    Final video of the quick comparison between base/standard exhaust and sports exhaust on a Porsche 911 992 Carrera. EU Car with OPF (Otto Particle Filter). Both exhausts are stock. The base exhaust has had around 10.000km the sports exhaust is new. This might have an effect over time since I heard some experiences which state that the sports exhaust also sounds a bit rougher the more miles it gets on it. So take this comparison with a grain of salt. Environmental temperature and motor temperature have been around 10 degrees in difference (4 degrees celsius vs. 14 degrees celsius).
    When driving I notice a few more crackles when downshifting compared to the base exhaust, which also does them. That's a little difference.
    In terms of the general myth that the base exhaust is an absolute no go I must say that this isn't true. It's mainly for the look (oval vs. rectangle), the active flap control and a few more crackles so far.
    If you're looking for an aftermarket exhaust (which would definitely enhance the sound and volume, but is not allowed in every country and might affect your warranty), maybe getting the different rear bumper insert (black part where the number plate is fixed) and the parts for the oval exhaust trim might be cheaper than getting the sports exhaust.
    If you want the physical button for the manual control of the exhaust flap on your dashboard = Sports Exhaust or car coding for getting the button on the control display.
    If you might consider quad pipes for an aftermarket or prefer the rectangle pipe look you're safe to order the base exhaust.
    Instead of many others, including reviewers, my sales consultant always told me that there's not this big of a difference between the two exhaust systems compared to previous models where the difference between the two stock exhaust systems was a lot more noticeable. The rev limiter also has an effect on it. Only a few reviewers on yUA-cam like CarVia where very honest to state that they weren't able to hear a significant difference in sports mode between the two exhaust systems on a base 992 Targa 4 • PORSCHE TARGA 4 2020 i... . You can listen to a few drive by's in this very good review, too.
    I'm not able to do any more cold revs because this isn't good for the motor and I can't do da driving comparison since this is the same car. But I can honestly say that sound wise, I have been happy with the base exhaust inside the car. I just prefer the silver chrome look of the sports exhaust compared to the brushed steel of the base exhaust and I got the car at a decent price so fitting the PSE afterwards wasn't this big of a financial problem.
    Beware that fitting it afterwards at a Porsche dealer might cost you around 2500€ for the parts and around 1500€ for labour which is definitely more than getting it right if you can order the car new from factory.
    I hope this helps with your decision and always question any advice which states that accessory or option XY is a definite must have on a car like this. As a Porsche employee told me: Porsche isn't interested in selling any "shit" car, which also means that you can honestly see every single option as just an option and a personal preference for "your" car.

    Would be interesting to hear an in-car comparison, I think the differences are more noticeable showing that you can comply with exterior noise regulations but increase interior driving experience.

    The difference in person is massive. I would recommend going to a dealer and listening to PSE in person, especially after the cold start warms up. Very big difference - not so noticeable in video.

      @pholux  Рік тому +3

      After it warms up the sound decreases even more but we might differ in terms of the model specification. Both PSE models I drove were less noisy after warm up than the base exhaust here in the EU.

    • @elmfur
      @elmfur Рік тому

      @@pholux Yeah the volume decreases but once the car is at a warm idle the throatiness of the PSE is way more noticeable than without. And you can hear the turbos whistling a lot more clearly with PSE. But I'm in US so it may sound a little different since we don't have the restrictive particle filters y'all got over there, so you're probably right on that one!

      991.2's PSE sounds way better than 992's, unless you have a NA spec car with no OPF 992 PSE sounds awful.

      @@malfunctionedbrain6854 yeah... I'm lucky enough to have an NA 992 and I LOVE the sound of the PSE, but these videos of the EU specs with OPF is a little sad

      @@elmfur I did a few tests now while driving and I think it sounds very good if you rev it high enough. Going 150km/h to 220km/h full throttle it screams and appears to sound very good, at least from the inside. But you can't do this on public roads in the rest of the world I think ;)

    I get showing a cold start, but you have to wait for the cars to come down to idle THEN show the sound differences. Also, part of what really makes PSE sound better is being paired with the Sports Chrono package so the engine mapping is tuned to sound sportier.
