The seeds of Inducer were sown in late 2000. Guitarist Joshua Buma had struggled for months to find the right musicians for his new project when 17 year-old drummer prodigy Brett Worsdale responded to his ad in the Recycler. They immediately clicked while jamming out covers of their favorite bands, and continued their search for a bass player and vocalist.
They found their bass player in none other than Joe Guerra, who had played guitar in Joshua’s previous band Samsara and was eager for something new. The trio set to work creating the musical framework for their new band and then began their search for a vocalist who could provide the emotion and intensity that the new music required.
Enter Singer Rich Pineda. Rich had sung for notable Los Angeles bands like Mr. Bill and Agrokulcher and was looking for a new project that would better suit his vocal style. He responded to the band’s ad in the Recycler. Their first meeting was a sit down jam session in late December of 2000 which immediately resulted in the songs “Fade Away” and “Beneath”. The band worked tirelessly from that point on, rehearsing constantly and writing new material. They played their first show at the world famous Roxy Theatre on February 6th, 2001, less than 2 months after the band had formed. More shows soon followed at such popular clubs like The Whiskey and The Coconut Teaser. After playing a show in front of about 1000 people at a Battle of the Bands in late 2001 where they received an amazing response, Inducer took a short break and began working on the songs and arrangements for their first Independent album “Suburban Mafia”, which was released in June of 2002. After completing the CD, the band quickly distributed copies to friends and fans alike, as well as other musicians from the local Hollywood scene. Response was immediate, as the songs stuck in the minds of anyone who happened to hear the disc.
Later that December, the band recruited drummer Larry Katz after Brett Worsdale no longer fit with the direction the band wished to go. Larry’s hard driving rhythms and emotional intensity made him a perfect fit. The band then went into the studio to record their next demo with the intention of shopping it to interested labels. Inducer are now ready to take on the world. With a new CD, a new member, and a drive and passion that exists in few other bands today, nothing can stop them. Come see Inducer at a club near you. You won’t regret it.
