
Hey, I've got a Randall 4x12 loaded with celestions. Think the joyo zombie would sound good through it? Love your channel btw. Thank you
I love your show, I have a lot of fun with your reviews and honestly learned stuff too.
"Why didn't you let a child wreck that amp?" Well in actual fact a 45 yo man child did destroy the amp.
Can we start getting that thug life meme everytime Glenn burns everyone?
Glen, you sold me on the Boss Katana head. Had it for a few weeks now and it's absolutely killer! Thank you for doing what you're doing, and know that it is appreciated.
Hey Glenn, what's up? I've asked everywhere on the internet and couldn't find an answer because apparently, it's a big no-no. Maybe you could answer? Let's say I recorded a few songs for an album and mixed one to my liking, is there a way to copy all the settings of that song like faders, panning, vsts, etc. to the other songs that are supposed to sound the same? Or do I have to copy everything one by one manually? I know about templates but I end up doing to many changes so they don't work for me. I use Studio One if that helps and of course I will do some tweaking after! Thanks!
Glenn for the really awful comments you have to turn the pitch on their voices higher and higher as you read them, in order to articulate how annoying they really are!
I watched your original video and was also put off by it. I am not a Marshall fanboy. I did not think you gave the amp a review for what it was, a beginners practice amp. You gave it a review for a stuio amp. Look modeling amps are great for two things; first giving a beginner guitarist lots of options so they can decide what the 2nd amp is going to be, and the second for cheap cunts like me who don’t have the budget for 20 amps to do home demos with. As the representative of a recording studio I would have expected you to have demoed the higher Marshall Code amps since that seems something more representative to your audience, studio producers. You dinged the amp for not having features of the higher watted amps, such as an extension speaker, an effects loop, and the USB audio interface (okay the audio interface sucked harry balls). I feel that you bias for the Joyo head and the Harly Benton cab represents someone who has already decided what their sound is going to be, not the beginner who is still cutting their teeth. I believe the 25 watt Marshall code is still a good amp for the beginning guitarist. Going back, all preset on-board settings suck, from the Marshall code, to the Fender mustang to line 6, to the Johnson J-station, so give me a fucking break. That is my two cents, and by the way fuck you Glenn
He also mentioned another practice modeling amp: The Boss Katana. He said it's a better solution for the same price as a Marshall Code. And of course the Joyo Zombie is above the Katana...
The reason he puts these shitty low watt practice amps to the studio is because that's what a lot of people do. I've done some studio work and also played a few gigs and God knows about 30% of the amps were shitty spiders and codes. He does this because that's what people bring in so he can tell people what's good and what is not
If the amp is marketed for beginners, then that's a great way to prevent them from ever picking up the instrument again.
Look mate, beginners already sound like shit, no need to pour gasoline on the fire by saying the Marshall Code is good for beginners.
The Boss Katana blows the doors off the Code, and the Joyo Zombie is an amazing amp for the price.
Sorry mate, Marshall really excels at tube amps. That's what they're good at making, and some of Marshall's most legendary sounds were done with a tube head. Their cheap solid state MG series wasn't all that great in my opinion, and the Code is a giant pile of crap.
Want something with the Marshall badge? Avoid the Code like it's herpes, and actually invest some money into one of their amps that sound great, like the Silver Jubilee, which isn't that overpriced.
Hey Glen, love the show! What's your opinion on mixing with Pink noise?
Best way to start my weekend! You're the man as always Glen! ☺🤘✌
I don’t get why Marshall lovers insist on defending this amp. I love Marshall as much as the next guy. Hell I use a Marshall DSL 15 and it sounds fantastic I love the thing. Marshall has a legacy of producing some of the best and most iconic amps ever made. The Code 25 is not fucking one of them.
Same goes for the god awful MG amps
Oh lord don't remind me of those.
I know. There are lots of MGs in schools and rehearsal rooms around here. If I ever got hold of one, it might end up "accidentally" getting dropped from a rooftop and/or getting placed behind the targets on a shooting range.
Not everything Marshall makes is great. Some of their amps just ain't great. The MG series is... garbage to say the least, and the Code sucks.
That said, Marshall makes some things that are just fucking awesome. The DSL series is great, the Silver Jubilee is fantastic, and an underrated Marshall amp I've been trying to find good deals for is the Marshall Vintage Modern 2466 100W tube head. THAT amp is a real gem amongst the rest of Marshall's killer stuff.
I personally own a Marshall 1960A 4x12, and, what can I say? It's rad, it kicks ass.
The only thing I got butthurt is that you dropped the Marshall from a _rooftop_ .
Should've dropped it from the Burj Khalifa.
You're awesome brother! Thanks for the vid. Needed a laugh today
Hey mate! Love your vids! What do you think about a practise amp - vox vt40x?
Man so many people being upset is proof that you are doing it right. Besides it is also hilarious to watch. I am also wondering why they keep throwing insults around instead of bringing up a reason why their beloved gear is so good. Shouldnt be that difficult to find one if it actually wasnt a piece of shit.
Alex Ganje you're like a halfie.
Glen will never put the good arguments up on his UA-cam, he ignores them or makes straw men arguments against them. Then when called out scurries away like a dog with his tail between his legs. He done it to me twice now when I called out bad advice he gave like buying from Slick Audio or disabling system processes without knowing what they do. It's almost like he's afraid of being proven wrong. Listen to Glen for gear and recording advice, never listen to Glen when it comes to musicianship, technology, or politics.
My Commodore 64 is better than that Marshal amp.
Ouch
Yes yes yes!!! I love when you do these types of videos! They’re my favourite
Hay Glenn, I've thought about nabbing some e-drums to beat on and sample with. (Volume control is a must when you have a noctournal lifestyle.) I love my drum machines but I like making those little mistakes and turning off quantizing now and then. Any reccs on a beginning edrum kit?
P.s. I have a pair of 5b wooden sticks and a Evans practice pad for striking to my studio metronome.
tone isn't in the fingers, the feel is.
If you could make good mixes you might not be stuck in your basement all day
Hey Glenn, I need some advice about recording studios and whatnot. Tomorrow and Sunday (as this comment is posted) me and the band I'm in are gonna be recording in a studio for the first time, and we're still a pretty new band, and I'm still a pretty new member as I got hired just three weeks after graduating high school. What I found out is that we will be having a recording session for 10 hours from 11 AM to 9 PM. Do you have any advice or tips on how to stay patient with that amount of time being in the studio and what advice do you have for any rookie band or artist for their first time in a studio?
Cheers from a local bassist from New York City.
Hey man. That Joyo Zombie looks pretty badass. Any idea how it compares to the Orange Micro Dark? I have the Micro Dark and I like it, but I would love to get another mini head.
I'm a proud owner of a few Marshall amps, and I will say the Code 25 is absolutely terrible. There are so many other practice amps that blow that thing out of the water.
Gold star for you. A bit like glen when he stated that he owned a mesa dual rectifier and a rectifier cabinet, but he still hated the cab clone.
I love your shirt! The shirt you’d wear at an SJW rally! 😂 I also love your taste in shirts and videos Glenn!
I'd wear the shit to a Trump rally.
Glen love the show. I apologize if this question has been asked before. Are there any magazines or books you would recommend for an absolute beginner?
Ah I wanted to see my comment it wasn't rude that's why maybe. Anyways kept up the good work also I have question, I want to get the joyo zombie amp but I don't want to be stuck to just playing metal, I want something more versatile. Any suggestions I would appreciate it if you responded to me thanks Glenn. Again keep up the good work.
If tone is in the fingers, cut 12 dB at 3k with your fingers. I'll wait. Glen, you couldn't be more right. "Tone is in the hands" is a bumper sticker, and a dumb one at that.
*Covers amp with a heavy cloth*
Puts ear plugs in
tone is in the hands? Yes, it is. Of course, the more 'signal processing' going on i.e. distortion, gain, delay, reverb, etc the less this is true. Up to the point where you put so much effect(s) on a tone that it's all down to gear and technique. I'll even piss off some more people and say that the more signal processing you throw on a guitar the less it matters whatever the fuck that guitar actually is providing the guitar actually plays in tune. What kind of pickups are in the guitar? Doesn't even matter. Well, as long as they aren't picking up that nice 60 cycle buzz.
I can't believe you threw a crappy amp off a building. Seems like a missed opportunity to leave it on the railroad tracks and have a Molson while waiting for a train.
Hey Glenn! Could you review the Peavey Envoy 110? I'm looking to get a fairly cheap guitar amp and am deciding between that and the Joyo. Keep up the good reviews!
What do you think of the Marshall DSL 40CR? I recently discovered your channel and subscribed.
Iknow people get angry with you destroying shitty amps, but whats the point on paying that amount of money for that amp, when for a similar price you could get the boss katana 50?
Marshall has sucked for a long time and their "tone" is garbage. Long live Mesa and Hughes & Kettner
Agreed
Well that's your opinion. But the reality is that without Marshall most of the rock and metal music we listen to simply wouldn't exist.
DeclanG very true...but historical importance does not make what they're selling now great. Marshall SERIOUSLY dropped the ball with the Code25, and have been playing catch up from behind, as far as modern metal tone is concerned, for the last 20+ years!
Must disagree. The JVM series is a monster of an amp, the DSL too is a fantastic beast
Disagree, but it's cool.
Hey Glenn,
How would you install your DAW in a way that gives you optimum performance? I ask because my PC is general purpose and I don't have the money for a dedicated recording machine. Would one install their DAW onto a seperate SSD and samples/vsts on an external drive for example?
Keep posting, and cheers from Scotland!
Hey Glenn thanks for responding to my comment last two weeks ago I want to know your opinion how do I get the best sound from my Marshall mg15dfx amp to sound like the original recordings of all the six doors albums. (Love your videos by the way)
i appreciated the review on this amp...I love your no bullshit approach!!
Hey Glenn,
So you keep talking about this zombie amp. Would you recommend it over the ignite emissary? I don’t plan on doing any live performances, I just plan on getting the best affordable tone for low tuned guitars (A and double drop D)
Hi Glenn, what do you think of the AKG Drum Set Session 1. Where I live it retails for about half the price of buying the individual mics: more than the Samson DK707 but less than the Shure PGA DrumKit 7. Cheers from the land Down Under.
Hey Glen. You mentioned the Katana but what are your thoughts on the Boss pedals (gt 1 and gt 1000 and 100) I use them in my studio and they are great.
So Glen, do you think the joyo would be suitable for playing shows at smaller and medium sized venues? And also do you think you could do a review on the micro dark as well in the near future?
Hey Glenn, greetings from Minnesota. When it comes to Music Production how much do you think college really matters? Im going to get my associates degree in Music Tech, but I was wondering that afterwards do I even really need to continue with schooling or should I just get to work?
Hey Glenn, I wanted to ask if you recommend mixing, mastering, and recording using reference headphones? I have people living with me so its kind of hard to use monitors as they're usually loud. Do you recommend any specific reference headphones?
Greetings from the United Arab Emirates!
Hey Glenn! I was wondering, I usually find that I start recording a song by laying down some very basic midi drums as they work better for me than a standard metronome. What usually also happens is that when I go to write drums, all the guitar and bass tracks are all off at certain spots and I have to track them all over again. Any tips on a work around? Thanks! Cheers from the Netherlands!
Hey Glenn! I've been thinking about buying a joyo zombie and a harley benton 1x12 to replace my crappy practise amp. But the zombie doesn't have a footswitch so i was wondering if it were a better idea to get a clean joyo amp, for example joyo bluejay, and just use my distortion pedal as my gain for live stuff? thoughts?
Hey Glen I wanted to know your opinion on whether or not bands still need large amp setups. Most local bands I see performing are using 2x12 fender or marshall combos (not the CODE) because they can get loud enough for a house show and the smaller venues like the skate shops and pizza places have surprisingly good pa systems so bands don't really have the loudest gear. With better pa systems becoming more affordable to venue owners do you think musicians will need to travel with stacks anymore?
Hey Glen! I absolutely love the show!! I'm a psychedelic folk musician and also the lead audio guy in my av class. I got a question that I don't know if you'd know the answer just because of the music you record(Because folk is almost total opposite). When I record I really want to sound huge. Like just a really rich huge tone but with an acoustic. Is there anything you'd do with a mic, recording process, or post productions,m to get a huge tone with acoustic. You've been doing it for years with metal but I'm curious what you'd do with acoustic stuff. Thanks Glen! Have a good one (btw I don't play the same music as Bob Dylan lol. I'm more of a siman and Garfunkel and Nick drake kinda guy.)
Hey Glenn which amp emulation pedal (for DI into PA system) do you like? I realize you're usually more into reviewing actual amps but you did demo the BluGuitar amp pedal so I just wanted to know your opinion.
Hey Glenn.
Did you get the chance to check out the Boss Katana MK2 since the one you had on the show was the older one. I'd love to hear your thoughts on it.
Man, i know i won't be able to get a shirt soon, but lemme tell you how much i fucking appreciate you offering all the way up to 6XL. Over the years i've been losing weight, but i'm still a 3XLT, but almost no one offers Tall sizes so i have to get 4XL to cover, but SO FEW band shirts or graphic shirts that i want are EVER in anything higher than a normal 3XL. So seeing up to 6XL makes me hopeful to snag one of your shirts one day. Awesome work and FUCK you Glenn!!
Hey Glenn what's your oppinion on using pedals as your gain stage (with it being cheaper than a metal head) as I currently run my pedal rig into a orange crush cr120h clean and have been getting good results but not sure weather I should step up to a metal amp head with so much needing upgrading in my studio
Hey Glenn, I've been searching for a tutorial on how to mix instruments that are not typical in metal, such as the flute, to make them fit on a metal record, mainly because I play the flute myself and I love when bands experiment with different instruments, for example Dead Soul Tribe or Diablo Swing Orchestra, but I haven't found any. Any advice on that subject? Love your show, greetings from Chile
This was awesome.I enjoy your show because you have been teaching me about gear. What not to buy and what to buy. Thanks for suggesting the JOYO zombie. It's been very kick ass! I also bought the Havey Benton 1x12 speaker based off your review. Good investment. I'm a novice to recording so I wouldn't know what to ask you or waste your time but I'm working on that.
YEAH! Stay FEARLESS💪
I'm looking to buy new studio headphones. Any recommendations?
I'm currently trying to build my first pedalboard with Joyo pedals and I must thank you for exposing me to this company! Currently got the Ultimate Drive and when used like a TS drive but with the tone knob cranked it sounds very unique!
That line “hey, don’t buy that gear because it’s a piece of shit” is something I wish I heard you say before I bought the combo. I’ve owned it for about 1 year and I got it to sound appealing to me with a DS-1X and CS-3 in front of it, but the other effects just weren’t doing it for me. I also wasn’t about to drop cash on dozens of other pedals because I’m primarily a drummer and my pockets aren’t that deep. The amp never really held its own against my drum set unless I dialed the bass to 0 (to eliminate any speaker flubbing/distorting) and cranked mids and highs (to boost overall volume), which sounded amazing~. Anyway, thanks to your channel and Chapman’s I decided to invest in the Helix LT paired with a Yamaha DBR 12 and I wouldn’t ever look back. Love what you do and I personally believe you’re doing a great service for consumers of all levels. Much love from Rhode Island.
