I agree with the "different manufacturers have different thickness of grips" point. It's always a good idea to buy a gun that has the ability to change grips on. Like with my Taurus PT-92 -- it's like a Beretta 92 in size and looks, but the factory grips are definitely thinner than the Beretta.
In my fantasy world, Brandon is a black belt in jiu jitsu, n he walks around the table and makes Kaya tap out in 3 seconds, then continues with the video 🤣
Firing pin block safeties do not prevent a rimfire firearm's firing pin hitting the breech face when the chamber is empty. A firing pin block safety engages a notch in the firing pin until the trigger is depressed. Dry firing requires depressing the trigger. It would require a mechanism that limits the firing pin travel unless the space between the the rim recess in the bolt face and rear of barrel. Or the firing pin channel in the bolt prevents the firing pin contacting the barrel.
Yeah, I don't know where he's getting that from. Nearly all striker guns have a firing pin block safety, and the function is completely different from what he's describing. If he just means that the firing pin is limited in travel so it can't reach the breech face, that's entirely different. But I've personally never heard of that, I would think that a design like that would really be a problem for reliability in rimfire applications.
@@JoshJones-37334 The Ruger 10/22 series (and MK series pistols) have an oval cutout in the firing pin with a cross pin going through. That pin limits the travel of the firing pin.
I've actually been actually been playing with a 45 with a 185gr. Ballistically/recoil pretty similar to a hot 40 but with a little less penetration which i appreciate
The last point is so important. It's why I always tell people to rent a few 1st before buying & see which one fits you better. Never fired a P89 before I bought one and as much as I love it, it's a little chonky. 🤣
When it comes to the hand size, I think thats where Smith and Wesson really took the cake with their M&P 2.0 full size line... They come with 4 different sized palm swells. Take 45 seconds to swap out the palm swell and you go from "big beefy hand" grip down to a "tiny girly"hand grip. My swap from the M/L down to the S on my 10mm and my aunt is able to comfortably use it.
Good video Kaya! Most people would make the error of the 509 for smaller hands, but not the best application for smaller hands. CZ's thinner grip structure is very well fitted for smaller hands. 👍
Hey man, I know you're new to being the main guy on the videos. Just popping by to say you're doing a good job! Hang in there and it will all work out great. All the best to you and your team there!
Kaya, can you provide us a link to the FBI study? I read some of it years ago but I can't find it linked anywhere anymore. I hear that report quoted over and over but nobody ever has the report. Surely a former FBI guy can find a link to it 😁.
I've never heard "the smaller the gun the better recoil management". Now, the smaller the gun, the better chance my small hands can control/hold onto the gun, yes but not the same thing.
For dry firing .22, you can't just trust the gun manual either. I know for a fact that the Ruger LCP II in 22lr is NOT safe to dry fire, despite the manual saying otherwise. Unless you enjoy replacing firing pins, anyway.
A person with smaller hands doesn’t necessarily need a small-medium grip. As long as the sum of Both hands don’t leave unused handgrip. HOW you grip a gun is often misunderstood. The more skin you have on a handgrip the better, if done properly.
am going to buy a Kimber shadow ghost in 9 for range gun them later a Kimber Rapide dusk in 45 for EDC. right now I have a cheap S&W SD40 2.0 as my EDC, great handgun.

@@TROOPERfarcry I would assume some new firearm people don't think about the caliber, they possibly just think gun size is an indicator of the round it shoots, smaller gun = less power. Like typically how a 45 cal pistol is generally larger framed than a 9mm, a 22LR is generally smaller framed than a 9mm, etc.
45 vs 9mm yes the 45 is better. Terminally. If both are hp and they work grate. If they dont work biggest hole the best. For carry the 9mm has reason that its tge better rd to carry. But i am more interested in Terminally.
9mm fan boy on the 9mm 45 acp debate I'm shocked on the answer lol.. 45acp is all about kinetic energy. Yes 9mm is cheaper when you compare nato roundball or range ammo.. when you factor in the exspense ammo to get those numbers every one talks about it is significantly more exspense or 50 round 45 acp box same price as 20 round 9mm box.. But I digress 😂😂
My EDC is a S&W M&P 380 EZ because it's so slim and light, and with the holster I have for it, I forget I'm even wearing it, which has led me to bring it into "prohibited places" without even thinking about it (well of course I left and put it into a lockbox in my car). But it's snappy as heck, even for a .380. Both my 9's are softer shooting becasue they're slabs of steel, and the .45 too, so I get it... I wish I could feel comfortable open carrying, but we're not there yet, and there are other risks. Sigh. If only we lived in a perfect world.
Dude, you have to do a video on the best guns for people with very small hands . I have a coworker who has very, very small hands and is intimidated by all the sizes of the guns that I personally own.
Are you talking grip size, or frame size (like compact, subcompact, micro)? If it’s the former, there’s not necessarily a hard and fast rule with it as some people prefer thicker and some prefer thinner grips. Personally, despite having massive hands (I can easily palm a basketball) that I can wrap comfortably around pretty much any handgun, I prefer my p10c with the small backstrap installed and my SP-01 with thin profile grips. And so does my buddy who’s a foot shorter and has much smaller hands. So it’s just about finding what feels good in hand. If it’s the latter, well, honestly there’s not really any way to get more comfortable than practice and familiarity and that would probably be the best way to go. As pointed out in the video, the smaller the gun the more snappy it’ll be (with the same caliber). So going to a smaller framed gun maybe make them more comfortable gun in hand/size wise, but at a cost of a less comfortable shooting experience. The only way to kind of get both a smaller gun that’s not as big of a jump in snappie-ness is to drop in caliber, so from 9mm to .380, and for that there’s stuff like the s&w shield plus in .380 or the new bodyguard 2.0 that got a lot of love recently.
9mm vs. 45 ACP? Never forget that people are not made of 10% ballistic gel. We have to look at actual historic street performances. 9mm is NOT as good as 45 ACP in real shootings. Why? Way too many departments use 147 grain 9mm which might as well be FMJ, and the terminal performance is absolute shite. When you use 115 or 124-grain +P or +P+, then things look much better for 9mm, until you do the same for 45 ACP and use 185-grain +P or +P+. The ONLY advantage 9mm has over 45 ACP is felt recoil and magazine capacity. If anyone actually cared about terminal performance they would still be using 40 S&W firing 135 grain bullets at high velocity. Neither 9mm or 45ACP even comes close to what that stuff can do. Stop drinking the 9mm Kool-Aid. Also, it is "Out the gate" not "Off the gate".
Range trip earlier this year… my friend’s kids were shooting his 9mm Glock all day, but were terrified to shoot my 9mm 1911. They didn’t care when we tried to explain the physics of mass and recoil.
Why would you make this argument 🤦🏾♂️ you took a carry gun and compared it to a full sized gun to make this argument make sense you’d have to take a 9mm 1911 and a 45 acp 1911 and test the recoil impulse if you cambered a p365 in 45 and compared it to the 9mm p365 what do you think the out come would be my friend ?
