  • New restrictions on prescribing ivermectin for COVID-19
    www.tga.gov.au/media-release/...
    (10 September 2021)
TGA, acting on the advice of the Advisory Committee for Medicines Scheduling
placed new restrictions on the prescribing of oral ivermectin.
General practitioners are now only able to prescribe ivermectin for TGA-approved conditions - scabies and certain parasitic infections
Certain specialists will be permitted to prescribe ivermectin for other unapproved indications if they believe it is appropriate for a particular patient
Ivermectin is not approved for use in COVID-19 in Australia
currently strongly discouraged by the National COVID Clinical Evidence Taskforce, the World Health Organisation and the US Food and Drug Administration
    www.covid19treatmentguideline...
    Recommendation
There is insufficient evidence for the COVID-19 Treatment Guidelines Panel (the Panel) to recommend either for or against the use of ivermectin for the treatment of COVID-19.
    Firstly
there are a number of significant public health risks associated with taking ivermectin in an attempt to prevent COVID-19 infection rather than getting vaccinated
Individuals who believe that they are protected from infection by taking ivermectin may choose not to get tested or to seek medical care if they experience symptoms.
Doing so has the potential to spread the risk of COVID-19 infection throughout the community.
    Secondly
the doses of ivermectin that are being advocated for use in unreliable social media posts and other sources for COVID-19 are significantly higher than those approved and found safe for scabies or parasite treatment.
These higher doses can be associated with serious adverse effects, including severe nausea, vomiting, dizziness, neurological effects such as dizziness, seizures and coma.

    BMJ
    bestpractice.bmj.com/topics/e...
Untreated paracetamol poisoning may cause varying degrees of liver injury over the 2 to 4 days following ingestion, including fulminant hepatic failure.
    Finally
there has been a 3-4-fold increased dispensing of ivermectin prescriptions in recent months, leading to national and local shortages for those who need the medicine for scabies and parasite infections
It is believed that this is due to recent prescribing and dispensing for unapproved uses, such as COVID-19.
Such shortages can disproportionately impact vulnerable people, including those in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
There is only one TGA approved oral ivermectin product, Stromectol ivermectin 3mg tablet blister pack
Indicated for the treatment of river blindness (onchocerciasis), threadworm of the intestines (intestinal strongyloidiasis) and scabies.
All medical practitioners can continue to prescribe oral ivermectin for the approved indications.
However, prescribing of oral ivermectin for indications that are not approved is now limited to certain specialists.
    Onchocerciasis
    www.who.int/news-room/fact-sh...
More than 99% of infected people live in 31 African countries. The disease also exists in some foci in Latin America and Yemen.

The effectiveness of COVID vaccines are more or less strain dependent. That's why Israel had to mandate 3rd and even 4th booster shots when it relies on COVID vaccine blindly to deal with the COVID pandemic.

On the other hand, the effectiveness of Ivermectin for COVID is NOT strain dependent. That means it works on the original COVID-19 strain as well as the Delta variant strain. That's why Delhi, India was able to fight back the Delta variant after it has approved Ivermectin officially for the treatment and prophylaxis of COVID.

Yep, that's what I figure. Pretty lame excuses to keep people from an easy, effective preventative or early treatment that's had a great track record. The only logical reason for restricting that drug is to push these "vaccines" on the population. They care not about people's health and safety, just take the jab. The reason I think the Government is anti - ivermectin is that the corrupt big pharma are set to make a massive fortune with new expensive treatments they are bringing onto the market. As an Australian, I find this extremely alarming. You'd think making an attack on the pandemic from both a prevention and a treatment model would be desirable. Rather than fund a study to determine if it can be useful and making an order for more, they sever that arm off entirely. It's completely counterintuitive.

There have been several studies to see it’s effectiveness. The only study that has shown ANY effectiveness was proven to be a fake and another that was plagiarized from another study so it’s sound legit. It has zero effectiveness towards covid -proven by multiple studies in multiple countries. Another major problem with people taking it is IF IT DID HAVE AN EFFECT it’d have to be taken during the first week of the disease and people taking it on their own aren’t taking it until after the first week when their severe acute respiratory syndrome is worsening. All it’s doing is making people sicker and much more likely to die.

      Fear?
Not a good enough explanation. There's heaps they could do and still avoid it coming back to bite them. Anonymously etc.
I feel we must lump the medical establishment in with those who are perpetrating this attack on the population. We must. They could help but they don't. I see not the slightest whisper of a suggestion of a tiny bit of help. Anywhere.

Three comments here: 1) as a European migrant, now dinky dye Aussie, I have always found the Australian officials treating the public as if we are all idiots or little children. Micro management is very popular amongst our officials, particularly when they don’t know what to do, as it is seen to be doing something. Having worked in health I remember that evidence base was always touted as religion. This nonsense was concocted by a group of medically trained people, or so they claim. Reason 1 and 2 are speculative, based on hearsay, not evidence! Reason 3 is rubbish, again not evidence. Basically, they don’t trust their own fully trained Doctors. 2) All this reminds me of the ever raging debate about Lyme disease. So called experts disputing that chronic Lyme exists, that a 2 week course of a bit of doxycycline is sufficient and if you’re still sick, it’s post Lyme disease, all in your head, or, my favourite, placebo. Research and evidence to the contrary was and is, suppressed. Doctors were disbarred, had to front medical boards for investigation, were threatened to have their licenses withdrawn. 3) there is, I believe, an ever widening abyss between government officials, frontline health workers and the public happening in Australia. This cannot help in the fight against Covid.

This Australian spiel is a big pharma P.R. firm hand out. I have heard it in France and the UK almost word for word the same. There is nothing 'wierd' about it is totally logical. It is however sinister.
The medico-political-media lobby behind the vaccines only policy know that you can fool all of the people some of the time etc. etc. They work on the principle that you can fool enough of the people long enough to achieve what they want. If the lawyers catch up with them, well its years down the line and put the fines down to expenses. Have a look at the opioid crisis in the US which is now finishing in court with fines all round including I understand for McKinsey currently advising the British and French government on how to get the plebs to accept vaccines.
Big pharma are fighting a war not a battle to block the use of generics - out of patent cheap medines. Each year obviously there are more and more of them. I. and H. are just battles in the war. I. has been described as the new penicilin and could have multiple uses. At the same time it is known to be very safe. Therefore it is particularly dangerous to pharma profits and its use has to be sabotaged by any means. This Australian memo is just one example.

Thank you for calling out the Australian Government Department of Health TGA for its laughable stance and calls them "weird". Essentially, the Australian Government is saying they have no confidence in any of their MDs to treat and prescribe to patients properly as they see fit. They also cite drug shortages that may be needed for parasitic diseases that don't even exist in Australia! The narrative in their directives would be funny if it wasn't so serious, but it's hard not to laugh at this.
The Australian Government has lost the plot and they are clearly in an ever-accelerating flat spin. Incompetent is a word I'd use and reflects a total lack of credible leadership. This is so insulting to all doctors practicing in Australia and the Government is becoming a worldwide laughing stock as it stumbles around attempting to pretend they know what they're doing. It's clear from these official TGA directives that they have no idea! Surely it's not an attempt at comedy?!
Hello Australian Government. There is NO worldwide shortage of this drug! India and other countries have an enormous capacity to produce any amount of this proven drug, so please demonstrate a semblance of competence, get off your arses, and put in your friggin order for as much as is needed. Call ME if you like and I'll get back to you with a price, but I'll need the cheque to clear first before placing the order! And please don't be so condescending in your treatment of our medical professionals. MDs are not the idiots here, but tying their hands behind their backs in this manner only proves exactly where the idiocy lies.

People make decisions about their health based on what he says in videos like this, and to think he has published multiple utterly terrible arguments that are easily refuted is extremely irresponsible and harmful to public health.
1.) It's absolutely appropriate to assert that prophylactic usage of ivermectin could increase vaccine hesitancy if people taking ivermectin believe it's protective and has a lower risk of serious side-effects.

They really must first address the studies, scrutinise and then conclude. Following that, those findings need to be made public. Then your points have context.

2.) No, it obviously doesn't apply to all medication. Ivermectin is unique in the volume of misinformation that exists online pertaining to its usage - the vast majority of drugs, while generally unsafe if ingested in large quantities, don't have a massive volume of misinformation online that may tempt people to unknowingly overdose.
3.) As I said, price isn't the issue - demand and supply is. Right now, the demand for ivermectin outweighs the supply in many countries, and it would be illogical for the Government to attempt to import more of it when its efficacy hasn't even been empirically demonstrated.

@@michaelfabish-wood218 Steady on there fella, we are ALL just trying to make sense of what's going on, and I'm just looking for clues, same as most other folk.
If what you say is correct then it is great that this pandemic is working out fine for a country like NZ.
Unfortunately, it's too late for that where I live. From what you're telling me more folk have died in my little town, than in the whole of NZ.
We DID isolate in our homes, we did wear the useless masks, and most have taken the vaccines. However, some people are reacting badly to those vaccines, so many folk are viewing the alternatives, and that's fair, no?
Once you do that you find that there has been repression around, and against, the use of alternatives, like ivermectin. But why should this be? Especially when we know it's affective, and it's effects have been studied for 40 years?
So sure, take an unstudied, brand new type of DNA vaccine if you want to, but don't be so naive as to think there might not be genetical consequences for us ALL in the future.
This pandemic spread SO rapidly mainly because of is overweights and the inebriates. 78% of hospital admissions for the covid were obese, and globally one in three people take alcohol which radically compromises the immune system.
And here's another fact for ya little fella, you stand TWICE the chance of dying from alcohol and tobacco than you do from the WuWHOFlue.
Only 4.5 million died from the WuWHOs in over 18 months, and for this we close down the whole world. But when another 8.5 million die (EVERY year) from ciggies and booze, we call it good business - WHAT?
Still, with you being a man so keen to avoid death from covid, I'm sure YOU wouldn't put yourself at TWICE the risk through taking such slow-motion, suicidal poisons, like ciggies and booze, would you little fella?
I know that your are way too GROWN-UP for that, RIGHT? LOL

It’s corruption on a massive scale, and as someone who’s seen several Specialists over this past year, to diagnose what my underlying health issues are; I should be allowed to make an informed decision on treatments relative to my risk profile. The Govt is now excluding non vaccinated people from attending venues, weddings, concerts etc. basically removing any right I had to make an informed decision, or allowing me time to have my diagnosis and feel more positive about the vaccine adverse side effects. When you can no longer trust the people we elected, or the medical professionals we place such faith in, what are we reduced to? This is by far the dumbest video John's published that I've seen... very disappointing from someone I observed to have solid critical thinking skills in the early stages of the pandemic.
1.) It's absolutely appropriate to assert that prophylactic usage of ivermectin could increase vaccine hesitancy if people taking ivermectin believe it's protective and has a lower risk of serious side-effects.
2.) Just because doctors may prescribe an appropriate dose of ivermectin doesn't mean the people taking it will use it in accordance with the guidelines. Paracetamol does not at all serve as a good analogue - there is no such comparably massive volume of misinformation pertaining to its usage online.
3.) The Australian Government isn't going to act to import ivermectin en masse simply because of an uptick in demand from people taking it for stupid reasons, and additionally, if other countries also have increased demand, which they do, there will be shortages regardless of any effort to import more of it.
Don't take the stupidest interpretation of what you read and adopt it as your opinion, because you will continue to make stupid videos like this if you do. Perhaps the significant number of foolish ivermectin advocates in your audience, who I don't really blame you for - it seems all health UA-camrs attract them to some degree, are incentivising you to take a more uncritical view of the subject matter pertaining to it, in which case that is unfortunate.
