I'm enjoying this series! One easy lightbox is to use one of those plastic boxes many of us use to store 12 x 12 paper or projects. Turn on the flashlight from your phone and put it into the box - light up. Then you can tape your pattern onto the lid of the box and trace away. I've used this trick several times in the past when attending a seminar or traveling. Thanks for the inspiration.
I like your take on the title page with the appliques with pleats and all the fabric bits! I'm really enjoying this stitchery project! Thank you so much!
Great inspiration. Don't forget when stitching on multiple layers you don't have to stitch thru all layers- your stitches can float in between the layers, with the embroidery being on the top layer.
I love this, two years ago I had never heard of slow stitching. Thank-You so much! I’m very grateful for you, Sarah and your Mom doing this collaboration and sharing your talents. Im learning so much, and having such fun!
Oh my the page will be glorious. I love all the border and the leaf folds are a brilliant idea. I’m so glad you are able to work on something you really enjoy. Hugs. 👍🥰❤️
Almost finished my sampler pages so a title page is next and will fill in the days while we wait for January. Enjoying this project very much and have joined the facebook page to see everyone's work as I don't do instagram. Thanks Rachel and Sarah.
So inspirational ❤️ I have a lot to learn and a lot of catching up to do before Jan. 5. Things should slow down for me after Christmas. Can’t wait 🥰 I love how your title page is turning out❤️ Merry Christmas 🎄
Hi Rachel, the camera looks great. I can see the whole piece on screen and nice and clear! I'm going to start from behind but it is called "slow" stitching, hehe. Looking forward to getting started after Christmas 🎄 . Merry Christmas to you and Steph and Lulu 🎄☃️❄❤
Beautiful title page! I plan to do a title page but am still trying to figure out the design. This gives me lots of inspiration! I like the idea of incorporating fabric circles and leaves into it! And I never thought of couching the lettering! French knots are my nemesis! But I am getting the hang of them I think. I was wrapping the thread around the needle incorrectly I believe. Now I wrap it under and over then turn my piece to the side and then put it down through the fabric, holding it taught. I am have much more success this way! Last year, I gave up on them completely and did Colonial knots instead, just varying my thickness of thread.
I hadn’t thought about doing a front page. But, we may all be a bit anxious for Jan.! 🤪🤪 I don’t do social media so i’ll just follow the hashtags. You shouldn’t apologize for not going on f book, in my opinion. We should all be busy enough that we don’t need to, again, just my crazy opinion. Merry Christmas to you and your whole beautiful family!
I'm not very active on social media either. Even tho I can't stitch at the moment I have signed up for the Facebook group so I can be inspired by what others will be doing. Already I'm having a hard time keeping away from my needles and thread!
Thank you, Roxy! I'm feeling extra inspired now. I did some base work on my title page tonight. Need to decide on font for lettering before going on now..
I am enjoying this project. I haven’t done a cover page, but after seeing yours and Sara’s I am getting inspired. Rachel are you working on two fabrics plus the other things you are stitching. Thank you so much.😍💕🌴
Rachel, have you already imparted the story behind the name "Roxy's...." in a previous vid? Just wondering. You do beautiful work & I'm already incorporating the stitches I've learned into my pieces. I try to add one new stitch to each piece. Thank you for sharing. 🌈🙏💛🌈
Hi, the mat is called a wool ironing mat. You can find them on Amazon, different sizes and prices. ♥️♥️♥️ love what you are doing. I’m working on a video for my title page.
Hi Rachel! I have a couple of questions. If you could please answer for me, I would really appreciate it. I haven't been able to start my samplers yet. I am planning to start right after Christmas when my threads arrive. I think I can be finished with my sampler & on schedule by Jan. 5. I am new to slow stitching, and need information regarding types & sizes of needles to purchase. Do I need Milliners needles for stitching with threads or a different type, and Channel needles for stitching with silk ribbons? What sizes should I be looking for to purchase? Then with beads, do I need to get a Beading needle? Please reply. Thank you very much, in advance, for your guidance with this situation. I will check back on this post for your reply. Now on topic... Your title page is going to look awesome with your colorful fabric flowers & leaves all stitched in! That is a good idea, and you designed a nice layout! I can't wait to see it when it is finished! Thanks for this video Rachel! You are great! Happy Stitching! Samantha
I use no. 8 embroidery needles. You may need a few chenille needles for thicker threads. Millners needles are great for bullion knots as they are long. I don't use beading needles as i have some needles thin enough to go through most beads. Thank you so much!
I am a little curious how to do the book… I don’t have a book so was thinking of doing a concertina book but not sure how to put it all together. I didn’t leave much of a border for the joining together.. any ideas? I love watching and learning😊🪡
Ok....I have actually looked closer and watched and I think you did...but you call it "taking a tuck"....is that correct...anyway, it looks somewhat like needle turn.....wonderful...you make it look so easy!

I am so pleased youare getting the hang of them. Colonial knots look very similar so it's great you can do those. Thank you so much!
Wool is how they advertised it. They are indeed the cats 😻 meow.

A pilot frixon pen. Thank you so much!

Front title page idea " once upon a stitch" ....... last page idea " And she stitched Happily ever after " good? Or dum?
Brenda Jacobson, I will chime in & say... GOOD! Not dumb at all!
Seriously, I think that sounds great! I say Go for it!!
Great idea!
I love that idea. 😘
💕.....
What is couching?
At minutes 36.13 of this video ua-cam.com/video/8m4_WEt4e1Y/v-deo.html you can see what couching is.
