    Finally! Someone else who is in the base model world. I have an 06 ls, coil overs, short throw, i manual swapped it in 2018, but man I am stuck on the ecu, I wanted mega squirt but with recent research I was thinking aem . Did you find someone with a base tune? Or did you make a tune from scratch? I’m wanting forged internals but that’s a price point I’m working up too😂my plan was turbo but before any of that I will try for 200-250 NA HP. Then boost but no rush for boost. Any advice at all? Like dude I e been looking for someone who has done this for 4 years😂 I don’t want to “sell it and buy an SS”😂😂

      The SS guys/gals are elitists. An SS is just a base model with some performance parts and better seats. The one thing I would recommend is don’t even waste your time trying for more power NA. High cost to HP gain ratio. Save your money for boost if that is route you wish to go. Setting up the AEM was expensive when I did it years ago. No plug and play wire harness so you have to build your own. It’s also fairly overwhelming at first. It’s doable as I have done but definitely not most cost effective. Turbo will make you most power per dollar. I only ran stock internals for short time with m62 blower. Only thing stock left is crankshaft lol. Let me know if you have any questions but know the route you are considering is difficult and pricey. Not trying to talk you out of it just don’t want you to end up discouraged after it’s too late.

      @@fabricobbletechit’s all overwhelming if I’m being honest😂 but I am trying to go for the best price. I want reliable horsepower. But at a decent price. I’m prepared to make a new harness completely but is your daily drivable? Also did you pay a tuner? I’m honestly trying to learn tuning myself. I have no problem going straight turbo with just internals upgraded. Also did you use all your stock plugs when making your own harness? Where did you order your parts. I have seen skunkworks, ZZP, and a few other sites. I’ve got many more questions but I’ll hopefully space this out to where I can follow it when I start the build.

    I think that cold air intake would pair great with my turbo.

    What a ripper!!! I just picked me up a cobalt and wanna figure out what software people are using to tune these things. Be a waste of money having to send my tune to zzp everything I change exhaust stuff or intake stuff or pulley sizes or fuel

      If you have an 05-06 base you are SOL like I was. I had to do aftermarket ECM and went with AEM Infinity. 07 and up you use hptuners. Pretty sure ZZP uses hptuners for their tuning services as well. Trifecta used to cover 05-06 but they dropped support some time ago. Hope this helps!

    I technically have a SS, 07 2.4 auto. I eventually plan to super charge it if i keep it long enough. Your car is pretty cool though.

      Aesthetically my Cobalt is a econobox turd. Functionally I essentially have upgraded SS suspension and even engine. Only engine part left from my 2.2 is the crank. I do still have stock brakes with drums in the rear. If I ever do road course that will have to change but honestly even for auto cross the rear drums are just fine. People hate on them because they overheat much easier but most of those people have never driven hard enough to heat up their brakes anyway. Tbh for auto cross anyway, I still need more front bias.
      Boost is fun. It’s gotten a lot more expensive than when I did all the work on mine a few years ago.

    Are you on Stock Internals!?

      Used to be back when I started with M62 supercharger. Then I went forged rods and pistons but did dingle ball home in garage. It worked well for a while but ultimately was an oil burner. Now I have eagle rods, wiseco pistons, STOCK crank but with LSJ block. LSJ block is essentially the same as L61 block but with added oil squirters. Camshaft is a little different on the end of intake cam. Iirc I had to cut LSJ cam to fit L61 head. But now I have zzp stage 2 blower cams valve springs with titanium retainers. Stock LSJ valves. Basically only the crank is left from original L61 but you could easily run this 1320 blower with only forged rods and pistons. You could run on stock rods and pistons but you'd be living life on the edge.

    i just inherited a 2008 cobalt LS , I broke one of the shift cables will this method working on replacing mine? I don't know much about cars, but I want to make sure I get all the info I can. So i can try to fix it myself.

      Yeah yours should be exactly the same besides a big plastic engine cover I removed a long time ago. Mine is an 06. The hardest part is fighting the damn cable through the firewall!

    What supercharger ? Been trying to find a 2.4 2011 LE5 Kit for my 2011 Malibu. But it’s been slim looking online

    • @fabricobbletech
      @fabricobbletech  Рік тому

      Harrop TVS1320. The supercharger is aftermarket but it bolts directly to stock LSJ intake manifold. Pretty sure LSJ parts will bolt to LE5 but may want to confirm. Stock LSJ supercharger is M62.

    • @Weeziest

      I just did this to my cobalt le5, most likely all lsj parts would directly bolt up to it if its similar to the cobalt le5
