hi! something completely different.
i was contemplating posting this on the second channel, but i put --too much-- effort into this so it's going here!
also sidenote: i had a chance to type on a newer macbook, and i gotta say: they are both kinda similar (contradicting what i said in the video) the framework's is deeper, which i like better

they also have one already "built" so there's that option!
For those who live in Europe you can get one that already has the WiFi unit preinstalled, and you put in your own memory and SSD. 😊

I'm not a tech person, but man I really enjoyed watching you figuring out how to install the laptop (and struggling a bit for it) . Also, I felt so much peace when you decided to follow the manual ✨ and btw your sidenotes or little notes and personal comments along the video were really funny 💚 like when you showed all the devices in the brown package and you introduced them to us as "...Things" 😂

Dude, this was actually vvv entertaining to watch! How are you enjoying the laptop so far?? Tried to look up any other vids on this, but i guess this is the only one. That or I’m just terrible at searching!
i've been meaning to do an update, but i'll give you the sparknotes ver.
+changed the SSD, very easy taking apart
+ build is solid, no complaints except: - the top bezel is very subtly degraded, likely from me opening and closing it. it's not very visible or anything, just feels textured. doesn't affect much
+the 3:2 aspect ratio display had ruined other laptops for me.
+ keyboard is great! nice travel and feel. but i do miss dedicated home, end, pgup and pgdown keys
+ great support and communication from the team, active community
+ testament to show that repairability ≠ less usable, or attractive. thin and light, with performant specs!
+ processor's been fine. i only record and do very simple video editing, along with other computer tasks. works fine.
+ trackpad's good. no issues
- battery life (on linux) is... O.K., I guess. it's gotten better, but it took some tinkering. not an all day machine, though i usually have access to an outlet. still not great. hope they find some solution, since it's the biggest complaint i have with the laptop.
- the novelty of the expansion cards (the swappable ports) has worn off a bit. i feel like they could've shoved more ports than what's given, and most people would be satisfied. this also helps with battery, as the USB-A and HDMI ports seem to suck up a lot of energy.
- glossy screen is... eh. plan on putting a matte protector on it eventually
- speakers output sound, if you want to call it that.
there's tons of videos on the framework! linus tech tips made a couple videos, elevated systems, and many more :)
@@Lamian Oh, my bad! I meant to say videos by you about this laptop! 😅 anyway, i’ll definitely check out more reviews! But so far, this looks like a solid pick for what I would need my new computer to be! I feel ya for the missing keys tho, and the batt life, and the speakers. 🥲

The only thing it's missing is a backlit keyboard and a black body (dyeing bad, yea we geddit) but aye it looks really cool. I've always wondered how you owned a ThinkPad, like the ancient relic model too, Don't they only give those to software employees ? Didn't know it was commercially sold

Also like in general, I remember those being popular when I was younger, how did you make it work till now ?! It's really cool having physical buttons for small tasks right ? the new one definitely has more of those hands on type features, compared to it's peers. It's indie and one of a kind, way to go ! I feel immense second hand excitement ARGHHH
there is a backlit keyboard! fn+space gives three levels of backlight.
those old thinkpads if you look hard enough can be dirt cheap on second hand markets (in my case, i got it from.... a connection)

mine has the quieter "delta" fan, but the cooling is kinda eh. little toasty

Got it from a "Connection" huh ? interesting
