I tried this GE system and the plastic tubes were leaking from the cold water supply valve. I don't understand why it's all cheap plastic and they just can't get you copper/stainless steel valve connectors/braided hoses. I didnt trust it with the pressure from the supply valve - worried it would burst at night or when no one is home, so I just returned it. Went with Britta for a few months, but I might install something more durable in the future with metal connections.
Thanks for this. You're good at explaining. I have a 10" filter with a 10" housing, but the filter became moldy because I couldn't screw it shut, it didn't go all the way down to the buttom(rounded off housing at the buttom, two different manufacturors. How is the water supposed to flow when the filter is inside the housing?
The hand spray is removed to make room for the filter control valve assembly. Now do not see how did you secure the faucet side where the hand spray was attached. The water will flow through that opening uninterrupted.
Just installed with left handed valve installation method. Followed the directions carefully, even the flush. But i noticed that my water is still smelling tasting like Chlorine. The filters were factory sealed, so they weren't used. As per your flushing instructions I am turning the valve to the right (towards the faucet). But should I turn the Control Valve to the left to activate the filter system?
Follow up; I tried turning the valve in the opposite direction and that made no difference in odor or taste. I just trying to talk to someone from GE Customer Service and the person I had was completely useless (Sorry GE)! Seems like I'll have to uninstall, and repack and send back to Amazon for a refund. I guess the upside to having a Prime Membership. Also another thing I failed to mentioned is that there are several air bubbles, even after I flushed the system in both directions. Funny never had an issue with any other GE Water Filter Products. I have (on the same supply water line) a single GE Filter and the GE Refrigerator Filter and that water is amazing coming out of my water dispenser on the fridge. Crystal Clear, no bubbles or Chlorine taste or odor!
I have had to replace this unit 4 times within 6 months. The manifold keeps cracking. Has anyone else had any similar issues or able to tell me why this keeps happening. When I called GE customer service line they just tell me that they are not technician and cannot assist me and that I would have to have a tech come out to the house, which seems a little ridiculous to me for a water filtration system.

Just received new cartridges for my Dual Smartwater unit. They are identical to my old ones but water won't go thru them. I put the old ones back in and it works fine ! What's going on ?
I had the same question. Mine started blinking pretty soon. I’m wondering if pressing the button is supposed to set a timer. I doubt it’s telling you the state of the filter. Rather, it seems to me like it’s measuring how much time it has been used, like the timer on a switch. Hitting that button tells you to reset the clock…
Hi Issac & Steve- Thanks so much for your question. We are happy to help! You are correct that the light is set to a 6 month timer. The filter life is 6 months or 300 gallons. If your water is still flowing fine you can reset the filter light and just write the date on the filter so you'll know when to replace it. If you have any questions, please let us know. We are happy to help! JW

What if my supply lines are 1/2"? The product description doesn't say whether it works on both 1/2 and 3/8, but the comments suggest it's only 3/8. Does it come with adapters or do I have to buy those too?
