You were curious about the new Peter Parker face thing, right? It's Spider-Man Remastered that better illustrates the problem. The previous actor did the live facial capture for the PS4 version and his performance is markedly better. They tossed it out for the Ps5 version and the emotional moments don't hit as hard. I hope it's a technical hiccup, but it may be the case that Yuri Lowenthal, while talented, isn't the best at acting with visible emotion. So it's not even the different face that's the issue, it is just that the change is providing inferior results. I say go for a third face if need be.
I don't get this argument that the game doesn't look "next gen enough" been able to play the game at double the frame rate, fast loading and RT are things that the PS4 version can't do. That makes it worth getting it on PS5. And I imagine it'll be the same for Horizon Forbidden West and God of War Ragnarok
Because... it doesn't, lol. It's literally just a PS4 game with 60fps and sharper details. That doesn't justify calling it a next-gen experience at all, it's like saying Black Flag on the PS4 was a next-gen experience because the water looked nicer than on the PS3 version, ridiculous argument. The PS5 is capable of so much more than that, as evidenced by Demon's Souls and even Rift Apart, same studio as Morales.
The only thing i didn't enjoy was how unreasonable Phin was being at the end, like Miles is like family to her, when he had very valid reasons for him to be heard, Doc Octopus was better than her but i will say her boss fight is more fun in terms of gameplay.
I disagree and while I can see where you're coming from. Miles gave up those valid reasons when he lied and indirectly got her kidnapped. Family isn't supposed to lie to each other especially when they are traumatized from losing their brother
@@WithoutFear804 I agree but I honestly don't get where the revenge comes from. Ik if I wanted revenge I would had went after krieger himself and tried to kill him. It's moreso she wanted to prevent him from perverting her brothers work and save the city from getting sick or dying from him.
@Xbox One well idk if you know this but roxxon the company distanced themselves from him when he got caught so they're still out there run by whatever ceo is in charge. So I don't think he's getting out any time soon and yea spiderman doesn't kill
I'm kind of disappointed in this one, man. There are a lot of points where you say that you're not sure if something was brought up in the dialog and I knew the answers all off the top of my head despite having played this at launch and not since. It feels like you weren't paying very much attention, really. I can understand if you just didn't vibe with the story of this one, but you feel particularly nitpicky and dismissive this time around, which is a shame. Also disappointed that you talked very little about the mechanical improvements. while there is a lot of carryover from the first game, there were quite a few notable improvements that it seems you just waved away because you didn't jive with the venom mechanic very much. Is this a perfect game? No. But I I get the impression that you got bored partway through and stopped paying as much attention to the game or started to actively look for things to be negative about. For example: It seems that you think Phin wants to get back at Roxxon just because Krieger let her brother die, but you're disregarding that she is well aware of the coverup that Nuform appears to be very dangerous and gives people cancer or something similar since her brother was dying.
I absolutely agree with you. Definitely nitpicky and dismissive. Some of the comments make no sense. Especially when he said it doesn’t make sense to put a prison in the city. This is a super normal thing, unfortunately. There are prisons and jails literally in major cities. In Canyon City Colorado, there is a prison right in the middle of the city. For people that don’t work remote, you’ll likely pass it every single day on your way. That’s just one of so many other things. I really hope that this review does not persuade people who haven’t played it not to. It’s not perfect but it is damn near a masterpiece in my opinion.
Imho I think his critiques have had less attention paid to them. I recently watched his uncharted 3 video and it was full of errors that he used to never make.
@@winterspidey4133 not just that but he really only talks about the mainstream triple A shit and never branches out and who tf needs a 3 hour review on assassin's creed Valhalla like he's putting more work into it than the developers themselves did on the damn game he should put more time and effort into videos on games that deserve to be talked about not friggin assassin's creed I guess it's easy to sound smart when you just critique the same main stream bull shiiiieeet
Actually there is one prison outside of NY off the coast next to Manhattan.. It's called Rikers and is right in front of La Guardia between Queens and the Bronx.
To be frank, it'd be pretty stupid to put a 10 ton superbeing capable of turning whole city blocks to nothing but rubble, in a prison designed to contain rapist and simple murderers 😂 In other words, it's the Marvel Universe. You're gonna need multiple prisons.
Are people seriously mad about the game having the same map? I for one don’t care because i knew it’s more like a side story compared to Uncharted lost legacy, but also because i know they’re saving all the really cool stuff for Spider-man 2. If SM2 is a PS5 exclusive then i know for sure they’ll expand the map by adding at least 2 more islands, a whole bunch of new mechanics to the game, visuals that look better than rift apart, the black suit, new moves, improved swinging and web tricks, combat upgrades and way more. I can understand why people would be upset by this game but it’s amazing to see what they did while also working on Rift apart at the same time.
I'm not mad but I think open world Brooklyn would've been cool since that's where Miles is from. Insomniac had him move to Harlem in the game to explain why the same map is used. Hopefully 3rd game features additional boroughs
The issue with the face is that Peter isn’t supposed to look like a model or one of the “popular kids” he’s average in every way except for his intellect and his superpowers. The original face wasn’t super handsome and represented the everyday person.
When I saw Peter Parker was back when they Announced the game, I thought yeah he looks like a Peter Parker. The new guy looks odd, and I have gave it a lot of time and I still do not like the new look.
Nah, Pete hasn't been "average looking" since the early comics. He's a handsome guy and is also smart, but his problems come with him not being able to manage his time with being Peter and Spider-Man and his strict moral code.
No not really, Peter has always been an attractive guy really, Stan Lee even said he never saw Peter as some plain or ugly looking guy, he was attractive and even charming and flirty but a little awkward. The Raimi films are the reason we think he’s this average looking dork that can’t talk to women.
I think you hit the nail on the head as far as Phin goes. The story doesn't do much for you to feel connected to her, so when she does off the deep end she feels unsympathetic. Honestly when she died, my reaction was "she got what she deserved."
I tend to like collect-a-thons. I do tend to do them when they have rewards like the spiderman games do. It’s super cool to unlock a new suit when you finish finding these little trinkets.
"similar to Lost Legacy it does little to change up the formula" It's like people say it's a spin-off game, but don't ACTUALLY get what a smaller, spin-off title means smh.
Dear Luke, a really satisfying critique of an obviously quite exciting game. There has been just one thing I need to complain about and that's audio volume. Your audio volume is so low, I had to ramp up my main audio volume, which would have been ok for itself. But there are the ads in between that blast my ears. I'd really appreciate you taking this in consideration for videos to come. Thank you twinmama
Rio's platform is basically anti-gentrification, a real issue with older neighborhoods in large cities, combined with an objection to building a nuclear power plant (the whole Nuform plot functions, intended or not, as a metaphor for nuclear energy) in Harlem. You might argue that she's wrong about these things, but they are issues that are specific to the setting. The money comes from stashes the Underground found in Fisk Tower, which hasn't been taken over because, while abandoned, it still belongs to Fisk. My biggest quibble with the plot is destroying all of the reactors because Nuform and the reactors are making people sick. The solution to this isn't destroying the technology, it's to improve safety procedures. Exposure to the fuel source or being too close to the reactor or boiler being dangerous is true of every source of electrical generation that relies on fuel. Power plants are inherently dangerous places. Also, I don't accept Phin's redemption any more than Luke did. She's a terrorist fanatic who helped fix a problem she caused. That no more deserves redemption than, say, refusing to murder your own child redeems genocide.
I think it tweaked enough. From Mile’s AOE Venom powers and a more robust stealth system to how many more enemies there were (both in variety and in sheer number) to account for how OP they made you, its gameplay changes are comparable to some full on sequels.
@@jamesgratz4771 Which is identical to the previous games risk reward of healing v finisher moves, except venom attacks have replaced half of the gadgets and finisher moves no longer come at the cost of healing, and venom moves give you healing anyway, so it's not a risk reward, it's a saftey blanket to give you slightly better healing if you stuff up. And many more enemies? Just like you could take out an entire group in the overworld with a web bomb in an alley in the original, you just go into an encounter, spam venom moves and bypass combat entirely.
Neither Doctor Ock, nor Mr. Negative, in Spiderman PS4, were motivated by " More money!". They both wanted revenge against Osborn. The Vulture was, at least at present, motivated by curing his cancer. Electro was motivated by his quest to become pure energy. The Rhino was motivated by his desire to be free of his suit. Same with the Scorpion. Sure. The Shocker and Tombstone were motivated by $$$, but there was plenty of non cash motivation in that title.
@@daftbanna7202 They were ( unfortunately) explained in the scenes where Spidey discovers a hidden base of Otto''s and finds a bunch of equipment and some audio recordings., which explain the various ways Otto got the cooperation of the other members of the Sinister Six.
No, Scorpion wanted money. The tape about him in Ock's lair in the first game says that Mac has debts that he needs cleared, and Octavius promises to help him get rid of them. In the *comics*, he wants to be free of the suit, but not the game.
47:04 Arkham's Gargoyles were a bit more in-depth than that. Enemies will scream as batman drops them, drawing the attention of anybody nearby. Batman can also throw batarangs at the ropes to cut the incapacitated thugs down, allowing you to reuse the gargoyles. Of course the thugs hitting the floor will also make a sound, attracting guards if they are close enough. Fun stuff.
The problem that I have with the new model for Peter is just how young he looks now. The appeal of the PS4 game for me was that he was an older and more experienced Spider-Man that had been doing this for a while, and he looked like it. He looked older, he looked like he'd been doing this for about a decade and it was starting to take its toll and the stress was getting to him. But with this new model he looks younger than Miles does, He looks like he could be a high school senior or a college freshman, which both takes Away from the teacher aspect and the older and more experienced Spider-Man.
@@Blackhawk211 the irl face actually looked his age. You do realize people can be worn out and messy to the point they don’t look like their exact age, right? He just looks like a guy who’s been through enough. The new face makes him look younger with no stress to him as well as reminding most of us of Tom Holland which we don’t need.
The reason in my opinion for why the face change of Peter was a scandal was because this version of spider man was specifically meant to be an experienced older spider man who has been at this for many years and so making him look what appears like a high school student is in direct contrast to this being an older more seasoned hero
There's not much you can discuss about it really is there apart from the story. Anything you say about the gameplay has already been said in reviews of the first game.
@@azrael9578 well if your reason is related to their race and color, then you are one. Other than that any criticism taken as racist is crazy to me. For me the story felt too generic and mediocre.
2:08 I love how we lost an entire generation of load time games because of a patent, and with current gen games having lower load times we may never be able to see what would have happened if studios had the option.
@@r011ing_thunder6 Some games used to have little mini games to pass the time during loading screens, and I believe it was Namco a long time ago (could be wrong about the company) created a patent saying that that mechanic is exclusive to them going forward and no one else was allowed to use this mechanic in a game ever again, so no one ever did again for years. Abusive as hell for what a patent is supposed to be used for, not sure how anyone approved it
Phin is easily one of my least favorite villains of recent times. It’s just how hard they botched this already done and predictable revenge plot, and it’s so hard to sympathize with her when she seems like she’s actively ignoring the obvious dangers of what she’s doing
Any possible sympathy for her gets thrown out the window as soon as she starts causing destruction during that chase in the middle and her last moment redemption came across as forced, at that point at the climax it would’ve felt more believable if it’s shown she really has lost her way and too far gone. I don’t get why anyone finds her sympathetic
@@ryanhowe6543 what do you mean you are super wrong phins brother dies from nuform she wanted revenge so yeah I had sympathy for her I understood why she did the things she did in the game its like getting mad at Abby for killing Joel when he did kill her dad I felt sympathy for her like come on think smart Not dumb
@@tyleroutland435 bruh she literally shot missiles into buildings during a chase. Boo hoo, my brother died so everyone in the vicinity has to die too. @CJ P. No... The reality is that SM can really only work in Manhattan. I'm from NYC, so I get it. Despite Miles being from Brooklyn and Peter being from Queens, you can't set a SM game in any of the other boroughs, because *they lack the same level of verticality* you see in Manhattan. In many places it's downright flat. Remember that scene in SM Homecoming where Peter shoots out his web, it attaches to nothing, and he basically has to run on land for several minutes? Well that would be the whole game if it was set anywhere else outside of Manhattan. Granted, there are a couple of sections in each borough that they could use, but as a whole, there really isn't a ton for SM to do outside of Manhattan. Even in the comics, Miles is almost exclusively in Manhattan, as is Peter, because that's the only way it really works. A Spider on flat ground just ain't gonna cut it. It's just not dense enough and it's mostly 2-4 story structures that make up the rest of the city.
@@quiettimegaming3642 I don't think most of the people in the comments have ever been to NYC, let alone Brooklyn, but that doesn't stop them from acting like they know what they're talking about. Luke is a fool for this one because it's very clear he's never even google street viewed Brooklyn.
Phin has a lot of money because she raided Fisk’s hideouts and his treasures while he was in Jail, that’s why she has the resources to hire many mercenaries or gadgets.
There's a line when you go into Kingpin's Tower as Miles that there's a bunch of money/valuables stashed away that the feds didn't find so that's how the underground has been liquid enough to do all of the things.
I did enjoy Miles Morales a whole lot, especially since this game focused more on the “friendly neighbourhood” aspect of Spider-Man. That said, the game’s main villain and overall plot were pretty bland and boring.
A large corporation offering free anything, and exclusively first to a mostly minority neighborhood, is a red flag to most minorities in the U.S. So Rio Morales’ political platform makes some sense to us, it’s okay if you don’t get it. Corrected the name
Yeah, it was kind of weird for him to say a minority leader wouldn't know what was best for her neighbors and their culture/neighborhood. Not even mentioning the fact that she ends up being 100% correct about Roxxon.
@@4supergamma What he meant is that Mia Morales doesn’t have a good enough argument to justify her fight against Roxon. She is lucky that Roxon were actually evil, because if it was the opposite, they would see their goals fulfilled
@@thegwynbleidd4202 But still ... in real life there is literally no way something like that Roxxon power plant could happen in a majority minority community without a sizable number of people saying "There has to be a catch" even if there is no direct proof in this individual case, by the very fact that it is a majority minority community, there will be so many people with personal experience being screwed over that suspicion would be too easy to feed and even provably wrong suspicion would be understood as only natural if regrettable
Some of the takes here are really off. I like this guy's content generally but the nit picking was a bit much. To say that the venom powers didn't add much to the combat just isn't true. On PS5 the venom powers felt incredible with the haptic feedback and particle effects. The whole experience absolutely felt next gen to me.
Seriously, nothing in the original Spiderman PS4 felt similar to the venom powers. It’s hard to think that someone feels like that didn’t shake up the combat enough. I highly enjoyed using them on my PS5. I felt powerful.
Man I've loved all your reviews normally but not this one. You are overly critical and I pretty much disagree with every point you made. Just wanted to say. And if you don't feel like this is a next gen game you should play the PS4 version lmao. It's next gen in every way. Can hit a dynamic resolution of 4K with 60fps and ray tracing, has PS5 dualsense implementation, almost no loading screens (and the ones that do exist go extremely quickly) and overall it is clearly intended for the PS5 not the PS4. As for the map, of course it's going to be the same. It's New York, Spiderman's city. What did you expect, South Africa?
While I agree Morales's platform is not fully thought through, it's not an unreasonable representation. I think it alludes to redlining and the creation of the freeway system in the US beginning in the 1940s.
The reason I was a little upset about the character model change was because I really loved the first Spider-Man game, (for this franchise) and with that came a certain attachment to that character. This was the first game I played since the very late ps2/early ps3 days after I decided to try games out again. It was actually the reason why I chose to try playing games again. It made me realize just how much better the graphics and feel of gaming had become. So yeah, I was a bit upset that they essentially just threw one of my favorite gaming characters into the garbage as though, he wasn't even a little significant to some of us. That being said, I wasn't devastated like some people were. I'd rate my upset-ness at like a 4 out of 10. At the end of the day, it just really wasn't that deep for me. I have worse things to deal with than that on my spectrum of priorities.
I disagree what you said with venom it rlly spiced up the fights for me like I love leaping to enemy to enemy and throwing them off buildings or taking out an area of enemies by either launching them in the air or doing a ground pound idk just my thoughts 🤔
Maybe superhero plots aren't for him because I can't help but to feel he's nitpicking alot and missed the mark of most plot points. Alot of them was explained or didn't quite happen the way he said they did. With that said i respect his opinion. Just was expecting a more reasonable critique. He expects so much realism from a story about a guy with spider powers.
@@introduction1266 Superhero games/movies/comics doesnt need to be "non-reasonable" for the sake of plot. Look at Invinicible or The Boys, those are (somewhat) realistic looks at superhero world. And as i see, Insomniac tried to make those spiderman games more mature, so it would be logical, that the reasons of some characters would be same as in our world and would not obey to the plot of the game, or atleast try to make them fit the plot. I think the didint know what to with Fin - They wanted her to be threathening because she is kinda the main villain, but didnt want player to dislike her, but at the end it didnt land (maybe they didnt want her to be dislikable because she is black female and they would took alot of criticism if they made her dislikable i dont know). So i kinda agree with Luke.
@@YoungSweezy of course. I'm not saying they can't be critised and I'm sure if he picked apart every little thing (even the ones that have answers inside of the story mind you) in invincible and the boys. I would have the same reaction Luke was at he stated thinking about it too hard is his curse and I would hate to have that curse. It's simple. Phin is not evil like at all. I don't know why people expect that. She is an antagonist not a villain. There's a difference. She's trying to do the same thing as miles which is stop krieger who is the real villain but a different way. She almost comes over to side a few times as well but things got in the way. She was never supposed to be threatening because I doubt she would actually kill miles because it was obvious she still cared about him but it takes alot to keep miles down so she had make him stay down and stay out of her way by fighting him. I doubt anyone would take offense about a black female being disliked.
@@YoungSweezy key difference- those are inherently non traditional superhero stories purpose made to be different/subvert the methods and tropes of the traditional superhero story.
The two major gameplay improvements are invisibility in stealth and picking missions without hopping into the menu, whilst you're mid swing. Combat is a reskin. Venom powers replace the gadgets miles doesn't have. The main negative of the game is the side content. It was already tedious in the first game, butnit was good enough. Any sequel needed to improve upon it, not a literal copy paste.
what personally annoyed me with the whole face change situation is that he looks so young. Peter is supposed to be in his late twenties/ early thirties and looks younger than Miles who is a High School student or just started college.
@@adamunown i don't know exactly what age he is supposed to be but i always thought he was and looked like 27, but yeah I agree with you a mix would have been better.
@@adamunown the reason the face looked so much older was because hes been spiderman for like 9 years and the stress of all that responsibility and all that shows on his face. I'd agree though there needs to be a balance between the 2. Cause the new one looks like hes 12 not in his almost mid 20s
The underground didn't blow up the bridge on purpose so you can't really fault them for that. It was an accident that was kinda caused by both miles and the tinkerer if you think about it. Miles not being able to control his powers and tinkerer hitting him but not knowing this.
Except that it was their fault that they were carrying out an attack in a highly populated area , on a crowded bridge only a monumental idiot, or heartless @$$hole, would not consider the very real possibility that civilians would be injured/killed .

I remember playing this game a few months ago and being so surprised by how short it was lol I was literally shocked when it told me I was about to enter the final sequence lol
Canon City Prison in Canon City, Colorado is in the middle of the town. You drive past it going for Walmart... It’s a huge prison. We also have a jail in Denver right off of Smith Road. Again, very possible and realistic to a lot of people because it’s a thing. Lol.
Luke i highly recommend doing a critique/ analysis on a game called "Soma". Its a relatively short game but it really makes you think and question what it means to be human.
I’m sure you’ve heard this a 1000 times already, but The reason there was such an uproar over the new face was people grew attached to his original face, and for many people (mine included) it was kind of the definitive Peter Parker face. For me, it was summed up in a video I forgot the name of. Basically, he looked tired, worn down, and like he needs a break; It’s clear he’s been Spider-Man for awhile from how he looks and not just work. For others, He looks like a mix of all the pervious live action Spider-Men. And for the rest, he just fits Peter Parker more so than what we’ve seen before. Everyone has their own reasoning. But yeah, that’s why people had created such an uproar over his face
I actually really enjoyed this. I thought the reflections were brilliant and while you might not be aware of it all the time it definitely makes a big difference. I loved the new venom powers. Particularly thought the invisability added a new dimension and created a better stealth game which was definitely missing. It's a bit shorter than I would have liked but that's reflected in it's price. I'm actually curious in how they will go about Spider-Man 2 now. Taking away the venom powers will be a tough ask now. Maybe they'll do a character switch like GTA 5 did? Hopefully they'll get more creative with the side activities in the next one. It definitely needs more variation.
I have 3 major moments with the reflections.. One where I walked into the moms room only to see genke sitting at miles desk via her mirror, second when I got the digital mask suit and took a selfie and could see the phone in the reflection of the mask , third when phin and spiderman where at the rexxon building (still waring the digital mask suit) and I could see his reflection in the window even if he was like 5 m away from it
@@mullaoslo Spider-Man 2 is going to be crazy good from a graphics point of view. And seeing and reading everything that's available about, I'm more convinced you'll play as both Miles and Peter. I think it will probably be a switch at will process to start, then Pete gets the venom suit and be locked into Pete. You'll then be locked into Miles until he frees Peter after Pete turns bad. Then back to playing both. Will be interesting to see how they work Kraven into the story? Maybe Peter using the venom suit to take out Kraven? I really hope we see Mysterio and Hob Goblin this time. And I'm still a bit worried about the side content. Fingers crossed it's way more creative than the first one. It was criticised a lot, maybe the biggest criticism, in the first game so I'd be very surprised if Insomniac hasn't put a major amount of effort into it. I'm a big Spider-Man fan anyway, so even if it's on the same level as the first game I'm still gonna love it.

Outside doing new game plus and just swinging around town there isn't much reason to replay the games.. Giving the story some splits and mabye a few different endings would help that
Insomniac weren’t slick when they moved Miles from Brooklyn to Harlem, purely so they could reuse the original map. Hopefully the next game has other boroughs like Queens and Brooklyn. With the power of the PS5, it really should be possible.
yeah they clearly didn’t want to put the insane amount of time and effort into expanding the map into a playable brooklyn, i’m sure they’re saving it for the full sequel, but they AT LEAST should’ve expanded harlem, because it is INSULTINGLY TINY. even in the first game the way they cut off the island just a few blocks north of central park was really jarring.
Insomniac wasn't being slick. They wanted to test the waters with a Miles Morales focused game. What better way to do that than to reuse and refine assets from the original game and release it as a sort of pseudo expansion/spin off sequel? It's not like they were lazy and didn't put in a lot of resources into this game. It's in a myriad of ways, notably superior to 2018 spiderman.
@@princssnasty They literally reused the the Manhattan map layout from previous open world Spiderman games over the years. They just made it look infinitely more beautiful.
Honestly I'm torn because the other boroughs don't have anywhere near as many tall buildings so Insomniac would be putting in so much work for the other boroughs just for them to play worse.
One of JJJ’s podcasts let you know that after Fisk was arrested in the first game, the tower was intended to be torn down and would be torn down in the new year.
Also when miles reveals he knows phin is the tinkerer... Did they ever mention what she did to miles's mom?? No discussion of how she hurt her, disrupted her campaign? Did they ever think to acknowledge that ever happened?
God I really love this game, I finished my first 100% run two weeks ago and probably might do new game+ Collecting things are actually kinda fun in this game with the web slinging feature
I think another part of the reason for the new face is to make Peter actually look the age he is meant to me. Most people I know thought he was meant to be in his early thirties based on the face, but he's meant to be mid-twenties if I remember right.
To be fair, Peter lives a double life. He’ll look worn, stress, etc. People expecting him to be super model handsome when he’s just an average guy who’s secretly a superhero.
I was high when I played this game so the story to me felt like a movie and I really sympathize with finn while also rooting for miles in the end. 10/10 for me.
There is a prison ( Riker's Island) right off of Manhattan island. Its quite large( 400 acres) and full of inmates( an average daily population somewhere near TEN THOUSAND!!!).
Well to be fair, Rikers Island is right in the middle of the boroughs just between Bronx and Queens not geographically far from where the Raft would be.
I don’t think I’ve ever posted a comment on your videos but I think I need to say thank you for your content. It’s so helpful when I’m doing my assignments at home or just cooking or cleaning or even when I’m just playing on my PS5 it’s great
I think the reason why the change of face of model does not work because in the original game it is established peter has been spider man for a long time and is in his mid 20's . he faced a lot of trauma and hardship and somehow it shows on his body and face . this new peter does not look some one in his mid 20's he looks maybe one or two year younger than miles . its just does not work for me
Hey, I think there is no reason to "summarize" the whole plot of the game. I think many would appreciate if you were straightforward with your critique.
I’m an hour or two into the game and twenty minutes in I’m just like are you gonna just go through everything that happens in the whole game? In this case I should stop watching.
I feel like Phin wouldn’t have told miles that she was the tinkerer if he didn’t find out. She also indirectly got his mother with the attack on the rally.
I didn’t care so much that they swapped Peter’s face model, I just don’t like that they replaced him with a guy that looks like he’s 13 when Peter is supposed to be 23.
18:00 the #1 reason why the new face for Peter Parker is a big thing is because in Spider-Man PS4 Peter Parker looks like he's been Spider-Man for a while and you could tell by the bags under his eyes and the general look of him but the new face looks very young like Peter Parker is new to being Spider-Man and he doesn't look like he has been Spider-Man for a long time
I was kind of lucky because I didn’t play Spiderman until I bought a PS5 so I played Spider-Man first and then Miles morales and I ended up loving both games .
7:00 About the quick time events being a byproduct of big setpieces, we can look at uncharted games as an example of setpieces that still have you playing normally. Whether it's the crashing building in nepal in UC2, the plane scene in UC3, that one huge gunfight in UC4 with Sam right before you learn about Rafe and Alcazar (and the entirety of chapter 20 - No Escape), swimming away from the sinking ship, the convoy scenes/train scenes in UC2,3,4,LL, etc. they are like constantly moving environments where lots of stuff goes down but you are still given normal control of the player. This was apparently one of the important things to nail for the development of UC2 that has been ingrained into ND games.
@@introduction1266 Yeah the stuff Uncharted pulled off is no doubt impressive but those games are also 3rd person shooters at their core. In all of those set pieces you're either just shooting or running/parkour. Harder to pull off w characters who defy the laws of physics
Wow man I hope someone who hasn't played this game doesn't let your negative prospective stop them from playing this awesome game. Story is great, , I really hope people don't let this persuade them.
I understand your point regarding Simon Krieger but he never was the main antagonist to me. It was always Finn and her relationship with Miles was very well executed.
The thing that bothers me the most about Miles Morales is that they named his powers "Venom powers" despite the fact that one of the most well known Spidey villains is named Venom. They really couldn't come up with any other name for the powers? Will be interesting to see if they comment on that in the next game where they actually fight Venom. I have a feeling it will be ignored as if there's nothing weird about it at all.
Actually to correct you on your assessment of The Arkham Games at around the 47:27 mark, while yes the ability was op in the arkham series it made sense in the context of Batman & how he operates, but from the gameplay perspective it was op, and it didn't have a nerf with the gargoyles besides enemies shooting it down (which was easy to counter anyway just go on a different gargoyle), because the enemies you put on gargoyles in the arkham games you can cut them down using a batarang, and once that's finished that same gargoyle can be used to string up another enemy again & if you choose so again.
I bought the game for half the price then sold it and got 90% back of what I spent on it. It should cost only 10% of what I paid because the story is really that short. Also the story isn't that great. It's feels so rushed and mediocre.
Since Luke Brought it up I feel the need to ask because I just don't understand. What's the big issue with quick time events? They've never bothered me and I've been playing games since before they were even a thing.
@@ET-kv4ci That's only an apt complaint if the rest of the gameplay is shit. If they're in a game with good gameplay why does their inclusion suddenly become a bad thing? Better than just watching cutscenes if you ask me 🤷🏾♂
Miles Morales is a fantastic game featuring my favourite character of all time. Second is Peter third is Jin. This game is so fun and has a very great and emotional story that doesn’t overstay its welcome. The swinging is absolutely mind blowing and is a huge improvement of the swinging
The swinging is great and the combat is still fun, but the story is not. The story is filled with contrivances and terrible supporting characters, namely the villains who are all such badly written pieces of cardboard.
It seems like a lot of the story critiques relate to themes that the game seemed to try to develop. The Spider-Man app not contacting police, Miles stopping to save people on the way to the bomb, etc. could easily have been developed to reflect that Miles is looking out for the people who get hurt by larger forces that don't actually serve this community. Even the generic "save the neighborhood from free energy" campaign could be viewed with this perspective (though it would have been better if it demonstrated how putting the reactor in that neighborhood genuinely harmed people, as is often the case with these projects). Additionally, there may have been more to develop with Finn's actions when compared with Miles's arc. Both are about taking on larger forces using newfound power, and they demonstrate both the risk and responsibility that comes with choosing to use that power.

I wasnt notified you posted this :(

There’s a reason why the New York City Council voted to close Rikers down though.
I don't know, it seems like this guy is just kinda slow in a lot of ways.
Don't tell him about Alcatraz either🤫
I don't get this argument that the game doesn't look "next gen enough" been able to play the game at double the frame rate, fast loading and RT are things that the PS4 version can't do. That makes it worth getting it on PS5. And I imagine it'll be the same for Horizon Forbidden West and God of War Ragnarok
People just love to whine and cry.
Because... it doesn't, lol.

I disagree and while I can see where you're coming from. Miles gave up those valid reasons when he lied and indirectly got her kidnapped. Family isn't supposed to lie to each other especially when they are traumatized from losing their brother

@Xbox One well idk if you know this but roxxon the company distanced themselves from him when he got caught so they're still out there run by whatever ceo is in charge. So I don't think he's getting out any time soon and yea spiderman doesn't kill
@Xbox One i think they did that once and got a pleura of backlash from fans so I doubt they'll do it again

Actually there is one prison outside of NY off the coast next to Manhattan.. It's called Rikers and is right in front of La Guardia between Queens and the Bronx.
Except there is so his point kinda doesn't make sense.
To be frank, it'd be pretty stupid to put a 10 ton superbeing capable of turning whole city blocks to nothing but rubble, in a prison designed to contain rapist and simple murderers 😂
In other words, it's the Marvel Universe.

I can understand why people would be upset by this game but it’s amazing to see what they did while also working on Rift apart at the same time.
agreed the logic doesnt make sense, besides they covered NY with snow and more lights, that's good enough for me with a side story game
I'm not mad but I think open world Brooklyn would've been cool since that's where Miles is from. Insomniac had him move to Harlem in the game to explain why the same map is used. Hopefully 3rd game features additional boroughs
Damn this was spot on 🤣
Agreed... Spider-Man = NYC. I would rather have a repeated map with amazing detail than a poorly done "new" map.
But Rikers Island is a real prison at the exact same spot
I’m pretty sure he meant a prison with super villains in it next to a huge city like Arkham Asylum
You've never read a Spider-Man comic, have you?
Dude peters been a stud in the comics since the mid 1960s
I don’t get why anyone finds her sympathetic, especially the chase at the middle where she deliberately causes destruction and causes numerous deaths
She should’ve deserved jail lmfao. She said “fúck it imma just off myself so I ain’t arrested” 😂😂
I tend to like collect-a-thons. I do tend to do them when they have rewards like the spiderman games do. It’s super cool to unlock a new suit when you finish finding these little trinkets.

Dear Luke,
a really satisfying critique of an obviously quite exciting game.
The combat in the game is picture perfect. I like the risk reward of venom being connected to healing.

Peter getting his ass kicked in the first place to Rhino is weird. Someone that is basically a Jobber to Spiderman at this stage of his Career

@CJ P.

I expected Wakanda.
@@popcultureodyssey4459 Ah fair enough man you have me on that 😂
While I agree Morales's platform is not fully thought through, it's not an unreasonable representation. I think it alludes to redlining and the creation of the freeway system in the US beginning in the 1940s.
"you immediately know the answer tonthe puzzle upon looking at it" (immediately does something wrong)
This game didnt feel rush at all and i played it on my ps4 pro and ps5 and it still feel like next gen
The reason I was a little upset about the character model change was because I really loved the first Spider-Man game, (for this franchise) and with that came a certain attachment to that character. This was the first game I played since the very
late ps2/early ps3 days after I decided to try games out again.
He expects so much realism from a story about a guy with spider powers.
just helping you out, you put 'missed the missed the mark'
@@cheeto6057 thanks my guy
I would have the same reaction
Luke was at he stated thinking about it too hard is his curse and I would hate to have that curse.
What a Monday! Let's gooo
They did the Wandavision before Wandavision. "She is not evil, just a misguided domestic terrorist. "
what personally annoyed me with the whole face change situation is that he looks so young. Peter is supposed to be in his late twenties/ early thirties and looks younger than Miles who is a High School student or just started college.
Isn't he 23, I'm not a fan of his new model either but his old one made him look 40. What we need is a model that is a mix of the two.
@@adamunown i don't know exactly what age he is supposed to be but i always thought he was and looked like 27, but yeah I agree with you a mix would have been better.
@@trashxraccoon03 Pete is 23 but he should’ve kept the old model. It made him look stressed and more worn out over the 8 years he was Spider-Man
@@adamunown the reason the face looked so much older was because hes been spiderman for like 9 years and the stress of all that responsibility and all that shows on his face.
@@daverobson3084 lol it wasn't an attack. It was a distraction as it was stated inside the game. Hence why no one was supposed to get hurt and why the tinkerer wasn't there. "She does get an out and so does miles for making stupid decisions. Like uncle Aaron said "people make stupid decisions when it involves someone they care about " such a true statement in real life as well."
Nope. Not one bit. Nobody gets an out for endangering the public because they feel bad over their own loss. Phinn belonged in jail. She went about everything in a highly dangerous, irresponsible, and criminal manner.
They shouldn't of called her The Tinkerer, because she's a terribly written character and doesn't even resemble the motives or character direction of the villain.
Because the villain in the comics is lame lol all he does is make gadgets for other villains
@No. 1 Spidey-Fan yeaaa cause In a world where Space symbiotes exist and Goblins on hoverboards, making “profit” from designing weapons for other villains is “cool”. To each his own I guess

I just downloaded it hope it’s worth it👌
Pretty sure he already did a while ago
You do realize pete is the main character right? And the invisibility doesn't make stealth different, just way to easy.
@@ReadyPlayerDog will definitely play as both, mabye even venom in the "mj" missions.. I think you will be able to pick between the 2 when swinging in town doing side missions and then have different story missions for both.. Depending on whatever you pick it may affect the story or how the Misson turns out if both of them are present .. I think this will give the game a replayability the last 2 didn't have.. Outside doing new game plus and just swinging around town there isn't much reason to replay the games.. Giving the story some splits and mabye a few different endings would help that
How does Invisibility make stealth better? LOL literally makes it pointless to even do stealth which was already easy in the first place.
Insomniac weren’t slick when they moved Miles from Brooklyn to Harlem, purely so they could reuse the original map. Hopefully the next game has other boroughs like Queens and Brooklyn. With the power of the PS5, it really should be possible.
Lol I really want more boroughs
yeah they clearly didn’t want to put the insane amount of time and effort into expanding the map into a playable brooklyn, i’m sure they’re saving it for the full sequel, but they AT LEAST should’ve expanded harlem, because it is INSULTINGLY TINY. even in the first game the way they cut off the island just a few blocks north of central park was really jarring.
Is the audio kind of quiet for anyone else?
One of JJJ’s podcasts let you know that after Fisk was arrested in the first game, the tower was intended to be torn down and would be torn down in the new year.
Also when miles reveals he knows phin is the tinkerer... Did they ever mention what she did to miles's mom?? No discussion of how she hurt her, disrupted her campaign? Did they ever think to acknowledge that ever happened?
I’m upset with the new Spider-Man face because it’s supposed to be an older version of Spider-Man not somebody in their teens

Collecting things are actually kinda fun in this game with the web slinging feature
Pete is also spiderman and can web swing. What the hell do you mean "feature"? as if you couldn't do that in spiderman.
I think another part of the reason for the new face is to make Peter actually look the age he is meant to me. Most people I know thought he was meant to be in his early thirties based on the face, but he's meant to be mid-twenties if I remember right.

I’d like to see UA-camrs that always doing videos on games like this make they own game
