    This worked for me. Been trying many rewirers (is that a word?) but could not get ProTools into OBS. Thanks! I had to use the Sonobus ProTools plugin though.

    That's awesome! I'll surely try that. Up until now I always transfer the audio from the DAW to OBS with reastream, but I don't particularly like its audio quality and the fact that you can't easily seperate the vocal recording from the rest

      Yeah, I think this is the best sounding, most robust way to do this. Especially since it also grabs Windows audio so your video also captures UA-cam or Audacity or Spotify or whatever else you have running that you can hear through your speakers :)

    Unfortunately I can't get this to work. I followed you step by step but it says "other side is muted" on the OBS plugin. I tried to get reastream to work but couldn't get it to work, now im trying sonobus and still no luck. I think I must be doing something wrong. My interface is plugged in, I'm getting your audio loud and clear, and getting sound from my daw, but OBS just won't take sound. Please help a brotha out!

      Did you check if it was muted on the other side? Are you running the desktop application or the plugin in your DAW?

      I have the same issue. Sonobus works fine but when we launch it via vst, other side is muted. Remove from obs, everything is fine. Hang on, are you routing a desktop sonobus into a vst sonobus in obs?

    I'm not tech minded at all, but I'm pretty sure that OBS could be made to be a lot easier to use.
    Jesus Christ you have a lot of plugins 😁

      YES! There is an ASIO plugin for OBS but its a bit wonky so they dont incorporate it into the main version. There is also a new "Application Audio Source" source that is in beta which works (I think that will be their main tool soon).
      And YES I have way, way too many plugins!

    Hey, thanks for the video. Your system audio direcly sends through sonobus. This doesn't happen to me, I can just use my Mic as an input to send audio to others, no system playback. Any tips?

      If youre talking about the standalone version of Sonobus, you likely have to configure the audio settings (the gear icon at the top-left of the GUI). What do you have set for Audio Device Type, Device, Active Input/Output Channels?
      What hardware do you have? Does it have a loopback? Are you able to edit its master outputs with its own settings GUI?
      There are so many factors

    Great video man! Do you have an idea how you would be able to have the OBS mic with it's filters as well as the DAW/desktop audio via SonoBus sent to video conferencing programs?

    • @jasonzdora
      @jasonzdora  Рік тому

      yes! Have you used the "start virtual camera" feature on OBS yet? Thats the way.
      as far as your mic, I would run that through the DAW. You can use "filters" (plugins) inside the DAW on your voice as well.
      Then for desktop audio, you can do one of two things. You can run the Sonobus Standalone on your desktop OR you can set up the "Global Audio Devices > Desktop Audio > Default" on OBS Audio settings to catch all your desktop audio besides your DAW. Your DAW is controlled by ASIO drivers so it wont be picked up by "desktop audio", usually. Every rig is unique tho so it depends. Experimentation is key.
      I have another video called "How to use your DAW and OBS with Skype Zoom OBSninja" which has some other clues on how to set this kind of thing up.

    might have a look at this, would you need 2 instances in OBS to run 1 audio from your DAW and 1 from windows to separate the 2 on to different channels say for amp sim demos

    • @jasonzdora
      @jasonzdora  Рік тому

      Yep! You could separate the channels with 2 different connections. That might be the most logical reason to use 2 instances of "groups" going to two separate Media Sources in OBS and then separate those two channels inside the OBS Advanced Audio Settings menu. Thats a great tip and might be worth reshooting this video to show that workflow!
      Ive never had the need to go back and edit my audio in post. My videos are all screen recordings. What I hear in my headphones is what I want in the video (no mixing required).

      Just gave it a 2nd thought and actually, if you wanted to separate your ASIO audio (your DAW) and the other Windows audio, you could just use the plugin version of SonoBus in your DAW and in a Media Source on OBS. Then for all Windows Audio, just add a Source in OBS for Audio Output Capture and select your default Windows output.
      Then you would go into OBS Advanced Audio Settings and specify a unique audio track for each audio source (using a recording format that allows for multitrack audio, of course).

      Might have to look at this? Dude! Definitely check this out, seems like a great way to get OBS going well and having proper routing everywhere you need. Great minds think alike I guess!
      Cheers man!
