I came along 11 years after my sister. If it hadn't taken so long, I might have been named "Joaquin" because my folks knew and liked the name from watching him on TV.
The violin player Spade Cooley was sentenced to life in prison in 1961 for the murder of his second wife. Tragic story. On a lighter noted he had a dog named Spayed Koolie
The lady who becomes visible at around 0:17 -- is that Caroline Cotton? I saw her in one of the other Spade Cooley videos, but I'm not sure if the woman in this video is the same one.
The brunette sitting in the chair is Patricia McMahon. She was in Spade's band only for a short while, circa 1945. Joaquino still using his original Bigsby double 8, probably manufactured in late 1944.
@@johnstephen7610 She was. There is film of her with Spade on Shame On You, probably on UA-cam; and audio of Sweethearts Or Strangers; Pins and Needles In My Heart, Blue Skies, and Am I Blue. All with Joaquin. Carolina Cotton sang with Spade on film earlier than this. Search for "Ida Red" from the Bob Crosby film "The Singing Sheriff" circa September 1944 and "I Love To Yodel"; a "Soundie" from June 1944. Both with Joaquin. Both on UA-cam at one time.

I don't believe Spade tortured her or stopmed her to death. She got off lucky.

@@carllafong4791 Thanks for the info. Was she a singer with them? She doesn't do anything in this particular video.
