    Just fitted the Mountune short shifter which I bought from eBay that came with a poly bush for the gear linkage cable (replaces the black plastic/rubber). Never seen one of the bushes before. Then changed the gearbox oil and fitted this solid bush. I've only got a 1.4L but the play in the gearstick was really annoying me and liked the idea of the short shifter. The only play that I have now is like you said a bit in the cable and there seems to be a bit of side to side play in the gear selector itself (the part that the knob screws onto) which was present even after popping off the bush but it's minimal.

      @6uiltdifferent  2 роки тому +1

      Haven’t got that bush that you got with the mountune shifter as I got mine second hand but the bushes on the other end seem alright but yeah you’ll always have a little bit but as long as it’s not excessive like these cars always have that’s the main thing should feel quite a difference now mate

    • @Nyle95
      @Nyle95 2 роки тому

      @@6uiltdifferent @ThatFrozenFez Mine was second hand mate, the bush doesn't come with the mountune shifter originally it was something the seller had bought separate. My bush on the gear linkage was fine but thought if I had it I might as well fit it. Definitely feel a difference after the combination of changes. Have you changed the gearbox oil yet? Was surprised how black it was.

      @@Nyle95 ahh right might have to get one myself just for the sake of it haha and yes I’ve changed it twice now when I did the driveshafts and when I did the clutch last year mine was a nice gold colour looked fairly new yours was probably the original oil or it’s had a hard life

    • @Nyle95
      @Nyle95 2 роки тому

      @@6uiltdifferent Might as well, not sure where you'd get one from though. I'd hazard a guess that mine had the original gearbox oil in. It's a 54 plate but only done just over 93k miles, nearly 20k of them are from myself in nearly 2 years. Will change it again maybe after 30-40k.

    If you want a cheaper option, drill a little hole on the side of the old "bushing" and fill it with silicone, that is what I did and it works amazing!

      @@6uiltdifferent The silicone tube costs 4 pounds in my country, doubt that it is much more in the UK while the bush costs 19 pounds + 20 pounds for shipping to my country so I would say that it cost me 10 times less 😅 Of course the bush is a much nicer solution but giving 40 pounds for a bush is just crazy so if someone is saving money or lives in a country where 19 pounds is a lot then silicone is a nice choice 😁
