So true I was a teenager when Marvin dropped this & Im now 63, so much has changed but yet some things are the same! Ex. Racism, Violence, Hatred😢😢 God help us🙏🏽🙏🏽
And they'll always be true unless mankind doesn't get off of this polluted planet. Mankind should *never* do to a planet what it has done to the Earth. It was immaculate and we ruined it.
Yes you are absolutely right. Listened to What's going on tonight with my eyes closed and envisioned all the negative things in our world. You were before your time Marvin Gaye. I'll do my part in smiling,in kindness and giving.❤
The music of today - especially violent and aggressive rap rubbish - is an insult to all those who crafted and sang beautiful songs like this. Rest in peace beautiful Marvin. 🎶💙
I disagree. Some of these are only telling us about their life. And in the end, I would rather trust them more than these phony, mask wearing synthetic people anyday.
I strongly disagree. I used to have the same opinion. Some of it is rubbish. Not all. Every one of these artists have a story to express themselves. Their music tells their experiences. It actually helps some sectors of society. In the world that we live in, not every life is about love and peace. Violence is also. Hurt, pain revenge, etc. They reach folks and relate to their experiences as well.

I am also 70 years old and was 17 when I started listening to this album this specific song is so relevant to today. Amazing isn’t it? I still and will always love Marvin❤❤😢😊😅
I'm 68, this and other great tunes of that era, help me get thru my 3 years in the US Army, starting in 73. I wish all of the Musicians of the that era well!
Marvin Gaye through his song Mercy Mercy Mercy Me he made every person young & old, rich & poor black, yellow, brown & white, feel the woes of the whole world. I was only 11 years old when I 1st heard this song and I instantly felt his passion for the pain & suffering of the world & it laid heavy in my conscious and in my heart as it echoed in my ears & I realized that pain & suffering is real but only our Father who Art in Heaven can heal the hearts & minds of mankind. But Marvin Gaye brought the reality of pain & suffering to the forefront of everyone who who ever had ears to hear this song & through this song he will always be remembered.
I remember my mom playing this song over and over again, i'm 59, I really didn't understand what Marvin was saying until she passed away in 2006, and I started playing it just like she did, driving my kids crazy like she did me. so glad moms introduced me to such a awesome singer, muchlove to moms and Marvin❤

In a way, he is…but I get your point. Marvin Gaye’s one of those talents that you figure would be doing amazing things in the studio if he was still around. I think the same thing about Jimi Hendrix. Maybe a Marvin/Hendrix collaboration…?
This song from Marvin Gaye is very appropriate for today’s world. Unfortunately, it is true today as it was yesterday with lyrics that depict the true reality of the times we are living. LOVE Marvin Gaye, and love all his songs. It is too sad that he is not in this world anymore, he was gone way too sooner. May Marvin continues to Rest in Peace always and may he continue to sing to the Lord and to all those who have passed away…….they sure can appreciate Marvin Gaye and his music. He might be gone but will never be forgotten in the minds and hearts of those who follows good music today and always. 🙏🌹🙌👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

62 years old living in south ga. I'm out here on the satilla river on my cabin porch chilling. Those days were good. I remember riding bikes in the cities in Michigan late at night with my sister and her friends . Life was like a dream you were in it was peaceful , calm and fulfilling. Darn shame it turned out like this. Peace to all.
I am 59 and have experienced Marvin Gayes songs when I was younger. I must say this song touches something in my soul. I thank the Lord for bring these kinds of songs to my generation.😢😢 🙏
Marvin played on the radio throughout my teenage years. Knew the words to all his songs. But I was young then. Had yet to discover the sadness he spoke of. Looking back now, I understand his heart. His sorrow. For I feel them too. You must have called to my heart today because your words began spilling out without notice. You will always live in the hearts of all of us who have always known you and in the ones who are just discovering you. An Angel on High, you will always be. A soul of peace and love ❤️
Marvin Gaye was a power house of fantastic words, lyrics, composition in music and he was sure our jam growing up...just love his music still to this day ! What an artist.
I had the opportunity to meet Mr Gaye in person. When I was a child he would give money to the children in my neighborhood. He wrote music with my neighbor. So true I was a teenager when Marvin dropped this & Im now 63, so much has changed but yet some things are the same! Ex. Racism, Violence, Hatred😢😢
God help us🙏🏽🙏🏽

He was ahead of his time 😢all the things he sang about in this album are true today
God Bless you.are so True Thing will never be what they used to be Marvin told us about that a long time ago ❤
Soooo true.. makes you even sadder. He knew ...
Was true then too 50+ years ago, will be true 50 years from now God willing.
Mom had this album, played it all the time. RIP mother, love you forever.🙏♥️🌴

I generally agree. Music today sucks. I do think only Indy and hip hop have anything to offer

Ja lieber Carsten es geht weiter, unsere Musik besteht fur ewig. Love to you.
