      My Dad goes to sleep
Really - and it's not an insult to either man - Dad has always loved Attenborough docos, has watched every one he could since as long as I can remember - but ten min in and I guarantee you he is quietly snoring away...
It's a long-running family joke. The fact Sir David's voice has this effect on him really bothers him - many is the time I've heard him say "but I find it so fascinating!", with great frustration...

Which is why he's used in so many climate change indoctrination videos, so people believe the information without questioning it. Look up all the organisations berating him for lying about polar bears, for example. Their numbers are dramatically increasing yet he was telling everyone their numbers were falling because of climate change.

You know, I'm really sad that I didn't get to see those nature documentaries in the original as a kid. Our national tv bought them from the BBC but we only ever got to see dubbed versions. So, David's voice isn't linked to those documentaries I saw as a kid. And I have no idea who the unknown narrator is. And they probably used several, so there probably doesn't even exist one consistent voice that could evoke that kind of nostalgia in me....

Sir David Attenborough narrated wildlife specials like so: "This is the Saltwater Crocodile, one of the most aggressive and voracious of all the Australian reptiles. Hiding in the murky waters of billabongs and the like, this magnificent creature lies in wait, ready to ambush anything it can catch."
Steve Irwin, on the other hand, said things like this: "Oy! Look over there! That is the massive Saltwater Crocodile, one of the deadliest hunters in Northern Australia. It'll hide in the murkiest of waters until 'BOOM!' it jumps out of the water and drags its prey down into the depths. Let's wrestle with it!"
Both were masters of their craft, and hopefully Sir David Attenborough will continue for another few years to come. RIP Steve Irwin.

If only we could have Steve Irwin be able to join in the fun and talk about the croc and how beautiful she is. 🙂
Steve Irwin made such wonderful contributions to our world. He's very much loved and missed.
