I've had same tractor for over 35 years. Got it so it starts and runs perfect. Years ago I changed distributor out with one from an old toyota 1600 car. Gear fit right on and the tractor started like a new machine. Couldn't believe difference it made. Also carb has to be cleaned. If I make sure no water drips on carb it never gives a problem. I can let it sit for 2 years and it will start first crank always.
I have a regular deep well 7/8" laying in corner of box still. not that I have changed many of them, but once was enough. same as the 4WD sockets, which I never owned a vehicle they fit, bought them to service someone else's junk lol ** they're mostly aviation spark plugs with 7/8" hex, of course they were popular on tractors and other heavy equipment since they were made more durable
the little clip-hook on the bottom of float needle helps keep it from sticking shut when sitting around and helps for vibration also, the float simply pulls it down when it drops too low. the old needle was likely stainless steel or brass and the new is likely rubber tipped, the soft tip sticks in the seat very easily.
@@TheDisgruntledMechanic lol happens to me all the time oh crap I have one of these can't find it oh well just buy another tool and what not lol sad thing is you always find the old tool after you buy the new tool lol
the throttle lever mark is likely for the right generator rpm, which changes the frequency it outputs, of course you want it close to 60Hz as possible or things get unhappy and start cooking. lol
First! Your dad would be so happy and proud. I'm sure he's smiling.
Good to see another Update On this Old Girl
Sweet! That's awesome to see you got Dad's old tractor going, nicely done Mike!

Awesome, nothing like turning over an engine after it has been sitting for years, especially when you needed to do some work to get it going.
So True! I had a huge smile when it finally started and kept running!
My first tractor was a 1940 Massey Harris 101 Jr and my 2nd was a 1953 Massey Harris 101 Sr great tractors
I love this old girl as much as my dad did. My grandpa had a 101 SR also. Oh and dad also had a 101 JR at 1 time.
Loving that genny attachment.
Got us through a few storms!
good job . cool generator
Thanks!

Good morning Mike, old girl sounds good.
Thanks! It didn't sound that good back in the day when it did run!

Thanks for the info! I am pretty sure it was stainless, but I set it down somewhere and can't find it now! HA!
awesome and I'm happy for you!
Thanks!
You just can't kill those older vehicles. I'll bet you that if you leave a new car untouched for a year you will NEVER start it again.Lol
Thanks Jim! she is about 80 years old and still sounds and runs awesome!
Why does it look like the frame is twisting when the clutch is engaged? Something loose somewhere?
Not sure. Will have to look at it closer.
I like using ultrasonic cleaners for carbs
Yeah I forgot about my ultra sound cleaner. Forgot I bought it! Ha!

You are correct! now that you mention it I remeber as a kid dad telling me that. Sometimes the old memory just needs to jogged a bit!
