    We're working on the 1956 Chevy project car. We need to bleed our new brake system that we rebuilt. Once we put brake fluid in the system we will find out if all of our hard work paid off. I'm sure we will have to deal with some leaks, but hopefully not too many. We need to get this done so we can move on to our new wheels & then the engine & transmission installation.

    It's nice to see I'm not the only one who has leaks when making brake lines! Or did you do that just to make me feel better? Thank you! You're awesome! Great video, as always!

      That's funny. It was a collection of errors on my part. I knew there would be leaks but I was not expecting that.
      Thanks for hanging out as always!

    Every time you mention your lone wolf status it reminds me of my late father's philosophy on having kids. "What's the point of having children if you don't put them to work"? Congratulations on a big step.

      That's hilarious. Thank you. It feels good to have this part done.

    Just a suggestion: If travel to the parts store costs you a lot of time and some distance, if you have a piece of copper tubing the correct size, it could be double flared then cut off slightly longer than the tube nut and if you are good at soldering, you could seal the end and you have a home made plug. Key is to be able to solder, have proper heat and above all, must be clean and use flux. It should pass inspection if needed in your state. I know that in most states it is legal to use copper lines but they turn green with age and look unsightly.

      That a good suggestion. I appreciate that. I will keep that in my mental toolbox for possible future use.

    I have a 1964 Pontiac Bonneville and it was the then legal single/mono brake system. I made it tandem but not the single pipe way you did. Very good idea with less fittings. I have several 3 & 4 way brass junctions as I try to not use plugs but ya gotta do with what you have! I also just made a 1957 GMC tandem but that took an all new total system rebuild. Anyone with this single system on any car needs to get tandem system today. The new tandem GMC has the shuttle switch that tell me if one side or the other has failed with a warning lamp and in the short time I've had it the warning lamp has saved me twice. One was a leaking fitting at the axle and the other was a rear bonded brake lining came off. Anytime I see anyone making the tandem conversion I comment as this is too important. Nice work Sir. Thank you for taking the time to type all that out Bobby. It's helpful information for anyone who might happen to read it. Your comment will be on this video for years to come.
      I appreciate you hanging around.

      @@freemansgarage I like the way you work and keep at it. You make the most of what you have and take the time to do it right. A great example. Sometimes safe brakes come before new M/T valve covers and some new guys need to know that.

    If you wear those pants outside a store you might get some money. Are you going to drive those vehicles to your new place or have them hauled out?

      I've always wanted to try my hand at panhandling.
      I'm not sure how moving the vehicles is going to work out yet. I've been looking at 40' gooseneck trailers. I could knock it out in two trips. We will see.

    Is your goal to finish the Chevy and the Rambler at the same time?

    • @freemansgarage
      @freemansgarage  21 день тому

      Sort of. I've been alternating Chevy & Rambler videos because it seems some folks like one car more than the other. The Rambler is basically done though.

    I'm thinking you might make a good sprinkler fitter😂. I would not to entertain a group of people while working on a vehicle.

      I know what you mean. I'm putting myself out there for your entertainment.

    Okay… Can someone explain to me why not just use a connector to attach the two lines together? I mean it would be a lot easier than re-flairing the line with a different fitting, just so you can use the block and add a plug that is yet another possible leak point.

    • @freemansgarage
      @freemansgarage  19 днів тому

      That's a good question. Three lines go into that block. It's most likely an original 1956 part so I wanted to use. Also, it would have taken who knows how long to source a different block with the right size threads. I was able to just re-flare the line for free at the garage in a few minutes.
