You guys are funny as! Get in there, have a good time, who cares if stuff breaks or blows up....its entertaining! 👍🍺🤣
Glad you enjoyed it! It’s all for fun and memories in the end!
Freeze plugs, when you take the old ones out, clean around the inside of the hole with a wire brush on a drill or sandpaper as best you can. Put a little bit of RTV around the new plug and tap it in -I use a socket that barely fits inside the plug and a short extension. Once you tap it in flush it should seat itself and not leak at all. The RTV helps with the uneven surface on old engines.. if you get brass freeze plugs, you will never have to replace them again. Getting better guys keep after it. Don’t be afraid to ask questions sometimes.
Good luck from Arizona.
Edsel Ford was NOT corrupt. He was kind hearted and tried to treat people fairly. Old Henry felt he was too soft and tried to toughen him up and only succeeded in sending him to an early grave. Edsel was also a great thinker and an incredible auto designer. The Model A, 32, V-8, Lincoln Continental, and other great designs were his work. The BIG engine in the 58-59 Edsel was the 430 and in the dual quad configuration in 58 only, it put out 400 HP. The Edsel could also be had with a 410 for a performance motor. All Edsels had the 9" rearend.
I restored a '59 Edsel Ranger in the late 1980's that had sat in a hay field behind our house for a few years after my Uncle bought it at auction and had no place to keep it. It really didn't need a whole lot as it had been undercoated when it was new and was pretty much rust free. I rebuilt all the brakes and lines, put in new wiring under the hood and a new float bowl in the carburetor and she ran like a top! She had been parked with only 70k miles and the car was built in Louisville (35 miles away) and owned locally all it's life in the original owner's garage. He had passed away years before and his wife just left the car in the garage as she couldn't drive. The seats had been covered when it was new and the original seats still looked awesome. It was a two-tone blue & white and had the little 312 under the hood. My Pappy kept trying to get me to paste fake fur around the horse collar on the grill and replace the Edsel name badges with ones that said Ethel, lol. I wish I still had it. I'm 6'8" and it was the absolute roomiest car I have ever owned, and I've owned a few land yachts in my time.
Nice! Good story, wish you still had it!
@@DailyDrivenDeathTraps a buddy of yours?... that's why prices are going up...by the way...I love Edsels...if I win the lottery...58 Citation fully loaded... calling her Unforgiven.... after the Metallica song....
And I'm a black man
honestly this is the first edsel iv seen revived i actually like the look its so ugly that its beautiful would love to see more of these once hated cars get some second chances
Funny I was just watching that thing rolling down the road at sunset and was thinking the same thing.
Every classic deserves a second chance 🤘🏼🤘🏼
😎
I love my 59 Corsair. Rescued it from the trees. Even though it's still sitting on the trailer 2 years later, I still have plans for it and won't get rid of it either.
Get er goin!!!
@DailyDrivenDeathTraps currently I am "preserving value", as one nice young lady told me. But I also have 6 other vehicles/projects that I am "preserving value", so the Edsel waits patiently.
Edsel Ford died around 1943.
He was also a very good person, and responsible for all the beautiful 30's Fords, Mercurys and Lincolns.
I would put a 390 and 4 spd in it , a straight axle and a 9 inch with high arch springs in the rear . Make sure it sits level . 12 inch wide cragars out back 7 inch up front ! Coolest Edsel ever . I would take it in a heart beat !
So you buy a classy expensive Edsel and order it with an inline 6. That cracks me up.
Hahaha we wish we got the v8
Because some people want a nice gas saver don't care about going fast😎👍 not everything has to be a big fast v8
but wait theirs more . remember it has the 3 on the tree
well its between a merc and ford and iir The mercs had an inline 6 and manual as standard. only the Lincolns for sure came standard with a v8 automatic and I believe AC
Never dreamed Edsels came with a 6 !!! Was expecting a 430 V8...
I want to see the Edsel again. I know it’s not valuable, but that could be a positive. It just looks super cool. Grab a small block and a 4/5 speed and you’ve got something you won’t hate putting through its paces
Love the Edsel! The fact that it's a sedan and not a hardtop is even better. Reminds me of my 59 Edsel, only V8 automatic.
Nice place to work on an old car! Plenty of shade, nicely trimmed turf and a scenic view. Life is good!
Saw the notification and could not wait to get home a watch. Don't care what you boys are up to, I'm game for the ride, the mayhem, the chaos, the witty banter, an the potential explosions an or fireballs. Keep the videos coming
Thank you!!
I agree with you 💯
Edsel YES!!!
Can't wait to see what you guys come up with next , love the show 👍🇦🇺
Thank you!!!
Great job. I have a 1959 edsel corsair I am going to repair and drive
finest car video ive seen. You guys are great. more more more
Thank you!!
Rusted/leakinng old Freeze plugs. Wire brush and brake clean........ AND J/B Weld the Whole plug area FLush to the block. Done it on a 351M 21 years ago and Its still running and never leaked again. 🤣 Love the channel.
Nice!! Thank you!
The Edsel has quite a cult following. A prime 1958 Corsair with a 410 V-8 can bring big $.
Love every video you put out, and am always amazed at the junk you revive and get home!! Keep on keepin on!! That’s a T-shirt if I’ve ever seen one
Thank you! Will do!
Listen, never, ever,,, ever ever diss th Edsel! It was far far ahead of its time and people couldn't handle it! That's it!
Back in the old days, people would make fun of it saying " it looks like it's sucking a lemon". Super cool car and a desirable collectible nowadays. Advanced suspensions, advanced ergonomics power brakes, and lots of other advancements on the top of the line models.
I had the twin to this 59 Ranger when I was 18, there's not many around, please don't crush it. Thanks guys
all 59 Edsel sedans used a Ford body, their wheelbase was 120-inch there was only 2 models in 59 The RANGER and the higher trim CORSAIR
Thanks for saving the old Edsel. At least it provided some entertaining content.
I enjoy the old car revival videos. A couple of them are”Junkyard Digs” and the crazy Canadians like
“Cold War Motors”. As has been said before by Steve Magnante old cars can tell a story and provide a history lesson. That old car is 65 years old and you guys got going down the road again, I doubt very much that when the current model cars get that old nobody will be able to get them going again.
Keep making videos and I would like to see the Edsel again.
Super Well Done Dudes. Dont Ever Knock The 6 Banger Guys. Like The good old V8. They will almost always start with some love....
We like the 6's, just want to switch it up here and there at least haha. We've been getting a lot of 6's recently.
I've been wanting to buy a classic someday, and an Edsel is actually on my list of possibilities to buy. Can't work on the new cars today, so an Edsel isn't so bad.
TBH I don't see anything which would scare me rust-wise, it's all doable with basic metal-working tools and a MIG welder. The six is a disappointment but what the heck, there are enough V8s which could go in there if you're so inclined (I'd be tempted by fitting a later 300 six with a 5sp box behind it, but I'm weird). Disc brake conversion at the front, a reconditioned suspension and you have a car to go places in - and it is a 2 door after all. This car deserves to live and get the TLH it needs.
Yeah, we're not super passionate about this one. Someone else who loves Edsel can come scoop it up at some point and put some live into it. She's sold to restore at least.
@@DailyDrivenDeathTraps well if I were anywhere near you (I'm not, I'm in Europe...) and did not already have one Ford I'd have been interested lol. Hope someone comes and gives it a good home.
I prepped and painted two Edsels back in the 90s, in exchange for a 57 Chrysler New Yorker.
Looked like you guys are having fun. I like the Edsel, if you decide you can't keep it look me up.
Deal!
Pretty easy to see what was on the designers mind with that grill.
That is the best running EDSEL I have ever seen. This is not the cream of the crop . Glad y'all are having fun.
She pulls good after sitting for so long, we were surprised.
Save the old fuel pump. You can get kits to rebuild them.
The pit falls that ya'll struggled with make me feel better about how my projects go. 😮
If it ain't working this way as intended, then go the other way 'til it works well enough.
😂
It is a saver. There are plenty of parts to be had.
Keep it and put a 302 in it... sweet old ride
35:38 hahahahhaha I’m dead. They paid for the glass, and the sand in the glass and glass
😂😂😂 but not really
What happened, did it blow out the freeze plugs?
What I was wondering
Surprisingly the freeze plugs are good, radiator split in half
All you had to do was put the boat tank on the roof
Someone should make a drinking game where they have to take a shot every single time he says old girl lol 😂
The mini 🎇🐷 looks and sounds great. You might consider converting to shaft drive. Maybe
Swap one from a Harley if possible the whole powertrain
😂that was a good one, boys! I'd say it has potential anyways!
We are so lucky to have a “retired man” today lol 😂😂not what you think I said lol
Heheheh
Do you guys need a fire extinguisher? Yeah, I wish 🤣
When you have a leaking radiator. Pinch off the lines as tight as possible. Then bondo the whole area. It will hold in a pinch.
Old derby trick.
🙌🏼
This was a scream. Subbed.
AT ANOTHER CAR SHOW IN UK I SAW A EDSOL THATWAS CONV CAMINO ERTED IN TO A CAR TRUCK FROM 4 DOOR TO 2 DOOR . LOOKED LIKE A EL COMINO
You boys get first place for trying 💯
🥇
I love the Edsels. Seen several 59s but l8ke the 58s better. Like to have this car.
AT A CAR SHOW IN UK A FEW EEKS AGO , THERE WAS AN EDSOL , FULLY RESTORED MAN WHAT A BEAUTY SHE HAD A CONTINENTOL KIT
ELECTRIC TOP WHAT A BEAUTY
I saw a mach E in person the other day and it's a monstrosity.
If ya hit the drums between the lug studs, and around the circumference (hard). You can avoid damaging the drums. Try It! Dubs.
Seemed tho every ford back in 59 had the salmon pink insides and some had it on the outside as well. At the time was a very popular color. I owned a 59 retractable hardtop in 1961. It came from michigan where salt was probably the highest content around. I got it from a neighbor who I found out his son stole it and drove it to washington, got arrested and went to prison. I got it thinking what a score... only two years old!!! Top didn't work but forced it open which was a huge mistake as the rust said that is where its going to live. Altho ford is credited for making galvination a steel additive for the steel used in making vehicles, they only used it in one plant. Hence every ford from 57 up to around the mid seventies rusted out before it got home. I grew up on fords as my small town only had one dealership.. ford. A few chevy's and some mopar but ford was dominate vehicles around... their truck line did have the galvanization process so their rigs lived. I also did a turbo on a six cylinder ford 300 and it made almost eight hundred horsepower. I am sure some similar results might happen with itty bitty edsel six's... No I ain't young either, seventy five in another month, messed around in nam myself, lucky me!
Holy cow, 75 next month. Happy early birthday! and jeesh those 300's are no joke lol. I'm glad you got the nam joke haha!
Most car shows I watch at 1.5 speed. Most are pretty boring. You guys are a trip.
Haha glad you think that! We think we’re boring and need to spice things up somehow. But that’s what will keep making this channel better, thinking like that
@@DailyDrivenDeathTraps No way. Of all the car subscriptions I have, Even Derick Biery, (VGG), I watch them all 1/2 speed faster. You two, mostly you Sean, are the Laurel and Hardy of car channels on You Tube. I just cant figure why the people that watch aren't giving you thumbs up and subscribing. I know I'm in it for the longhaul. Motortrend needs to offer you two a channel. And your dads a trip Sean.
Another great video guys 👍👍
Thanks!
I actually like the edsels been looking for one myself
Do you not now how many people love the Edsel brand? I'd enjoy owning one.
so cool
You can keep your 2 door cars, Give me the 4 door party barges any day. Oh, and the 390 in my old '73 F250 did just fine, lol. The brakes sucked, but that engine was bulletproof.
Our 390 wasn't bulletproof haha. that's why theres a cummins in it now
I've been looking for one of these I got a Lincoln mark 8 with the precorbra motor I wanted to body swap I think there so ugly there cool and I'm a chevy guy lol keep up the awesome content guys
To answer the question that just flashed about at 14min, well who wouldn't? :)
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Here's the deal, I like the car and my wife and I born in'59 so if you dropped it in Craigmont Idaho we'd take it off your hands! 😊
I think its a cool car. We have a stationwagon of edsel here in town
The biggest reason it failed was they used all metric hardware which nobody had forcing you to bring it back to the dealer to be serviced
I'd say 8 inch....flat on top.
If you can't get a socket on the bottom bolts its 9 inch
It seems to me there are still a LOT of Edsels still sitting around abandoned and in junkyards...way more than the "estimates" I have heard of only around 5000 of them still being around...seems most are '59's,also, despite more '58's being made..I believe there are more than that still around, I suspect due to people saving them back in the day, thinking they would be rare and valuable someday...and most of those survivors are still sitting around abandoned, due to the "valuable" part never materializing, despite the "rarity", and nobody wanting to sink the funds into restoring an old car that doesn't have a high value....
This is awesome 🤙🏼 we’re I grew up there was one, way out in the back 40. I did some vin digging and it had a 332 v8 I think
Nice!!
Swap something bigger in it and go! 302, 351 Windsor, 390 and let her eat!!!
you MUST continue the misery of dealing with this Edsel
Hahahaha maybeeeeee
Nice job sir car 🫢🫢🫢good show sir 👏👏👏👏
Thanks 👍
Haf to add like.
I'm just curious boat tank with a electric fuel pump for when the fuel pump is bad ... Or at least a primer bulb to squeeze as it was dieing
Do not disrespect this car!!!!
i like them.
You should’ve got a clickety-clack fuel pump as a back up if the Manuel one wasn’t working instead of wasting your time with a water bottle filling up the bowl you would’ve been home
@@717Lucero we usually carry one with us but we try to use as many original parts as possible. Our last one went on the FC and never took it off until the end of this video
That engine sounds almost identical to a slant six
Great video. VPN and all.
Wrong meds guys. Steriods are not autism meds
Love the compliment but we’re both natty. Been considering test but might not fit into the coupes anymore
actually steroids help with all ailments, including but not limited to autizzm
@@M.TTT. 😂😂😂 good to know
Semi truck! Semi truck! Semi truck!
I have always wanted an Edsel, just not this one.
All 59 Edsel's have the 9 inch Ford rear, A lot of good parts there so if you part it out let me know
Nice!
👍
Hello handsome guy, the video is amazing
the order best to worst was.... Lincoln, Mercury, Edsel, and Ford
Some rework of the homely front end would make this car far more appealing
You guys need to come get my 78 Camaro back on the road…biggest project yet?
Yes that is a 9".
What a great parts car though. By the way what split in half?
The rad split more after the JB weld
@@DailyDrivenDeathTraps Oh okay, me and my dad were betting if it was the freeze plugs or thermostat housing area.
@@yaboimax6356 yeah, thankfully just the rad like we expected. Good to know those rubber freeze plugs hold up for situations like these
I've always liked those ugly ducklings. I'd love to build that car
Two door post make it a gasser
just a thought put inline electric fuel pump on but then that would shorten your show
@@jaybirdbird2862 that’s what we did in the end of the video before it exploded
I want it!!! I love boats!! 😎
Hola saludos amigos muy buenos videos 👍 desde CDMX de 🇲🇽👍
Saludos y gracias 🙏🏼
You guys forgot to do the back brakes
Didn't feel like it, helps with burnouts as well.
I need this car for parts. How close yall are to Arkansas?
Bout 6 hrs from bentonville exactly.
I would totally try to work on this car, but would coyote swap it.
Rebodie the Is Edsel with a Crown Vic
That is one ugly car! Guys doing great job bringing her back to life. Iowa looks like a cool place to live. Corn fields are always good to see.
Everything's good here, just wish there were mountains and less of a winter haha
Free edsel SCORE
Cast iron is easy to drill.
Nah the hobo freight bits are just superior hahaha
What to do with a EDSEL ,,, simple jack up the radiator cap and drive a Ford terd bucket under it .
