"I've righted my wrong" are words we don't hear nearly often enough. You made my day. Just by being a young person willing to say it. Thank you. Humanity may survive.
It’s an honour to be called a long-time subscriber for remembering the last version of this video. I fully intend to go out laughing, just like Rothwell.
I think William would have laughed at you having to re-film this one due to getting his name wrong. It seems like he was a great guy. I hope when I'm gone, someone like you finds some interesting tidbit about me, and shares it with the world like you've done with so many others.
Almost brought a tear to my eye hearing about the good doctor and his generosity. It would be so easy to take advantage of his generosity, but I would like to think that his acquaintances were ready to pay their way if Dr. Rothwell didn't exclaim his catchphrase. What a wonderful and unique headstone incorporating his catchphrase. Not only is he remembered for his generosity, but he will be forever remembered for his headstone, which will lead to learning about his life.
I LOVE your channel! This is what my now gone friend and I lived for. Every weekend we'd go to cemeteries, historical markers, have lunch and it was so much fun. I miss him. His name was Henry.
This made me smile and laugh when I saw it. Kudos, Henry...err uh.. William still making us laugh and smile after all this time. That Roth, er Rock... has served you Well.
Or why not build fart machine into the headstone with a timer and a speaker that randomly lets loose powered with a hi grade solar panel , and an endowment for it replacement into the future
I will likely never have a gravesite (I intent to be composted) but I suspect my joke would be 'I really throw myself into gardening' I respect and applaud anyone that can joke about death, particularly their own. Great stuff, keep it coming!
PS omg this is Bismarck!!! Right on! I’m obsessed with Mandan history right now! There are a lot of cemetery programs where your local museum reenacts a few ppl. It’s very very time consuming to find headstones that have publicly accessible stories about the people. If you want to be remembered for an extra century or 2, Don’t get yourself a fancy headstone, get an interesting one! And have a newspaper obituary, they are archived, and pay to either tell a story, or list achievements. My dad was an artist so his obituary is a resume really lol, so if he gets rediscovered & only the obituary is accessible, they have the story! He ended up being collected by a museum so his legacy is safe, but that was pure luck, even when you donate $20k of art, it’s hard to get an artist into a museum (it’s a very small one). Secure your loved ones’ legacy, leave a good story behind.
The world needs more modern-day runestones. Not large stones, but with more than just dates and names, with stories or adventures, or just some more elaborate little joke, that the deceased had had during their life. It would be quite interesting, even if it was just something otherwise mundane.
Some cemetaries don't allow stuff like that. My friend's father was buried in a catholic cemetary (they used a plot his parents bought years ago because they couldn't afford anything else) and still has no marker because the cemetary has strict rules about what can be on a headstone. One of them being that it has to have a cross on it, well, he was atheist. They wanted to put song lyrics from Dire Straits on it. Nope. There was a book of pre-approved embellishments. Everything they asked for was rejected (a fishing scene with ducks was one).
At least you didn't call him Dr. Chargagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg Rothwell. That'd be a double whammy and you'd need to do 2 apology videos, first for mispronouncing Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg again, and second for it not even being his name.
This is the most humorous headstone I've never seen! What a witty man who was also kind and generous. Who could ask for a better life, friend, and loving man than Dr. William P. Rothwell. Rock on, doc!! 🤘🙌
OMG! When I was a kid in San Francisco hanging out at my grandfathers fishing boat in fisherman’s wharf I would wander around the area and one of the places I would go because they let me in for free was the Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museum and the have or, at least had, a picture of this headstone.
I love these stories you share so much! Someday, I'll go down to the cemetery I grew up around and I'll share the story their little local legend. (Tho, fully recognizing that not EVERY story you cover is a legend, obviously. That's just the most interesting one I have to offer you!)
Excellent content man! Love hearing about local cemeteries. Got yelled at when I was in Pawtucket for calling it PAW-Tucket and not PUH-Tucket :) Maybe that was just one crazy local?
Forgive me if I'm wrong, but is this a re-upload? I swear I've seen this before. Still a fun story, always nice to see somethin' from you. Rock on, literally.
Played a bit of a joke by having people haul that boulder for the gravestone, lol. But in all seriousness its kinda wholesome to have something you grew up around as your resting place, a literal peice of home
Maybe now doc rothwells ghost will quit watching you while you sleep. You got any more of thos self guided tours planned? I think that was one of the coolest things youve done on this channel.
I see two business opportunities from this dead man and his tale. Custom unique gravestones await, lots of clever folks would like to leave a witty end. That cemeteries blacktop 👀
I love that idea! I want to be buried beneath an apple tree in a public park. I want hungry people to we able to eat those apples with my blessing. It's not all about ME.
…ok you have to bow to the commitment to the motto even in death, he made it mean something in multiple ways and make you shqke your head at the cleverness 😎
In addition - the bronze plate is the one which was next to the door of his office.
Getting his name wrong? That one's on you.
Well you certainly couldn't call this light humor 😉
it weighed heavy on him
👏🏻
You've mastered the "dad joke."
"I've righted my wrong" are words we don't hear nearly often enough. You made my day. Just by being a young person willing to say it. Thank you. Humanity may survive.
This man rocks
Oh damned! MVP comment! loooool Doc Rockwell still causing joy in 2024!
This man's rock

This corrected video is even boulder than the first, lovely as always
What a wonderful legacy to leave behind. Laughter is the best medicine and the doctor was writing one last prescription!

Until the end I’d just been wondering if there were multiple guys like that around in those days

I wondered why this felt so familiar lol
Thank you from Rhude Island. This is one of my all time favorite channels because it’s full of lost local treasures. Keep up the great work, bud!
You sir, Mr. Dime Store, are a national treasure. This content warms the soul.
When i die, im having them lower my casket onto 14 whoopie cushions

"Why not both?"
2:34 why am I so proud on myself that the joke clicked immediately
I love this man’s humor and kindness❤️🐝🤗

4:06 Don't worry it's on him.
Thank you for sharing his story.
This is on ME lmao

Loved the 1st time even better the 2nd time.
What an awesome thing to be known for
And now he made us smile!
Thank you.
always leave 'em laughing
Well played, Dr. Rothwell.
At least you didn't call him Dr. Chargagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg Rothwell. That'd be a double whammy and you'd need to do 2 apology videos, first for mispronouncing Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg again, and second for it not even being his name.
but his surname wasn’t Webster 😉😎
William seems like he was a helluva guy.
I loved this one. I don't know why, but the thought brought a tear to my eye
This is the most humorous headstone I've never seen! What a witty man who was also kind and generous. Who could ask for a better life, friend, and loving man than Dr. William P. Rothwell. Rock on, doc!! 🤘🙌
I love this channel more than almost anything else on youtube. Appreciate you bro. Sincerely.
You are forgiven. - J. Rothwell
He's laughing at your mistake. "This is on me." He succeeded in making me smile.
This gave me a good chuckle! Love a good sense of humor - from the good doctor, and yourself! Thanks!

its on you kid. good job.
Hope 'Henry Rothwell' isn't upset ! Where ever he is! 🤣
he’s laughing at the error weighing him down so much that he remade the video 🤣😎
Love the vids! New England has so many stories to uncover I'm so happy that someone takes the time to research them.
I love these stories you share so much! Someday, I'll go down to the cemetery I grew up around and I'll share the story their little local legend.
(Tho, fully recognizing that not EVERY story you cover is a legend, obviously. That's just the most interesting one I have to offer you!)
This one of the best channels
LOL! Thank you, Doctor!
Love the content! Thank you and keep it coming 🌻
Love videos about my home state! Keep up the great content!

Epic remake! I thought it sounded familiar, entertaining as always with the amazing stories 😊
Wholesomeness guaranteed

Excellent content man! Love hearing about local cemeteries. Got yelled at when I was in Pawtucket for calling it PAW-Tucket and not PUH-Tucket :) Maybe that was just one crazy local?
I got a smile off it.
This is super heartwarming. Which is something very different than heartworming but sounds the similar
To put a joke on your grave is bold, making it just a big un-cut rock is boulder
This guy rocks. I like seeing this content
One last dad joke for the road. LOL.
One thing is for sure, nobody has to worry about his headstone going missing.
What a great story, I hope I'm as cool as Dr. Rothwell when I'm dead
That's Heavy.
This guy deserves a netflix series.
You are the best!
What a legend. Spent a lifetime on one joke
Hah, should've seen the end coming but I didn't. Dr. Rothwell must've been a helluva guy to know.
Great video.
I knew i already saw that video !
I really liked your book guide video, can you do more?
Nice rock, too.
Forgive me if I'm wrong, but is this a re-upload? I swear I've seen this before. Still a fun story, always nice to see somethin' from you. Rock on, literally.
He noted at the end that he did it to correct the error of calling him by the wrong first name the previous time.
Best UA-camr.
is this a reupload? I feel like I've watched this video before, definitely knew this headstone
When you are an absolute legend...😂

Thats where you’re wrong Doctor - still made me cry 🥹
Maybe now doc rothwells ghost will quit watching you while you sleep. You got any more of thos self guided tours planned? I think that was one of the coolest things youve done on this channel.

A dad joke for the century.
I see two business opportunities from this dead man and his tale.

I love that idea! I want to be buried beneath an apple tree in a public park. I want hungry people to we able to eat those apples with my blessing. It's not all about ME.
Sounds like a good guy
Neat vid
You sound like Trevor Moore is he was a local historian and I am actually enjoying it more with that in mind.
Seems like a guy I had wanted to meet in life
Took me a second to get it.
you placed camera in position where tombstone looks like wallet or it really looks like wallet?
…ok you have to bow to the commitment to the motto even in death, he made it mean something in multiple ways and make you shqke your head at the cleverness 😎
is this a remake? oh you are explaining it as i type
What a G
