For me, it's because of The Fountain of Lamneth. It's the only Rush song over 7 minutes I just can't get into. I love when YYNOT covers the "No One at the Bridge" part live, but that's about it.
I really like the The Fountain Of Lamneth. I think it stands up to anything on the second side of 2112. Of course Geddy admits that they were probably high when they made Caress Of Steel and it marked a low point in their career, so Rush themselves had a negative opinion of that album, but I still enjoy it.
@@LaPiernaDeMiAbuela Agree on Tai Shan, it’s the stinker on the album, even the band themselves admit it was a mistake to record it. Love the tracks you mentioned. Time Stand Still, Force Ten and especially Mission are very fine tracks as well. 1980-87 is actually my favorite Rush era, and A Show of Hands is great as well because it contains many of the tracks from that era. The track listing on the live video is different and a bit better though. Still have my original VHS.
1- Saga : The Beginner Guide to Throwing Shapes 2- Todd Rundgren : Initiation (especially A Treatise on Cosmic Fire) 3- Dream Theater : Falling Into Infinity 4- Iron Maiden : No Prayer for the Dying 5- Deep Purple : Come Taste the Band
For me, the album that perfectly fits this category is Virtual XI by Iron Maiden. The Blaze era, I feel, is generally looked down upon simply because it is not Bruce Dickinson but Virtual XI is a loaded album. It has The Clansman, Educated Fool, Don't Look to the Eyes of a Stranger, and more on it. It is definitely worth the listen for sure and it really should be given a second chance.
I feel Blaze is starting to fuse with them on that album whereas it felt like he was out of place on X Factor. Angel and the Gambler definitely sounds like Harris is writing music with more a feel for Bayley's unique style vs Bruce and agree it has gotten more hate than it deserves.
@@63mckenzie both amazing albums..... even "Thunder and Lightning" with John Sykes is awesome(heavy as fuck)...... tbh, the only Lizzy album I never cared about is the second one(Orphanage)...... the songwriting just isn't there and sounds boring to me, very disappointing follow-up after that amazing debut..... but the rest of their discography definitely RULES..... I even love that "soft" one, "Nightlife" with that cool album cover(I mean, it's a bit out of their usual style, but the songwriting was great on most songs and I enjoyed it for what it was)
No prayer for the dying has some absolutely killer trax, mother russia, as good of an epic finisher as they ever done, and a must learn for any aspiring bass player
@@purpletemple1 Presto has always been a disappointment to me, as a whole. Though I think SHOW DON'T TELL, THE PASS and AVAILABLE LIGHT are Gems. The last Chorus-fade-out of Available Light is incredible: Peart (not pert) is playing with TREMENDOUS force and intent!! It Soars musically, and the lyric is Sublime. But I've never heard anyone (including the band!) ever mention this song... except to dis it.
@steven milstead I like Presto a lot. Nobody ever mentions the title track which is the most classic sounding Rush song on that album I think. Really good stuff despite the thin sound.
"Born Again" - Black Sabbath. Dio is my favorite Sabbath singer, but Born Again remains my favorite Sabbath album since first hearing it in the early 80s.
Ever one seems to diss Never Say Die from Sabbath; but I love that album. 'Johnny Blade' is a kick-ass, in-your-face, rocker...I defy anyway to say otherwise!
Never Say Die has some great songs on it, I love the vibe of that album. Johnny Blade (diabolic guitar by Iommi), Juniors Eyes, Shockwave, Over To You.
Sweet- Off the Record. Brian’s last great vocal performance before he started to go down hill. Some great heavy songs and a good variety of other styles. Definitely worth a listen.
Great pick! There is something about those two classy tunes “Twilight Hotel” and “Still of the Night.” Throw in the “The Wild and the Young” and “Main Attraction” and the others…a surprisingly good album!
KISS - Music from "The Elder" KISS - Unmasked Iron Maiden - No Prayer for the Dying Iron Maiden - Fear of the Dark KISS - Carnival of Souls Savage Steel - Begins with a Nightmare Judas Priest - Turbo Judas Priest - Demolition Queen - Hot Space Motley Crue - Theatre of Pain Slayer - Diabolous in Musica Discharge - Grave New World Scorpions - Savage Amusement Celtic Frost - Cold Lake Black Sabbath - Seventh Star Black Sabbath - The Eternal Idol through Forbidden Black Sabbath - Never Say Die! I'm not very picky.
Yes - Scorps Savage Amusement is much better than I remember! It is more commercial minded but rocks harder than I originally thought. I need to get it again on disc! Peace and good list!
Iron Maiden: the 2-disc pre-'98 non-remastered/squashed pressings of the studio albums from the debut to FOTD! (or what the hell, make it the rest of them too!) Those have been out of print for a *long* time and command pretty high prices on the 2nd hand market. It's really odd how there's been several rounds of remasters/reissues of the basic albums, but the only time (IIRC) they've re-released the singles' B-side material was on the Eddie's Archives box set, which is also long out of print and expensive, isn't quite 100% complete, and is from 2002 and thus brickwalled af as was tradition at the time.
@@MosoKaiser I have a few of em. Used to have the Fear one which has some cool bonus tracks. Agree those should be reissued but Maiden should release a bunch of stuff from their archives
I saw Foghat on the Zig Zag Walk tour...dave introduced one of the new songs...'Here's a new one, this goes out to both of the people who bought the album'
Heritage by Opeth My favourite 2010s Opeth Album and sometimes I even prefer it to some of the 90s and 00s Albums And that says alot because Opeth is my favourite Band
Rush - "Hold Your Fire" (as others have mentioned) Geddy's bass playing on that album is amazing! Pink Floyd - "Atom Heart Mother" (Gilmour solo on "Fat Old Sun" is a precursor to things to come on Meddle, Dark Side and beyond) Yes - "Talk" - love 'State of Play' Joe Satriani - "Engines of Creation" - certainly different but it's still Joe!
I wouldn't say Hughes was a great fit for the Sabbath sound, as 'Seventh Star' for all intents & purposes was a Tony Iommi solo album in all but name. It's a cool record for what it is. Hughes' abilities were never in question, after all he is the "voice of rock". Iommi/Hughes proper follow-up sequel 'Fused' is well-worth checking out
Big thumbs up for the Sweet Fanny Adams shirt. First rock album i ever had, me Mum chose it after i asked for a Sweet album back in the mid 70's when i was about 10 years old. Ironically, in the following years, drove my family bonkers with the "bloody row" that album got me into after! : )
A few from me... *Pink Floyd* - 'The Final Cut' Over recent years it has become my favourite album by the band. I think perhaps it means more to a British audience, given the background of the Falklands war and the divisive premiership of Margaret Thatcher. It contains the finest lyrics Roger Waters ever penned {'Paranoid Eyes' is masterful) and also his most emotional singing. *Led Zeppelin* - 'Presence' It was always found in the bargain bins back in the day, but I think time has been really good to it. A fine, fine album which sees the band going back to basics on many songs. I've long described the sound as junkie rockabilly from Saturn. *Queen* - 'Hot Space' I didn't like it much at the time but about half of it has grown on me enormously, that is the Freddie-dominated dance tracks. I now adore disco music and love the fact that the band went down that road. To be honest I wish they'd done a whole record in that style. Freddie's singing is superb on those tunes, some of his best ever.
I saw a reviewer say not liking "Body Language" makes you a homophobe. 😂 I'd say not liking the whole album would do it (and no, you don't get a pass for just liking "Under Pressure)
I really respect Pete's mission of getting fans to accept change in bands (ie Journey) I saw Queen & Paul Rodgers in Belfast in 2005 and that REALLY opened my mind to the whole concept because if there's ANY band you'd argue couldn't survive without their singer it's Queen. The concert was exceptional and Paul was outstanding bringing his own thing to proceedings, they also played some of his big hits and getting to hear Radio Gaga with 10,000 other people is an experience most folks should have!
I totally get with what you’re saying about Queen . I had a similar experience but with Adam Lambert fronting Queen at their last concert at The 02 , London I was fortunate to see Queen 3 times during their career with Freddie Mercury so the bar had bern set very high ! Adam Lambert fronting Queen is very marmite with the Queen fan base , but I have to say how much I enjoyed the concert , the production was very high , the visuals were excellent and I was blown away by what a good vocalist Lambert is and there certainly is a chemistry between him and Roger Taylor & Brian May and the backing musicians. Lambert doesn’t try to impersonate Freddie Mercury and brings something else to the performance. Queen and Paul Rodgers were good live but I was very disappointed with the studio album that they made together .
Kiss - Psycho Circus Styx - Kilroy Was Here Pink Floyd - The Final Cut Bay City Rollers - Greatest Hits Air Supply - Greatest Hits Bread - Greatest Hits
The X Factor by Iron Maiden is deeply affecting for me honestly, one of my Big 4 IM albums. Never got the hate for it (or any of the post-SSOASS Maiden albums)
@@bronzeagekid8223 I guess his live performance on tour played a big part in it. And not really his fault either. First the band didn't tune down to accommodate for Blaze's vocal range so he had to struggle singing older songs, and then that was made even harder by allergic reactions to some of the materials used on the stage props & constructs. His solo albums and live performances show much better what he can do.
This was a really enjoyable episode, and I'm definitely onboard with Club Ninja - it's an album I find myself going back to again and again. Show idea for you, Pete: Albums where the first song's killer, but the rest is all filler! Thanks again for all the amazing content.
ELP- Love Beach Yes- Big Generator Pink Floyd- The Final Cut The Beatles- Let It Be The Who- It's Hard UFO- Misdemeanor Screaming Trees- Dust There are others, but these are the ones that came to mind.
_Let It Be_ was very much loved when it came out, if you were around at the time. Much later, it went through a period where it was popular to diss it, mostly because of Spector's production on some of the songs. It wasn't a problem for most fans when it was released.
As a follow up to the power metal classic The Warning, Queensryche left a lot of people scratching their heads with Rage For Order, but I just love that record. So different and exciting. I listen to that as much, if not more than Operation Mindcrime. I could have mentioned Diver Down, too. Such a fun, windows down summer record, and "Little Guitars" stacks up to any song in the VH catalog.
Terrific concept. Saw this coming and about time. Interesting picks. My picks Metallica-load Iron maiden-the x factor Pink floyd-a momentary lapse of reason Joe satriani-engines of creation Kreator-endorama
Triumph 'The Sport of Kings'... Just listened recently and it sounded great, only the one big big hit on it but still that wonderful Triumph musicianship!
“Slaves And Masters” is great! “Fire In The Basement” is one of my favorite songs. Smoking organ solo and great guitar work that plays beautifully with the keyboard work.
Eloy: "Metromania" (1984) considered their worst, the album that broke up the band. My first (and favorite) Eloy album, I love it. Yes: the entire '80s. Love "Drama," and I'm a huge Trevor Rabin fan ("90125" and "Big Generator") Kiss: "Crazy Nights" (1987) I'm weird and far prefer '80s Kiss to '70s Kiss UFO: "Making Contact" (1983) the Paul Chapman years get too much hate in general. People say this album sounds like the band is burned out, but I just don't hear it. Thin Lizzy: "Chinatown" (1980) Killer album, another album that people say the band was burned out, Snowy White didn't fit, blah blah. But it ranks highly for me Rush: everything from 1982-1993. Favorite period of Rush. Bite me. Led Zeppelin: "In Through The Out Door" (1979) favorite LZ album, containing my favorite LZ song (Carouselambra). Have I fully discredited myself yet? Pink Floyd: "Momentary Lapse Of Reason" (1987) my first and favorite PF album. As a bonus, no Roger Waters vocals. Don't care if it's a de facto David Gilmour solo album, I love it. Journey: "Raised On Radio" (1986) Schon at his shreddiest, the production was super '80s but not overdone like Frontiers. Very tight musicianship, great songs and hooks. Kansas: "Drastic Measures" (1983) I have no defense for this one. I just love it. Judas Priest: "Turbo" (1986) Makes my head bang every time. I can admit this was a misstep for the band, but I quite like it a lot. Saga: "Wildest Dreams" (1987) Their only straight pop album, a risk and a failure, but it bangs, for me Black Sabbath: "Born Again" (1983) So fucking awful it's good. Heavy as shit, needs to be remixed but I rank it super high Whitesnake: "Slip Of The Tongue" (1989) Shreddy hair metal is my favorite, and anything with Steve Vai gets my vote. "But it's not bluueeessy enough..." Good, I say. Y&T: "Contagious" (1987) Not hated so much as ignored or forgotten. But my favorite from them, love Jimmy DeGrasso's drums, killer solos by Dave Meniketti, great sound. Accept: "Eat The Heat" (1989) David Reece is a fantastic, underrated vocalist. Great musicianship and hooks. Is it the best Accept album? No, but doesn't deserve the hate, I don't think.
Great comment. In through the out door is the strongest Led Zeppelin album and my number 3 led zeppelin album after led zep 1 and 3. Carouselambra and im Gonna crawl are perfect(10/10). All of my love and fool in the rain really catchy(9,5/10). In the evening is the heviest(9/10). And south bound suarez and hot dog are really fun songs(8,5/10). Perfect album!
Here are a few of my choices: Never Say Die! - Black Sabbath Who Do We Think We Are? - Deep Purple Jugulator - Judas Priest The X-Factor - Iron Maiden Roll The Bones - Rush Magica - Dio Fly From Here - Yes
@@theironlukeve5544 yeah, some people don't like maiden newer sound, with everyone a bit older, you can hear it in dickinsons voice. still a good album though.
@@tomb2577 Agreed, Montsegur is an instant Maiden classic. It's a great album but i can hear where some of the songs don't fit the classic Maiden sound/mold
1.) Caress of Steel - Rush 2.) The Final Cut - Pink Floyd 3.) Abacab - Genesis (I agree with Martin on this) 4.) A Passion Play - Jethro Tull 5.) Black and Blue - The Rolling Stones Honorable Mention - Endless Wire by the Who (THANK YOU MARTIN!!!!) When this album came out, Pete Townshend's website presented a song-by-song breakdown by Pete himself, and that was the key to me fully understanding this album, especially the mini-opera. It probably would have been more difficult without that song-by-song breakdown. You also need to be a fan of the Pete Townshend solo album Psychoderelict from 1993, because that album's main character Ray High resurfaces on the Endless Wire album.
My picks are: - "Calling All Stations" by Genesis - "Lulu" by Lou Reed & Metallica - "Secret Life Of Plants" by Stevie Wonder - "Tormato" by Yes - "Pretties For You" by Alice Cooper - "The Astonishing" by Dream Theater - "Love And the Russian Winter" by Simply Red - "Chinese Democracy" by Guns N' Roses - "Never Let Me Down" by David Bowie - "Chameleon" by Helloween - "A Momentary Lapse Of Reason" by Pink Floyd
Just some prog picks to add in. King Crimson - ConstrucKtion of Light; such a fun album with both Larks pt.4 and FracKtured Yes - Big Generator; not the same as 70's Yes, but still so much fun Rush - Grace Under Pressure; again, not the same as prime Rush, but definitely a worthwhile album Also, Discovery is a great album Pete! Horace Wimp is one of my favorite ELO songs. Great pick!
Iron Maiden Fear of the Dark. Great production on this album for one. Also,.some of the tracks sound like they could be Bruce solo songs which I don't mind because I loved Tattooed Millionaire, but there are still plenty of classic Maiden sounding tracks like Afraid to Shoot Strangers, Childhood's End, Be Quick, the Fugitive and of course the title track.
5. Van Halen - Diver Down 4. Genesis - Wind and Wuthering 3. Miles Davis - Miles in the Sky 2. Yes - Big Generator/The Ladder 1. Robert Plant - Shaken ‘n Stirred
I absolutely LOVE: 1. A Momentary Lapse of Reason (1987) 2. Seventh Star (1986) and Tony Martin era albums (1987-1995) 3. The House of Blue Light (1987) and Slaves and Masters (1990) 4. Calling All Stations (1997) 5. Made in Heaven (1995) 6. St. Anger (2003) 7. Point of Entry (1981), Turbo (1986), Ram It Down (1988), Jugulator (1997), and Demolition (2001) 8. Maiden albums of the 90s including the Blaze Bayley era 9. Powers Windows (1985) to Roll the Bones (1991)
Hey, K..... Great choices!.... For starters House Of Blue Light is terrific(I don't know for the life of me why the fans didn't warm up to it at the time! - - - - Spanish Archer and Mitzi Dupree are every bit as good as anything off the masterpiece Perfect Strangers! ).... As for Power Windows, please dont get me started!.... A monumental album filled with some of Rush's most memorable music(Middletown Dreams, anyone?) .... Take Care, Ghostrider Rick
Genesis-Calling All Stations. I remember Classic Rock Mag album rankings calling it "one to avoid". Even the band seem to have disowned it. I watched a Genesis documentary & it didn't even get a mention. There's some great tracks on it, the title track, Congo, Shipwrecked, What About Us. I've heard it said "It shouldn't even be called a Genesis album"' but then some people say that about all the post Gabriel albums. More Classic Rock Mag "one's to avoid" are Thin Lizzy's Renegade & Marillion's Fugazi, both of which I think are great.
Some great choices guys. 👍 Here's my five:- Never Say Die - Black Sabbath The Battle Rages On - Deep Purple Turbo - Judas Priest Savage Amusement - Scorpions 7800 Fahrenheit - Bon Jovi 👍
OK, Shaun, here goes nothing! ...... Never Say Die is my second fav. Sabbath behind Bloody.... Interesting, I will openly admit that I was down down down on Savage for the looooongest time but recently gave it a spin and..... (wait for it, wait for it).... I will admit that the first side is terrific(especially Rhythm Of Love) but YOU(my friend) have to admit that the second side is simply not as good... Reassessment of Savage Amusement complete!.... Take Care, Ghostrider Rick
@@richardpeiser4359 hi ghost rider rick. My favorite sabbath album is also Sabbath Bloody Sabbath! With regards to Savage Amusement, you're right side one is the superior side. All 5 songs are killer. However, I do also love the melodic 'every minute every day' and the fast and furious 'love on the run' from side two. 👍
Lovely subject My list : Wishbone Ash : Raw to the bone T.S.O.L : Strange Love Iron Maiden : Fear of the dark Saxon : Rock the nations Twisted Sister : Come out and play The two first I will fight for, the three last could be nostalgia reasons.
Black Sabbath - Technical Ecstasy The Kinks - Schoolboys In Disgrace KISS - Crazy Nights Metallica - Death Magnetic Slayer - Diabolus in Musica Great episode as usual, guys. Loved the Deep Purple discussion and you know, I never checked out Head First from Uriah Heep. Going to give that a listen.
Boston: third stage Foreigner: unusual heat Priest: turbo Metallica: load Bryan adams: into the fire Oasis: be here now Floyd: momentary lapse of reason Rush: presto Steven wilson: to the bone Whitesnake: slip of the tounge
Fear of the dark - Iron Maiden. The disparity between How much people hate it and how much i love it makes it my no.1 choice. Also a pretty big fan of No Prayer
No Prayer For the Dying. Maybe because it was my intro to Maiden so there is some sentimental nostalgia there, but still love it and think it blows Fear of the Dark (by far their worst, IMO) out of the water.
both albums are very solid in my opinion...... "Fear of the Dark" has a few songs I come back to almost constantly....... their weakest are those with Blaze, but even those had several good songs which I still like
@@itkojecockot The x factor has grown on me over the years & i actually like it better than fear of the dark & no prayer for the dying & im quite surprised it has shifted that way for me,but that Virtual Xi album still awful
Blaze's vocals are not a good fit whatsoever but at least the musicianship on those 2 albums is respectable. Fear of the Dark sounds like a demo album, and a bad one at that. The only two redeemable songs are the 1st and last on the alb, and even at that I don't ever have to hear the song Fear of the Dark ever ever again.
1) Miles Davis - On The Corner (1972) 2) Return To Forever - Musicmagic 3) Weather Report - Mr Gone 4) Mahavishnu Orchestra - Inner Worlds (1976) 5) Chicago - XIV (1980)
Metallica - Load (Their most underrated album, IMO and I think Re-Load is decent, but should have been an EP) Judas Priest - Nostradamus (A bit bloated, but I appreciate the ambition and the title track kicks ass) Slayer - Diabolus in Musica and Repentless (I think the latter isn't THAT bad)
Thank you both for this fun episode and the love for BOC Club Ninja, which I deeply love because it was my 1st album by them when I was about 12 or 13 years old! (Istill think that it is better than "Mirrors" and "Revolution" Btw" Hehe ;-), But certainly not their best album IMHO.. Although I have not heard alot of these albums, I think that most of them have one common thing = "Experimentation"! And trying to fit in with the era in which they were made. All of them do not become these classic bands finest thing for sure. Two RUSH albums that get the bad rap is HOF, which of course thank God is their Last Great Geddy keyboard driven "Era", which deserves to get the regards that it gets, after a Very Great era! And "Presto", which Kind of puzzles me as to why so many do not like it, as It IS Alex's great come back to guitar driven songs! Maybe fans were finally getting used to the keyboard after all of that time?? Who knows!
Hate may be too strong a word, but I never understood why there wasn't more love for Led Zeppelin's Presence and Blue Oyster Cult's Mirrors. Those get a lot of play at my house.
Danzig 6: Satan's Child. A lot of people dismissed Danzig after the first 4 album, but this album is really good from front to back. Suicidal Tendencies - Freedumb. It's my favorite album after Lights, Camera, Revolution. Love the songs Cyco Vision, Freedumb, and We Are Family. Raven- The Pack is Back. More commercial but the songs are still really well written and catchy.
My 2 favorite speakers of great music! And honestly agree with every pick they had here and I am sorry Martin I forgot to add Abominog in my contrarian pick!
Black Sabbath - Never Say Die (sorry again, Pete :D) Gentle Giant - Civilian (maybe a lot of people view this as a improvement after Giant For A Day, but it's still fairly disliked by many) Pain of Salvation - Scarsick (oh god, how much sh*t was thrown to this when PoS released it. And I never got that, it's as strong as their classic albums) Opeth - Heritage (for me that's a start of golden Opeth era. And many people to this day still can't overcome this change of style) Steven Wilson - To The Bone (one of the best prog-pop albums I've ever listened, it still has all the qualities of every SW album) Genesis - And Then There Were Three (really enjoyable album but hated by Gabriel-fan-snobs just because that's the same three guys who made all that poppy stuff some years later). And the most funny choice for last: Metallica - St. Anger (I just find this very original. Maybe it lacks some qualities of traditional Metallica sound and compositions, but that album was a brave and interesting statement... and I really like it).
Great video gentlemen!! Completely agree about Fozzy, massively underrated! Here's mine... Paradise lost - one second Iron maiden - X factor Rainbow - down to earth Red hot chili peppers - one hot minute REM - Out of Time
Queensryche- "Here In The Now Frontier" Love it! Excellent songwriting, performances and tones. The haters are WRONG. Queensryche- "Promised Land" Their best along with "RFO". Huge integrity album after "Empire". Queensryche- "Q2k" A very unique album with great deep cuts. Queensryche- "Tribe" Excellent production and killer tones. "The Art of Life" is a masterpiece. Megadeth- "Risk" A very creative and expansive album with British Invasion vibes. Excellent vocals. Van Halen - "VH 3" proggish vibes. Creative, different and jarring. Gary is excellent. I just wish it had more MA. Dokken- "Shadowlife" I've always dug the songs on this record. Not stereotypical Dokken and I love it. Robin Trower- "In City Dreams" Sexy, moody, dreamy, creamy R&B flavors. Great songs! The Beach Boys- "Smiley Smile" Wacky and challenging in a fun way. Super creative and weird. Michael Jackson- "History" Extremely intimate and personal with so many different genres all over it. Excellent vocals. Angry, sweet, innocent, stellar! Michael Jackson- "Invincible" One of his best. Ahead of it's time. Excellent vocals. "Butterflies" is excellence personified. Savatage- "Streets: A Rock Opera" Their best. Rush- "Presto" Some of their best songs. I love the tones. It's a cold record but it fits the mood. I love when bands grow and mature or "change" their sound. Much more interesting and genuine to me than the same ol' same ol' rinse repeat (Dream Theater, Iron Maiden).
Metallica - St. Anger - most people can't stand this record, but I would argue that the album has more energy and emotion than people give it credit. I think that a lot of songs are angry and visceral, not trying to be cool. The struggle that the band had can be heard and all that chaotic anger and frustration is right there, I like it.
I won't argue the raw emotion, and even if you put aside Lars' snare, I still find the songs/lyrics kind of cringy. I can't make it past the third song, I tried a few times. The album just sounds like a band trying too hard to be something they're not.
St. Anger is my pick as well. I don't like the entire album, but it has some good tracks. The Unnamed Feeling I can honestly say is in my top 20 Metallica songs of all-time.
Totally agree on The Unnamed Feeling, which is a top ten Metallica track for me. Amazing. Unfortunately the snare sound drives so many people away…and I can’t say I blame them. Remix it and fix up the snare and this is one of my favorites.
Black Sabbath - Technical Ecstasy John Coltrane - Live in Japan 1966 (4 discs - 6 songs: about as "out there" as jazz ever got IMO) King Crimson - Lizard Guided by Voices - Earthquake Glue Jethro Tull - Too Old to Rock and Roll Flaming Lips - Zaireeka Pavement - Westing (By Musket and Sextant)
I wholeheartedly agree with you.... Out of the entire Ozzy Era releases, I think that Technical had aged the best!... It has a tight, modern sound(ex: Back Street Kid, All Moving Parts) and has shot up the ladder of my favorite Sabbath albums(to my surprise!)... A simply terrific album that needs more love than it gets... Take Care, Ghostrider Rick
My mentions - * KISS: Music From The Elder. *JUDAS PRIEST: Point Of Entry. *BOC:Club Ninja. Back in the day,I recall "almost no-one" that liked, praised, went out & bought these albums, admittedly; I wasn't a huge fan....but they grew on me & a lot of those tracks really hold up & are very, listenable. Top 5 in those bands catalogs to me.
Everyone who calls this album Rainbow seem to forget that 2 members of Whitesnake are on it too but no one says that ever. It's ridiculous everyone needs to get over it. I saw that tour and they were great. Maybe they should have brought Coverdale in instead but then people would complain that it isn't Deep Purple but it's now Deep Snake or something else stupid.
Hey, Drew... I once heard Ritchie Blackmore say that Slaves And Masters is one of his favorite albums from his long and distinguished career!... Pretty high praise, huh?... I have never spun that album but is high on my list... Take Care, Ghostrider Rick
Power Windows - RUSH Hear from the Now Frontier - Queensryche Stiff Upper Lip - AC/DC Slang - Def Leppard Native Tongue - Poison Psycho Circus - Kiss Lost Highway - Bon Jovi Blow up Your video - AC/DC Dysfunctional - Dokken
Judas Priest - Turbo. Nobody seems to like this album, but because i grew up in the early and mid 80s and always had a softspot for 80s synth and new wave, i had no problem whatsoever when Priest brought synths into Heavy Metal. I still listen to that record every now and then. "Turbo Lover", "Private Property", "Parental Guidance" and "Locked in" are all fantastic songs.
Slaves and Masters is SO GREAT. But what do I know? I like the JLT era of Rainbow too, and this has 3/5 of that. "King of Dreams", "Fire in the Basement", "Cut Runs Deep".... lots of great songs.
1. Spinal Tap - Smell the Glove 2. Spinal Tap - Brain Hammer 3. Spinal Tap - Intravenous de Milo 4. Spinal Tap - The Sun Never Sweats 5. Spinal Tap - Shark Sandwich
Iron Maiden - X Factor Metallica - Load Fish - A Feast of Consequences Marillion - Holidays in Eden King Crimson - The ConstruKction of Light Dream Theater - The Astonishing
Virtual XI-Iron Maiden The Deed is Done-Molly Hatchet Devil's Canyon-Molly Hatchet Silent Reign of Heroes-Molly Hatchet (the McCormack era of the band is really underrated.) March or Die-Motorhead Special Forces-Alice Cooper Slaves & Masters-Deep Purple

Some albums I thought of are: No World Order - Todd Rundgren (it's got a bad review, but I like it quite much). To The Hilt - Golden Earring (their most symphonic imho) Camel's last albums (people generally prefer their early work, but I am a fan of the later). Calling all stations - Genesis Incantations - Mike Oldfield (not that bad, but for me a favorite) Oh, and I'm a Bananas fan from DP
Hi Pete, can you do a video about the sad news of Frank Marino, needing to retire. It's very sad, I'll miss his amazing guitar playing, singing, and great song writing. Please, everyone who believes in prayer, pray for Frank.
I did mention this news the other day, at the end of the Megadeth Classic Album Rewind show. Out of respect for Frank, I'd rather not do a whole separate episode on it.
Judas Priest - Turbo (1986 It doesn't hurt all the great memories I have with this album. Being 16, partying & seeing the Priest/Dokken show summer '86) Genesis - Invisible Touch (1986, I've read numerous reviews trashing this record). I like all the songs on this album & apparently so did a couple million other people Ozzy Osbourne - The Ultimate Sin (1986). Mostly I've just heard Ozzy himself say he hates the production on this album. Whatever I love every song on this album Eagles - The Long Run (1979, I've never quite understood the beating this album takes). I think it's probably my favorite Eagles album. I never skip any song when I listen to it Rolling Stones - Dirty Work (1986, far from my favorite Stones album but I think it's better than about 3 or 4 other albums of theirs) Twisted Sister - Love Is For Suckers (1987, this is certainly better than their previous album "Come Out And Play". Some heavy rockers on here like "Wake Up The Sleeping Giant" Yes - 90125 (1983, haven't heard alot of hate for this album but it's never ranked above any of their 70's albums). This is my favorite Yes album The Who - It's Hard (1982, I can actually listen to this entire album without skipping any tracks) Led Zeppelin -In Through The Out Door (1979, except for "Hot Dog" I really like every song on this album) Styx - Cornerstone (1979, I can listen to this album without skipping a track. "First Time" & "Babe" my 2 favorite Styx ballads Deep Purple - The Battle Rages On (1993, again I can listen to this album without skipping a song) Black Sabbath - Never Say Die (1978, never understood the hate this album gets. Songs like "Junior's Eyes" are killer) Van Halen - Balance (1995, There are some kick ass songs here. Yeah I don't care much for "Can't Stop Loving You".) I rank it 2nd to only to 5150 for Van Hagar albums ELO - Discovery (1979, I agree with you Pete) I've loved this album since it was released when I was 9 Ted Nugent - Little Miss Dangerous (1986, I just think it has a few more good songs than it's given credit for) AC⚡DC - Rock Or Bust (2014, this album rocks all the way through!)
Hey, Gary... Interesting list you compiled here!... I agree with It's Hard(a downright excellent album that needs to be revisited and reassessed by Who fans which tend to easily dismiss it!) and The Long Run(a good---probably not great----album that couldn't possibly contend with the masterpiece Hotel California, and rightfully had to explore new musical terrain)... I disagree with Dirty Work, however---after a promising start with One Hit To The Body, I think it tends to fall apart from there(no disrespect to you!)...Special shout out to Never Say Die, the "little album that could" - - - - a very solid and rather surprisingly experimental album from Sabbath ..... Take Care, Ghostrider Rick
I've loved Journey's Eclipse since the day it came out. I also love Deep Purple's Slaves and Masters. I never understood the hate for it, especially from Rainbow fans. The Cut Runs Deep is such a killer track. My pick for this debate would be the Eagles' Long Road Out of Eden. I love most of the songs, which is quite rare for a double album, but the first disc especially is packed full of classic Eagles-sounding tracks. I never understood why so many people don't like it (or haven't bothered with it) as for me there are so many memorable songs on it.
Pete, I'm one of the few people who loved _Club Ninja_ when it came out and still do. When ranking BOC's albums, I usually put it in the middle of the pack...in other words, ahead of albums that have garnered more praise. All bands change over time (or at least, they should), and I thought it was a fine release, all things considered.
From wiki: At the time of release, Thirteen received mostly negative reviews. Music critic Robert Christgau gave it a "neither" rating, indicating that an album "may impress once or twice with consistent craft or an arresting track or two. Then it won't."[17] Spin denounced Teenage Fanclub for making "a fetish of smothering emotion under a blanket of stoic formalism."[18]
Voivod's 'angel rat' & Ministry's 'filth pig' (which now that i write them down, rat/pig, is there some hidden meaning here ?) and Corrosion o' Conformity's 'blind' - all were major gear shifts at the time, yet ones i personally had no problem appreciating...
I'm going to say it - Never Say Die!!! I like the jazzy numbers on this album especially the guitar pieces. Like all first side. Only downers on this album are Breakout and Swinging the Chain
I got news for ya Pete, Shure know Something and Magic Touch are "disco". I'll listen to Love Gun all the way through before I listen to one song from Dynasty, and I can't listen to Unmasked at all.

With you on Come taste the band, its a cool record.
could not have said it better!!!!!
Great album
Great album!!
Yeah. And Stormbringer. I like both of those much more than Burn.
I've never really understood the hate for Caress of Steel by Rush. It's probably my favourite album from them
For me, it's because of The Fountain of Lamneth. It's the only Rush song over 7 minutes I just can't get into. I love when YYNOT covers the "No One at the Bridge" part live, but that's about it.
Me too!!! Fantastic album!!!
I think only because it sandwiched in time between masterworks Fly By Night and 2112 is it underappreciated. But you are correct. It is terrific.
I really like the The Fountain Of Lamneth. I think it stands up to anything on the second side of 2112. Of course Geddy admits that they were probably high when they made Caress Of Steel and it marked a low point in their career, so Rush themselves had a negative opinion of that album, but I still enjoy it.
The least appealing song on CoS is “I Think I’m Going Bald”, but the rest of the album is awesome. One of my Rush faves as well - clearly underrated.
Rush - Hold your fire, I love it and everyone I know hates it. Recently listened to it again and still love it.
Good album, some nice deep cuts there: Open Secrets, Prime Mover, Turn The Page... NOT Tai Shan.
I like it, too, though it took me over 30 years to get there.
Totally agree
Agree! Prime Mover is in my top 5 Rush songs
Black Sabbath: Never Say Die
LOVE that album, you all can shove it.
Totally agree, my faves of that album are "Johnny Blade", "A hard road" and
"Junior's Eyes"
love that album
Over to you. Love it.
Love the album too
Actually one of my fave sabbath albums along with technical ecstasy, love Rick wakeman's keyboards to.
1- Saga : The Beginner Guide to Throwing Shapes
2- Todd Rundgren : Initiation (especially A Treatise on Cosmic Fire)
3- Dream Theater : Falling Into Infinity
4- Iron Maiden : No Prayer for the Dying
5- Deep Purple : Come Taste the Band
For me, the album that perfectly fits this category is Virtual XI by Iron Maiden. The Blaze era, I feel, is generally looked down upon simply because it is not Bruce Dickinson but Virtual XI is a loaded album. It has The Clansman, Educated Fool, Don't Look to the Eyes of a Stranger, and more on it. It is definitely worth the listen for sure and it really should be given a second chance.
Angel And The Gambler I enjoy a lot.
I feel Blaze is starting to fuse with them on that album whereas it felt like he was out of place on X Factor. Angel and the Gambler definitely sounds like Harris is writing music with more a feel for Bayley's unique style vs Bruce and agree it has gotten more hate than it deserves.
Thin Lizzy - Chinatown and Renegade. Snowy era is my absolute favorite, nothing wrong I can say about those 2 gems most people ignore.
Chinatown is one of my favourite Lizzy albums. Nice bluesy feel to the Lizzy albums he plays on.
I even love that "soft" one, "Nightlife" with that cool album cover(I mean, it's a bit out of their usual style, but the songwriting was great on most songs and I enjoyed it for what it was)
Totally agree ,Chinatown especially
I really like Renegade, but I have to mentally cleanse myself of my expectations first, based on the identity of the band.
Yeah, I don't like Chinatown, but Renegade is the best Lizzy record.
KISS - The Elder
Iron Maiden - No Prayer For The Dying
AC/DC - Fly On The Wall
Van Halen - Diver Down
Slayer - Undisputed Attitude
Not a Slayer fan, but I agree 100% on No Prayer for the Dying.
@@kforcer I could defend that album more if not for the dreadful "Bring you Daughter to the Slaughter"
@@bobfrapples1208 Yeah that song is super corny.
I really enjoy Fly on the Wall.
No prayer for the dying has some absolutely killer trax, mother russia, as good of an epic finisher as they ever done, and a must learn for any aspiring bass player
RUSH - Hold Your Fire... f*ckin love that album
For me it's Presto, in my top 3 Rush albums. Hold Your Fire is awesome too!
I also love Hold your Fire. No bad songs on it.
Me too! Hold Your Fire is totally underrated.
A masterpiece of heaviness and the title track is absolutely epic and unforgettable with those vocals soaring
If the mix wasn't so shitty it's a damn good album
Ever one seems to diss Never Say Die from Sabbath; but I love that album. 'Johnny Blade' is a kick-ass, in-your-face, rocker...I defy anyway to say otherwise!
Never Say Die has some great songs on it, I love the vibe of that album.
Johnny Blade (diabolic guitar by Iommi), Juniors Eyes, Shockwave, Over To You.
I love that and Technical Ecstasy. CSNY's American Dream is underrated as well. I have also heard friends diss Wishbone 4. Yet, it's a great album!
Load and Reload for sure. They're both really good and groovy albums!
Sweet- Off the Record. Brian’s last great vocal performance before he started to go down hill. Some great heavy songs and a good variety of other styles. Definitely worth a listen.
Completely agree that's a great Sweet album.
@@luckycharm4623 Yep...OFF THE RECORD is actually one of their best!
Love anything by The Sweet, except their 1st LP!!!
Quiet Riot "lll" - 1986. Superb album
Great pick! There is something about those two classy tunes “Twilight Hotel” and “Still of the Night.” Throw in the “The Wild and the Young” and “Main Attraction” and the others…a surprisingly good album!

LOVE BEACH LET'S GOO!!!
Yes - Scorps Savage Amusement is much better than I remember! It is more commercial minded but rocks harder than I originally thought. I need to get it again on disc! Peace and good list!
Video idea: Out of print albums that need to be reissued.
Amazing idea.. include some too that has some limited reissues like from Rock Candy that are out of print again
Iron Maiden: the 2-disc pre-'98 non-remastered/squashed pressings of the studio albums from the debut to FOTD! (or what the hell, make it the rest of them too!)
Those have been out of print for a *long* time and command pretty high prices on the 2nd hand market.
We know the reason why but… I’d love to have the Badlands catalogue reissued

Heritage by Opeth
My favourite 2010s Opeth Album and sometimes I even prefer it to some of the 90s and 00s Albums
And that says alot because Opeth is my favourite Band
Yes, I don’t get the hate for heritage, but maybe I’m biased because it was the first opeth album I bought and heard in its entirety.
My love for that album is tempered by that fact that Per was fired just before its release. Great choice.
Rush - "Hold Your Fire" (as others have mentioned) Geddy's bass playing on that album is amazing!
Pink Floyd - "Atom Heart Mother" (Gilmour solo on "Fat Old Sun" is a precursor to things to come on Meddle, Dark Side and beyond)
Yes - "Talk" - love 'State of Play'
Joe Satriani - "Engines of Creation" - certainly different but it's still Joe!
Engines Of Creation is fantastic.
Seventh Star by Black Sabbath is criminally underrated. Glenn Hughes was such a great fit for the sabbath sound.
Yeah, it's a good record.
GLENN!!! And Eternal Idol/Ray Gillen!!
I agree
I wouldn't say Hughes was a great fit for the Sabbath sound, as 'Seventh Star' for all intents & purposes was a Tony Iommi solo album in all but name. It's a cool record for what it is. Hughes' abilities were never in question, after all he is the "voice of rock". Iommi/Hughes proper follow-up sequel 'Fused' is well-worth checking out
I forgot about those two albums.
Yes - Talk
Deep Purple - Slaves and Masters
Dio - Master of the Moon
Black Sabbath - Tyr
Genesis - Calling all Stations
Calling all Stations, in particular, is an "unexpectedly" good album.
Tyr is GREAT. Does anyone hate that album? One of the best metal albums EVER.
I really like the Kiss album "Music From The Elder," which nobody seems to like.
Totally with you. It shows that Kiss are capable of a more mature sound. I’ve always liked it.
Same hear!!!
*Pink Floyd* - 'The Final Cut'
Over recent years it has become my favourite album by the band. I think perhaps it means more to a British audience, given the background of the Falklands war and the divisive premiership of Margaret Thatcher. It contains the finest lyrics Roger Waters ever penned {'Paranoid Eyes' is masterful) and also his most emotional singing.
*Led Zeppelin* - 'Presence'
It was always found in the bargain bins back in the day, but I think time has been really good to it. A fine, fine album which sees the band going back to basics on many songs. I've long described the sound as junkie rockabilly from Saturn.
*Queen* - 'Hot Space'
I didn't like it much at the time but about half of it has grown on me enormously, that is the Freddie-dominated dance tracks. I now adore disco music and love the fact that the band went down that road. To be honest I wish they'd done a whole record in that style. Freddie's singing is superb on those tunes, some of his best ever.
Agree on Final Cut!
I had a similar experience but with Adam Lambert fronting Queen at their last concert at The 02 , London
I was fortunate to see Queen 3 times during their career with Freddie Mercury so the bar had bern set very high !
Kiss - Psycho Circus
Styx - Kilroy Was Here
Pink Floyd - The Final Cut
Bay City Rollers - Greatest Hits
Air Supply - Greatest Hits
Bread - Greatest Hits
I didn't think people hated Psycho Circus. I just know most KISS fans hate Unmasked and Music from The Elder. I like all three of those albums though.
True very sucky albums
The X Factor by Iron Maiden is deeply affecting for me honestly, one of my Big 4 IM albums. Never got the hate for it (or any of the post-SSOASS Maiden albums)
My 2nd favorite album behind Piece Of Mind. People hate because they're close minded.
I love the Blaze albums and think he was much better in Maiden than the standard narrative says.

Pink Floyd- The Final Cut
The Beatles- Let It Be
The Who- It's Hard
UFO- Misdemeanor
Screaming Trees- Dust

People hated Dust??
@@davidl570 I was going to ask the same. Not contrarian at all, it is one of their strongest records if not their best.
_Let It Be_ was very much loved when it came out, if you were around at the time. Much later, it went through a period where it was popular to diss it, mostly because of Spector's production on some of the songs. It wasn't a problem for most fans when it was released.
Most Screaming Trees fans I’ve talked too say that Dust is a big step down from Sweet Oblivion.
@@tatedavis2016 Well................those fans need to get their hearing checked! Dust is on par with Sweet Oblivion, if not better!

Eloy: "Metromania" (1984) considered their worst, the album that broke up the band. My first (and favorite) Eloy album, I love it.
Yes: the entire '80s. Love "Drama," and I'm a huge Trevor Rabin fan ("90125" and "Big Generator")
Kiss: "Crazy Nights" (1987) I'm weird and far prefer '80s Kiss to '70s Kiss
UFO: "Making Contact" (1983) the Paul Chapman years get too much hate in general. People say this album sounds like the band is burned out, but I just don't hear it.
Thin Lizzy: "Chinatown" (1980) Killer album, another album that people say the band was burned out, Snowy White didn't fit, blah blah. But it ranks highly for me
Rush: everything from 1982-1993.
Saga: "Wildest Dreams" (1987) Their only straight pop album, a risk and a failure, but it bangs, for me
Black Sabbath: "Born Again" (1983) So fucking awful it's good. Heavy as shit, needs to be remixed but I rank it super high
Whitesnake: "Slip Of The Tongue" (1989) Shreddy hair metal is my favorite, and anything with Steve Vai gets my vote.
Final Cut - great album!
Great list!
final cut= my favorite pf album
I absolutely LOVE:
1. A Momentary Lapse of Reason (1987)
2. Seventh Star (1986) and Tony Martin era albums (1987-1995)
3. The House of Blue Light (1987) and Slaves and Masters (1990)
4. Calling All Stations (1997)
5. Made in Heaven (1995)
6. St. Anger (2003)
7. Point of Entry (1981), Turbo (1986), Ram It Down (1988), Jugulator (1997), and Demolition (2001)
8. Maiden albums of the 90s including the Blaze Bayley era
9. Powers Windows (1985) to Roll the Bones (1991)
I wish Power Windows to Roll the Bones albums got more love, especially Presto.
@@DannyBoi2112 That's one of my favorite albums from this period :)
@@kamranmalik8546 In my top 5 favourite RUSH albums
Wow, St. Anger! : )
Here's my five:-
Never Say Die - Black Sabbath
The Battle Rages On - Deep Purple
Turbo - Judas Priest
Savage Amusement - Scorpions
7800 Fahrenheit - Bon Jovi
👍
The Battle Rages On is really good. People need to revisit it.
Journey's "Eclipse" rocks!! It's a good album. I mean real good!
Lovely subject
My list :
Wishbone Ash : Raw to the bone
T.S.O.L : Strange Love
Iron Maiden : Fear of the dark
Saxon : Rock the nations
Twisted Sister : Come out and play
The two first I will fight for, the three last could be nostalgia reasons.
Rock the nations kicks ass
Iron maiden - the x factor
Deep purple - slaves and masters
The X-Factor is really good
I enjoyed listening to your picks. *Looking forward to ordering some books from Martin Popoff. Thank you guys for this video. All the dawn time.
🎤🎸🎵🥁
KISS - Crazy Nights
Judas Priest - Turbo
Pink Floyd - A Momentary Lapse of Reason
3 - To The Power of Three
Rush - Presto
Black Sabbath - Technical Ecstasy
The Kinks - Schoolboys In Disgrace
KISS - Crazy Nights
Metallica - Death Magnetic
Slayer - Diabolus in Musica
Great episode as usual, guys. Loved the Deep Purple discussion and you know, I never checked out Head First from Uriah Heep. Going to give that a listen.
Boston: third stage
Foreigner: unusual heat
Priest: turbo
Metallica: load
Bryan adams: into the fire
Oasis: be here now
Floyd: momentary lapse of reason
Rush: presto
Steven wilson: to the bone
Whitesnake: slip of the tounge
Top notch sucky albums lmao
Fear of the dark - Iron Maiden. The disparity between How much people hate it and how much i love it makes it my no.1 choice. Also a pretty big fan of No Prayer
No Prayer For the Dying. Maybe because it was my intro to Maiden so there is some sentimental nostalgia there, but still love it and think it blows Fear of the Dark (by far their worst, IMO) out of the water.
both albums are very solid in my opinion...... "Fear of the Dark" has a few songs I come back to almost constantly....... their weakest are those with Blaze, but even those had several good songs which I still like
BY FAR, their worst is Virtual IX. It’s not even close.
Imho the weakest album by Maiden are Dance of Death & A Matter Of Life And Death. I don't even own them and never will.
1) Miles Davis - On The Corner (1972)
2) Return To Forever - Musicmagic
3) Weather Report - Mr Gone
4) Mahavishnu Orchestra - Inner Worlds (1976)
5) Chicago - XIV (1980)
Metallica - Load (Their most underrated album, IMO and I think Re-Load is decent, but should have been an EP)
Judas Priest - Nostradamus (A bit bloated, but I appreciate the ambition and the title track kicks ass)
Slayer - Diabolus in Musica and Repentless (I think the latter isn't THAT bad)
Load yes!
Everybody loves Presence. For me it is stronger than houses of the Holy and Physical Graffiti.
It’s more consistent and more enjoyable from start to finish. Has a couple of their best songs with Achilles Last Stand and Tea for One.
Ozzy's ultimate sin is a great album.
Probably his best solo album
My 2 favorite speakers of great music! And honestly agree with every pick they had here and I am sorry Martin I forgot to add Abominog in my contrarian pick!
Black Sabbath - Never Say Die (sorry again, Pete :D)
Gentle Giant - Civilian (maybe a lot of people view this as a improvement after Giant For A Day, but it's still fairly disliked by many)
Pain of Salvation - Scarsick (oh god, how much sh*t was thrown to this when PoS released it. And I never got that, it's as strong as their classic albums)
Opeth - Heritage (for me that's a start of golden Opeth era. And many people to this day still can't overcome this change of style)
Steven Wilson - To The Bone (one of the best prog-pop albums I've ever listened, it still has all the qualities of every SW album)
Genesis - And Then There Were Three (really enjoyable album but hated by Gabriel-fan-snobs just because that's the same three guys who made all that poppy stuff some years later).
And the most funny choice for last:
Metallica - St. Anger (I just find this very original. Maybe it lacks some qualities of traditional Metallica sound and compositions, but that album was a brave and interesting statement... and I really like it).
Civilian is a great album. Very underrated.
Great video gentlemen!! Completely agree about Fozzy, massively underrated!
Here's mine...
Paradise lost - one second
Iron maiden - X factor
Rainbow - down to earth
Red hot chili peppers - one hot minute
REM - Out of Time
X-Factor and One Second are in my top five favorite albums of all time.
Martin, over the years Gamma 3 has become one of my favorite albums from the 80s…nice choice.
Love what you said about VH3
Steve Perry is one of my absolute favourite singer, still I think Eclipse is an amazing record. Tottaly agree with you Pete.
I think Revelation is very good as well.
Your comments on Eclipse are spot on. People won’t give it a chance but man, they pulled out all the stops on that one, especially Neil.
Plus all those tracks are AMAZING live. 100% with you.
i agree, but for me its just the production. and the snare THE SNARE!!!
Black Sabbath - Technical Ecstasy
John Coltrane - Live in Japan 1966 (4 discs - 6 songs: about as "out there" as jazz ever got IMO)
King Crimson - Lizard
Guided by Voices - Earthquake Glue
Jethro Tull - Too Old to Rock and Roll
Flaming Lips - Zaireeka
Pavement - Westing (By Musket and Sextant)
I wholeheartedly agree with you.... Out of the entire Ozzy Era releases, I think that Technical had aged the best!... It has a tight, modern sound(ex: Back Street Kid, All Moving Parts) and has shot up the ladder of my favorite Sabbath albums(to my surprise!)... A simply terrific album that needs more love than it gets... Take Care, Ghostrider Rick
ELO's "Discovery" is one of their best. ELO does terrific disco. Even the title suggests it. Disco...very. Flip it and you get "Very disco."
The bass in Shine A Little Love is brilliant.
Thanks for turning me on to Eclipse by Journey. It's rocking!
Rich ward is so talented . Love his solo work as well.
Stuck Mojo are awesome.
Slaves And Masters is an amazing record! one of my favorite DP rekkid!!!
Love that album. I’m a huge JLT fan. Love most of his stuff!
Power Windows - RUSH
Hear from the Now Frontier - Queensryche
Stiff Upper Lip - AC/DC
Slang - Def Leppard
Native Tongue - Poison
Psycho Circus - Kiss
Lost Highway - Bon Jovi
Blow up Your video - AC/DC
Dysfunctional - Dokken
Slang is a good album, such a different feel for DL. I really like New Satellite Blues off Stiff Upper Lip.
1. Spinal Tap - Smell the Glove
2. Spinal Tap - Brain Hammer
3. Spinal Tap - Intravenous de Milo
4. Spinal Tap - The Sun Never Sweats
5. Spinal Tap - Shark Sandwich
I thought the Shite Album was pretty good too.
Heh heh.
@@Justin_Kipper yeah it was a rocking album. Too bad that Marty DiBergi had to go and sabotage their '84 U.S. tour.
Good call on Club Ninja!
Iron Maiden - X Factor
Metallica - Load
Fish - A Feast of Consequences
Marillion - Holidays in Eden
King Crimson - The ConstruKction of Light
Dream Theater - The Astonishing
Load is Metallica’s stoner rock magnum opus. Re-Load sucks but Load is damn near perfect.
@@dustyjoe71 Reload still has some good tracks. Both albums condensed into one would make a killer record
The Astonishing was my top pick. I have all of Dream Theaters albums and it’s the album I go back and the most often.
Virtual XI-Iron Maiden
The Deed is Done-Molly Hatchet
Devil's Canyon-Molly Hatchet
Silent Reign of Heroes-Molly Hatchet (the McCormack era of the band is really underrated.)
March or Die-Motorhead
Special Forces-Alice Cooper
Slaves & Masters-Deep Purple
Iron Maiden-No Prayer For The Dying
Rush-Hold Your Fire
Fates Warning-Night On Brocken
Dream Theater-When Day and Dream Unite
Saxon-Crusader
Pantera-Projects In The Jungle
No Prayer is awesome, I listen to it all the time, much more than any of the classic era records. Gers is amazing.
Loved Hold Your Fire, never understand why people hate on this
Really like Rush hold your fire 🔥
Some albums I thought of are:
No World Order - Todd Rundgren (it's got a bad review, but I like it quite much).
To The Hilt - Golden Earring (their most symphonic imho)
Camel's last albums (people generally prefer their early work, but I am a fan of the later).
Calling all stations - Genesis
Incantations - Mike Oldfield
(not that bad, but for me a favorite)
Oh, and I'm a Bananas fan from DP
I can’t speak to all of these, but “No World Order” by Todd Rundgren has kept me good company over the years. A great listen, top to bottom.
Being 16, partying & seeing the Priest/Dokken show summer '86)
Genesis - Invisible Touch (1986, I've read numerous reviews trashing this record). I like all the songs on this album & apparently so did a couple million other people
Ozzy Osbourne - The Ultimate Sin (1986). Mostly I've just heard Ozzy himself say he hates the production on this album. Whatever I love every song on this album
Eagles - The Long Run (1979, I've never quite understood the beating this album takes). I think it's probably my favorite Eagles album. I never skip any song when I listen to it
Rolling Stones - Dirty Work (1986, far from my favorite Stones album but I think it's better than about 3 or 4 other albums of theirs)
Twisted Sister - Love Is For Suckers (1987, this is certainly better than their previous album "Come Out And Play". Some heavy rockers on here like "Wake Up The Sleeping Giant"
Yes - 90125 (1983, haven't heard alot of hate for this album but it's never ranked above any of their 70's albums). This is my favorite Yes album
The Who - It's Hard (1982, I can actually listen to this entire album without skipping any tracks)
Led Zeppelin -In Through The Out Door (1979, except for "Hot Dog" I really like every song on this album)
Styx - Cornerstone (1979, I can listen to this album without skipping a track. "First Time" & "Babe" my 2 favorite Styx ballads
Deep Purple - The Battle Rages On (1993, again I can listen to this album without skipping a song)
Black Sabbath - Never Say Die (1978, never understood the hate this album gets. Songs like "Junior's Eyes" are killer)
Van Halen - Balance (1995, There are some kick ass songs here. Yeah I don't care much for "Can't Stop Loving You".) I rank it 2nd to only to 5150 for Van Hagar albums
ELO - Discovery (1979, I agree with you Pete) I've loved this album since it was released when I was 9
Ted Nugent - Little Miss Dangerous (1986, I just think it has a few more good songs than it's given credit for)
AC⚡DC - Rock Or Bust (2014, this album rocks all the way through!)
Pete you're right, i love Journey's Eclipse!!!!
I still think people won't accept Arnel because he's Filipino. I wish he had fronted Van Halen.
@@jaysonraphaelmurdock8812 i very like Hagar's Halen albums, and i don't like DLR albums. Balance is my fav VH album.
I never had a problem with Risk by Megadeth. And I love all the John Bush era Anthrax albums.
Bush is fantastic with anthrax
Pete, I'm one of the few people who loved _Club Ninja_ when it came out and still do. When ranking BOC's albums, I usually put it in the middle of the pack...in other words, ahead of albums that have garnered more praise. All bands change over time (or at least, they should), and I thought it was a fine release, all things considered.
Perfect Water would easily be in my top ten BOC songs.
@@adamcauldwell6776 It's a great song, and so is the album closer, "Madness to the Method".
Velvet Underground - "Squeeze"
KISS - "The Elder"
Checquered Past - Checquered Past
I have never met anyone who liked “The Elder” … you’re a fan, sir.
Never met anyone that didn’t like 13 and I’ve been to more Fannies gigs over the years than I’ve had hot dinners 🤔
Squeeze is a damn masterspiece, featuring Ian Paice.
@@snapcracklenpop821 Oh, the critics were burtal. I remember well.
Never Say Die is a wonderful record.
I got news for ya Pete, Shure know Something and Magic Touch are "disco". I'll listen to Love Gun all the way through before I listen to one song from Dynasty, and I can't listen to Unmasked at all.
