    Nice informative video and congrats on your nicely specced car! I too had the red interior in my previous 991.2 C2S.. it made it feel that bit more special! Also, I didn't spec the sports exhaust on my previous 911 either.. mainly from a looks perspective and after watching a sound comparison video from Nik Murray, it convinced me not to spec it. Even though it was a touch quieter, the quality of the sound was better.. I suspect it'll be the same story with the 992.

      Yeah I really wanted the black but I wanted a contrasting interior. I really would have gone GT silver with the spilt red but I had a silver 718 before it. I would have gone all red but in the 992 the full red interior leaves the middle of the steering wheel with the black plastic frame but a red air bag and I just didn't like the visual of it.
      I couldn't tell a noticeable enough difference to pay the money for something that just changed the sound. I think it sounds good enough on it's own. Plus as you said in your other comment, the feel and the other things are more important now. I am happy with the way the rest of the car performs.

    Thank you for this video. Am considering a 991.1. Test drove a C4. Glorious engine sound when flooring it. When driving steadily at low, country Lane, and motorway speeds all I could hear was road noise. Trying to figure out if that’s the way, your video led me to assume this may be how these cars are, despite the salesman offering no feedback on this!

    The only read difference is with PSE you get all the pops and burbles which is fun for about 5 minutes. I did not order it and do not miss it. However the road noise in 992 C4S even with Michelin tires is going to make me sell the car. Look up Symposer delete kit on Flat 6. I will probably just plug those two pipes from the inside and see if that helps with the noise. With all the hundreds of options Porsche offers they should offer a "interior sound silence" option that brings extra sound insulation in the car panels and floor.

    For the wind buffeting I bought some wind diffusers from Awe that goes on the little triangle next to the mirrors for my 991. Best 100 bucks i've spent hands down. Cruising with the windows down at 75mph is quieter than what it was oem at 35 mph

    👍🏼Great videos Steve detailing some of the subtle aspects of 992 ownership. I have a 2022 on order but not sure I will execute when allocation received as it's 120K US$ cost over my old Mustang GT that I still love driving

    • @Get10Yards
      @Get10Yards  3 роки тому +1

      Wow okay yeah if you still love driving that I can imagine it is a big cost step up. Glad youre enjoying the videos hope they are helpful. If the prices are still riding high maybe you could take delivery and enjoy it for a few months then sell it on without too much loss. The trade in price here in the UK is still riding above what I paid for mine new!

    Really appreciate you take the time to thoroughly explain the value of non sports exhaust. I believe the money will be better spent on full leather interior. I will probably hack my stock exhaust buy removing unnecessary packing and removing some sections of perforated piping that he factory system has. Then Cerakote the whole system to prevent corrosion. Probably spend less than $1000

    • @Get10Yards

      We have different regulations on emissions I think in the UK/Euro zone which would hinder us from legally messing around with it. Would stop it passing road worth checks etc (not that it seems to stop it happening). But yeah I think in terms of modifying I can imagine you can get a better result than the sports exhaust if you have the knowledge and ability to change or modify the standard one. I think the US car likely comes with a different exhaust system anyway due to regulation differences? The Euro cars all round are getting completely muffled from Euro regs.

    Good video Steve as always. Those wide tires do make some noise depending on the road surface. I passed on the sport exhaust because it does nothing for performance, only sounds different. Hope all is well. Cheers😎

    • @Get10Yards
      @Get10Yards  3 роки тому +1

      Hey Gilbert! Hope you’re well! They do and there has been more and more roads breaking up during the pandemic not getting fixed. The noise is so much lower on the ones that have just been done!
      Indeed I don’t see the value in it. All the car reviewers pushed it hard when the S first came out. All the best!

    Have the same car but I have sport chrono as well. I find myself shopping aftermarket exhaust systems after 2 months of ownership. I prefer the quad pipe look over the oval PSE so it looks like some sport cats and exhaust from kline or soul are in the near future. Stinks having to shell out another 10k to make it sound like it should have all along

    Hello, I'm a person who likes your videos I wonder if you can hear enough exhaust in sports mode Compare with 718

    • @Get10Yards
      @Get10Yards  Рік тому

      On the 2L 718 i had i felt the exhaust was louder in sport but that car was before a European emission rule change and they changed the exhaust on the new models. That car was 2018 model. If you are high up the revs in sports modes on all models you can hear the exhaust. Sports exhaust or not but the newer the car the more muted the engine note is. Not sure where you are in the world but I know everywhere has different rules to pass that will effect the exhaust for a normal road car. The current 4.0l GTS has a different sound again as you may expect so it’s hard to make a like for like comparison.

  • @davidwilliamauston
    @davidwilliamauston 3 роки тому +1

    I’ve heard both. It’s nice to have the button option for the louder exhaust but I bet most people don’t have it on very much. Too loud and annoying to neighbors and can’t hear the radio.

    • @Get10Yards
      @Get10Yards  3 роки тому

      Yeh that’s a fair point David. If I’m leaving just the street in a morning the neighbours can hear the cold start just on my car.

    Are the dual exhaust pipes aftermarket or is that standard for the newer models ?

    • @Get10Yards
      @Get10Yards  Рік тому

      They are sport tips which are a cost option. Its a bumper tip piece. They aren’t the end of the exhaust pipes

    Hello steve.. thanks for the great informations.. i have a question… does these exhaust make popping sound..?! or only the sport exhaust can do..?

    • @Get10Yards
      @Get10Yards  2 роки тому

      When I had it in sport and got it up high end on the revs on change over I did still get some pop and bangs. It was nowhere near as much as my 2.0 718 which was pre emissions change over though. That sounded better even on a cold start up.

    PSE is very irritating. Standard exhaust sounds better. The quad on 992.1 c2s looks a lot better too.

    Some say reduce the tyre pressure from 45 to 38 psi which substantially reduces highway noise. Can you try and then post?

    • @Get10Yards
      @Get10Yards  Рік тому

      I personally wouldnt change from the recommended pressures. The tyres are too expensive to get uneven wear. Other than that it would likely impact the handling depending on how you drive the car I would assume.

    • @skifastrockhard
      @skifastrockhard 19 днів тому

      I lowered the pressure on my 992 and put it in comfort mode I believe. The cars are shipped at full pressure. Did nothing for the loud road noise but the ride felt a little better. Still pretty stiff.

    • @Get10Yards
      @Get10Yards  3 роки тому +2

      It is the loudest road noise interior car I have owned. I'm sure on older models it was likely drowned out by the unmuffled engine noise pre emissions.

      @@Get10Yards I am probably selling mine. It only has 1,000 miles. Probably explains why I see so many 911's for sale with 1,000-3,000 miles. I really prefer taking road trips in my 2022 Audi RS3 which is just as fast.
