Live Stream your DAW through OBS! How-to guide
Вставка
- Опубліковано 14 кві 2020
- In today's live tutorial, we're going to be looking at a cool way to get your DAW sound out to a live stream - that doesn't require any cables, and can get around a large number of issues that you may be having.
We're using the ReaPlugs from Cockos (the people who make Reaper) and specifically the ReaStream plugin. It's free, and can be found here:- reaper.fm/reaplugs/
We're then connecting that to OBS, the site for which is here:-

For those not getting "reaplug-standalone" to appear in the VST 2.0 menu in OBS please make sure that the dll is installed in any of the following folders:
C:/Program Files/Steinberg/VstPlugins/
C:/Program Files/Common Files/Steinberg/Shared Components/
C:/Program Files/Common Files/VST2
C:/Program Files/Common Files/VSTPlugins/
C:/Program Files/VSTPlugins/
Reaplugs was being installed to my Cakewalk VST Plug ins which is NOT searched by OBS. Other DAWS may install to a different folder but all you need to do is copy the reaplug-standalone dll to one of the folders I listed above. Hope this helps some!
Brilliant, pinning this!
I can get ReaStream in OBS and in Audacity separately but can't get them to talk to each other *at all*. A whole week this has been doin my head in.
@@singingplanet I had a similar problem with my DAW (Cakewalk) and OBS - aside from what I've already stated I also had my sends/receives set wrong - both my DAW and OBS were set to send so nothing worked - once I sent from DAW and received from OBS I was ok - not sure if this helps as I'm not exactly sure the full nature of your problem
@Corey KippsCan feel your pain - had to really fiddle to get stuff to work. My only suggestions are to try all paths I mentioned making sure the reaplug dll is only in one of the folders (it shouldn't matter tbh but......) - making sure Program Files is on C directory and not on a different one (sorry not wanting to patronise) - rescanning VST folders in Cakewalk/Bandlab - not sure what version of Cakewalk you are using but I'm using the Bandlab version (although I do have Sonar installed but not linked with reaplugs) - hoping it's not some other extraneous conflict which sucks to track down - hoping you can sort it :-)
I've spent too much time on this, instead of just going straight to the comment section of the video. Thank you so much!
I'm actually excited enough to write a comment for the first time in years. This solution is so elegant compared to the others I've found out there through the years. The plugin seems to be good quality, it's very adaptable, flexible and very light. Thanks a million. Goodbye to hating my life fiddling with voicemeeter and direct sound. Can't commend this method enough.
You video saved me. I spent days trying to figure out how to stream voice + piano, nothing worked, was ready to give up. And it amazes me how simple this plugin is, no difficult setting at all
Thank you very much for sharing this great information! I've been trying to get my live stream audio sounding great. I can't wait to try this method!
I've litterally been at this for 4 hours. it currently 1am pac, this is the only video that helped! THANK YOU!!! i tried everything, voice meeter, odeus, everything
You're a heaven-sent life saver, man!
I've been figuring out how to connect may DAW (Adobe Audition CC 2018) output with vocal effects to my OBS for live streaming. Through your tutorial, I'm now able to successfully do it with Restream!
Great stuff, man! You rock! Thank you and God bless!
Thank you for this! I just switched over to StreamLabs OBS and it wouldn't take the old ReaRoute hardware output workaround, so this is a great way for me to stream my music stuff! Much appreciated
Thank you so much! I have been pulling my hair out for over a year trying to figure this out. Super simple thank you!
Thank you!
My last setup was using a mini tele (aux) from a splitter in my soundcard back into my computer. adding latency, noise and a bit lag.
This is amazing. Thank you.
Brilliant! Exactly what I was looking for: I'm doing a training video on getting started recording in Reaper. Thank you!
I loved the way you explain everything, so easy and simple, "keep it simple" you said, and so you did it with your explanation!! Thank you very very much, it was just the kind of info I was looking for!!! sorry about my english, it's been quite a lot since the last time I practiced!! Best wishes!
You’re a life saver!! Been looking everywhere for a way to do this and this is easily the most efficient. Much appreciated!
This is genius!!! You have no idea how much this will simplify this process!!! Thank you for sharing!
Youre a god amongst men. I recently made the switch from Mac to PC and I've tried everything else, but this is incredible
This helped me SSOOOOOO much! Thank you for this.
Dude, you are the greatest! hoping to get this setup to do some live loop live streams through reaper and my 8 channel interface. Tonight's the test!
This was a really helpful tutorial, thanks a lot man.
All I saw was the like ratio and the title and that's all I needed to see. You're a lifesaver my guy!
Dude!!!! I've been battling this damn VST for hours now following different guides THANKS TO U I GOT IT TO WORK! (I changed the Inside cubase VST name.... what an idiot.)
Thanks for sharing! Super helpful
Excellent tutorial! Thanks
Awesome man! been dying to get my gear working and voicemeeter was crackling hard core. Sounds great! Very cool. I am pumped to make some live Jams. Thank you.
Incredible Tutorial! So helpful. Thank you!
Thanks, I can stream performances now!!
Thank you so much for this video. Ever since the OBS 27 update, I have been having constant issues with the OBS ASIO plugin. My routing isn't that complicated, but I route ASIO audio of Rocksmith 2014 into my DAW, and its incredibly touchy with that plugin. So I have been stuck using OBS 26 until now. Lifesaver!
Got it workin first try, excellent tutorial. Thanks man! That direct IP broadcast sounds super interesting
It's a great video and can you explain for this same setup, how can I send these video and audio from OBS to ZOOM in a proper way?
I've spent days , week's , month's , countless hours trying to figure this shit out and it's this fuckin simple , jesus i cannot thank you enough for this it's been driving me crazy !
Thank you, after watching like 7 different tutorials, this has been the only one that actually makes any sense.
Amazing, thank you so much. You explain things so carefully and well. Great stuff
This channel is so underrated. I'm currently learning a lot from you. Thanks so much!
This really helped with the lag issue I had, thank you!
Exactly what I was looking for! I'm going to be using this as a Stream Deck by controlling different sounds in individual tracks in a Studio One song through my X-Touch for quick one touch firing. By selecting "solo" I can choose the sound/track and hit play. Then just hit rewind..and it's set for the next one. Thus, turning my x-touch into a stream deck. Thank you. I'm also thinking there may be a way to rout midi the same way, but I'll figure that out later. Again, thank you for this video.
Brilliant tutorial video, thanks for making it. Never would have figured that out myself!
Wow thank you so much.. I've been trying to set up streaming for years and this is clearly the easiest way. big Ups!
Thanks for the tutorial, works for me!
Brilliant and easily understood. Thanks a million!
Man, this is really great. Thank you so much for sharing your findings !
dude! thank you! I've been trying to figure out how to get this working for days now. All I could get OBS to record was the raw input from my guitar now I can actually record with my FX loop. I cannot thank you enough.
Thank you so much for this mate. I can't believe how well this works!
Thanks so much for your help, dude!
yoooooooooooooo ive been trying to figure out how to do this for about a year now thank you so much!!!!!! this was soooo helpful along with interesting and cool to watch! :D
Totally needed this for a school assignment and it did exactly what I hoped. Thanks for walking through it!
Awesome!
Thx! Quick and clear tutorial!
Thank you so much...I had voice meter banana in the past briefly but had some weird latency and other hiccup and glitches...I cannot stress enough how much time and headaches you have saved me...i also had another solution patching cables from my focusrite back in the onboard audio card....I believe it doesn't need to be mentioned that it was less than ideal...
Really helpful video - thanks!
I really appreciate your tutorials! This one here I needed to see! Thank you!
Just now gettin into OBS, and I love you sir. You took away all my stress.
That was quick! Thanks a lot!
I will try it later.
really cool and simple method after your video...thanks bro
Hi Glenn. Thanks for this great tutorial. I am wondering if you can tell me how to stream a live show using my DAW and not just live stream a pre-recorded session using DAW? I tried playing live music into my DAW and stream that at the same time but no audio signal was captured.
Thank you. This has been very helpful! Big thumbs up!
a huuuge cloud of confusion between the input and output capture has been cleared thanks to you! youre amazing! :)
I've been trying to figure this out for over 2 years-- thank you SO much
Thank you so much for this ! Great tutorial. You are THE Reaper GURU!
thank you so much!
OMG thank you! Been trying to figure this out for like an hour and watched like 3 other videos on this topic and this is the only one that's actually worked! Thanks a ton!
Brilliant, thank you.
This is awesome. So do you also need to install Voicemeter too? I got a little confused when you mentioned "donor device" within the device properties section.
Super helpful, thank you sir!
Awesome Tut... I set this up and it works great but I'm having one issue - when sending audio the master slider in reaper is not controlling the stream being sent by the plugin - how to fix that?
This is AMAZING. I really want to try this out. Thank you for such a helpful video :)
Thats what i needed ! Thank you!
This is game changing, thank you.
This is Amazing Thank you so much!!
Hey man, your video really helped me configure this. Thx a lot, THIS WAS THE BEST VIDEO EVER.
This was longer than I needed but I am of course very grateful for your help.
excellent video. thank you
Thanks again ad 🙏👍
Perfect timing!
thanks for this video.
thanks man this is the best tutorial for this issue
You absolute legend, I've spent days trying to get Voicemeeter/reaper to work with my Focusrite Scarlet to no avail. This is wicked (Y)
This dude just saved my life. Thanks so much for this video
thank you so much for this. I set it up earlier today based on other youtube tutorials. Not streaming (yet) but doing recording instead. The video and audio are out of sync and I'm having difficulty getting this resolved. I'm using Reaper and Windows, everything seems to be set up simple and just like you have shown. Any helpful ideas for tblshooting?
thanks man this will make my amp sim demos a lot easier
Thanks, youre the best 😊 Got it immediately working.
Appreciated!!!! It works very well! Thank you for sharing
finally, found this bro @hop! very intuitive and informative
HI IM FROM ITALY AND YOU ARE A GENIUS. YOU LITERALLY SAVE MY LIFE AND MONEY (i was thinking to buy a eudient evo just to stream the ableton's audio). thank you very much
Hi, could you do it on Ableton Live?, my Ableton can´t find the plugins, please confirm. Thanks
Very helpful video, thank you so much it save me a lot of time and coffee :)
great video thanks so much🔥
This is really helpful, thank you. Now when I record in OBS, I'm getting really good sound from Reaper, both from the backing track and my live guitar track. However, when I stream this to Zoom using VB-CABLE, only the midi tracks (the backing track I'm playing over) from Reaper sound good. The live guitar sounds really off, like it's not keeping up or something. Any tips for that?
Thanks so much! I'll have to stop using Bandicam for screen recording and try OBS instead. Had so much trouble getting good quality audio from Cubase into Bandicam because my audio interface doesn't like looping back to the on-board soundcard without a TON of ground loop hum/buzz. Spot on explanation. 👍👌
After making this comment, I tried it and found out that my audio interface is too old to support this trick. MOTU 24io simply doesn't like Windows 10 when it comes to driver compatibility. Guess I'm stuck for the time being using the old analog method. Thanks anyway. I'll know what to do in future when I get a new interface that supports Windows 10 audio. :)
Great video, I learned a lot of useful stuff !
Hey, thanks a lot great job.
Have things changed now 3 years later? I have done videos before and recently I installed the new versions of Reaper and OBS. I’m having trouble getting audio to OBS? Thanks!
Thanks a lot, thats what i needed, you're awesome
I have spent tooooooooooooooooooo loooooooooooooooooooooong trying to find the fix and THIS VIDEO WAS IT!!!! Thank you so much Adam!!!!
I had no idea there was a Reaper plugin that could do this! I've been using Voxengo Recorder which works great (and is free too) but it's nice to know there's more than one way to skin this cat.
i use it too. For some strange reason reastream sometimes doesn't work. it's really really frustrating. on the other hand, voxengo works every time all the time and it's so simple to use. just assign it to any device you are not using and add that device in reaper. voila!
Finally. Thank you!
You sir, have earned a cookie. You saved me from a massive headache, thank you so much!
Thanks a lot!
Thanks a lot, man. Worked like a charm for me.
Great Adam. Can I ask a question?Do you need to reinstall first reaper before using Reastrem? I saw another video doing it and did some tweaking during installation. Thanks in advance
worked out great!
Thank you so much! Super clear. Greetings from Colombia
thank you!!
You are da man! Thanks, bro!
Thanks Adam...I just tried this, and it works so much better than using desktop capture with Direst Sound...
Fantastic!
