The hair is a little longer than Slick's was but it does seem like he is the most likely candidate, plus Slick did have more skills than the average clone. The only thing that could be in question is if Slick had sniper training, because that Clone, while not nearly on Crosshair's level, was a trained sniper.
A lot of time has passed, he could have been trained off screen somewhere
Kix goes from no hair to regular clone haircut between S6E4 and S7E1 of the clone wars, so I don't think hair length is really that much of an indicator one way or the other.
A good class/course on being a sniper, combined with time, can make anyone into a more than adequate sniper in a years time or less. Plus Star Wars being Star Wars, equipment can have a lot to play as well.
Clones learn faster than normal people they could go from being normal infantry to flying aircraft
I think hair length would grow and its very similar, also he probably got the extra training and I mean he already could do a lot
I'm not really sure how the ideology lines up. In that clone wars episode, he is essentially fighting for the freedom of the clones, because he sees them as being enslaved by the republic. Here, this assassin is literally fighting against the freedom of the clones, by eliminating anyone who fights for the clones (although that's not necessarily his motivation. It's just what we see him being told to do in this episode, and he seems fine with it).
yeah, they're completely opposite if anything - if this is actually Slick then there is a LOT of explaining to do. Where has he been all this time?
Perhaps slick did a 180 on "clone freedom" when his own brothers disregarded his ideology and garnered a grunch against his brothers.
He was most likely brainwashed and was training under the command of Rampart most likely.
I was halfway through typing the same thing when I saw your comment
Brainwashing
Slick was distinguishable from the other clones. Also Rex was just part of the 501st…I’m sure many clones who never served with Rex knows who he is
Knowing OF and knowing the person are not the same thing. Take him out of his distinctive armor and buzz his hair down, and he'd look like any of 1000 other clones without a face tattoo.
@@xxxlonewolf49 go back and watch the episode he’s in. His facial features are distinctive. Particularly his eyes. This clone in bad batch looks like any other clone. Sounds more like a want or wish by the OP
@@SpaceAcex Life & stress causes some changes, but they still all look alike. And when you only see a person in uniform and then seem them out of, the brain doesn't always recognize the person.
Personally, I think the clone is a Covert Ops clone.
I second that. It is the closest analogue to COs from Karen Traviss's books
Thing is. He seems to personally know who captain Rex is. I think Dave would add that in for a reason, we probably saw the same clone somewhere in the OG series.
Yup, this unit probably even existed during the Clone Wars doing the dirty work under the command of Palpatine. One of their task is probably hunting down rouge clones.
@@Commander_Thorn. There's nothing unusual about that. Capt Rex is well known among the clones..

brainwashing?
I remember these “assassin clones” where talked about in one of the republic commandos novels
The ones from the RC books were covert ops troopers, clone specifically trained to do the dirty work of the Republic like assassination, espionage, and especially hunting down clone deserters.
That was almost my immediate thought when I saw the clone assassin. It's possible he was approached while being jailed & was given an option as opposed to sitting rotting doing nothing.
But can we just point out for a quick second how amazing the animation has become since TCW first aired? 'Tis a beautiful thing.
I highly doubt it’s Slick, mostly because I’m pretty sure the kind of betrayal/treason he did would be a capital offense. Also, as others have said, Slick said he was fighting for the clones in TCW, and now he’s trying to assassinate clone advocates
mabye sidious read the report rex and cody made and chose to save slick from execution.
also slick was willing to kill rex and cody, so i dont think its that farfetched that he'd do the same under the empire. He was for clone rights, but he was willing to kill anyone that stood in his way, even other clones
Imagine if the clone was actually Dogma. Obviously, the two look very differently, so it’s not them, but that would have been one hell of a twist.
Well dogma’s tattoos would likely have been removed.
@@br61499 That’s true, however, I doubt this is dogma. If the writers wanted us to figure out who it was, I think they would have made it a bit more obvious
I wonder if we’re gonna finally get introduced to clone intelligence or clone assassin’s that would be cool
Right??
Rex and echo escape with Cody escaping the prison but Cody tells them
“There’s a secret chamber underground the prison”
Rex and echo break in!
There is chambers on the wall for humans
Echo wants to leave with his bad memories
Rex insists they find out what’s going on
Rex looks inside “it’s our brothers!”
Rex opens the first one
Out comes wolffe!
Rex tries to talk with him but wolffe stays silent and attacks!
Cody puts together that the empire must be brainwashing and enhancing the chips of the republics best soldiers!
They keep fighting till they stun wolffe
Then then to their best abilities and time lower the chips enhancements but there was nowhere to remove it
and then they here stormtroopers coming
They enter with shock and press the button all chambers unlock revealing the faces of the new assassins!
Dogma, bly, bacara, thire, doom, howzer, and they run but now the truth has been revealed!
Echo helps them get out and seals the door but now they are wanted
Then wolffe continues to do his duty with the others but keeps bouncing back between everything like tup but his chip isn’t broken.
How’s that for a concept story!
@@ctron2388 that be dope, but one problem there’s a scene in a trailer with one frame of Rex and Cody looking at something. Just put Cody with Rex and Echo in your concept and I think you are one to something
@@lightningleopard8877 probably right i just wasn’t sure wether Rex and Cody would see each other again. But this is a concept afterall
This Clone is definitely one of the first batch, like Rex, he also has the Wrinkles that Omega pointed out on Rex in season 1, but honestly, I like the Idea of Rex being know so well in the Grand Army of the Republic, that literally any clone could recognize him
I think something else that's not really being pointed out, is that the mystery clone has crow's feet just like rex, suggesting he's also an older clone.
Crows feet? Nvm just looked it up. My bad, wrinkling.
Underrated comment they wrinkles are a good give away
I thought it could have been fox but I’m not sure if that breaks cannon
@@colechristiansen79it does since fox was killed in a comic by Vader himself
@@JGburneraccount wrinkling specifically around the eyes, but I realized now that that terminology might not be near as common as I thought.
Rex would've recognized Slick by his demeanor and also; Slick didn't want clones to fight in the war. That was the whole reason he rebelled so why would he fight for the "other side"? I think the assassin was in the last batch of clones because it's canon that they were repurposed for other assignments. For example the Purge Troopers came from the last batch of clones. Perhaps the assassin was an early member of the Purge corps. We know the last batch has already left Kamino because the facilities were destroyed.
Ur def on to sum cuz that actually makes sense
@@kentrellproductions Lol you used short forms in 6 words. Took me a moment to realize what you were saying.
That’s exactly who I thought it was also! These two episodes felt like the best of the old clone wars series. I hope that it keeps going this way and getting better.
Something I noticed in the German version: Rampart was friendly to him in terms of beeing friends or knowing each other. He sayd Du to him (Du = You). The other clones are always addressed with Sie Wich is the more formal way. So they had some other connection. Idk if it's just misstranslated there since both du and sie are translatable with you in English but seemed intresting
Uhm, Slick had a military style haircut and reddish eyebrows - you could distinguish him from a generic clone
rex is very well known in the gar. not only was he the captain of the 501st which is definitely one of the most famous legions, especially after being the ones to storm the Jedi temple, but he's also the one who worked with anikin during the clone wars. the sniper knowing Rex could be an indication that he's 501st but it really does have to mean much with how known Rex is. also I really don't think slick is the type to bite a cyanide pill, he was way to concerned with keeping himself alive in his original arc.
I feel like if it was Slick they would have definitely made that clear in the episode
That’s my thinking as well. What’s the point In keeping who is he secret when he’s gone now? I don’t think we’re supposed to know who it is. This was more to reveal there are assassin clones in the empire.
I’m leaning towards it being dogma as opposed to slick
@@br61499 dogma has a face tattoo
@@br61499 he has no face tattoo.
@@hungryracoon5890 would have been removed
Rex is an uber famous war hero even non clones recognize him
Personally I don’t see Slick joining the empire, in The Clone Wars season 1 all he wanted was to be free, and this is definitely not the freedom he was looking for. Also, Slick has a slightly different haircut from the average reg, though he definitely could have changed his hairstyle like we saw with Kix
I really doubt that Slick was the sniper. If he thought the republic was bad for using the clones as a slave army, then he’d hate the empire, as the empire didn’t even allow individuality in their soldiers. Slick seems like the last clone I’d think of who would willingly work for the empire.
One thing you didn’t hit on and something I noticed and focused on was the hatred in the assassin’s voice when he said “Captain Rex” almost as if Rex was his nemesis, which would make sense considering Rex helped put Slick away, making him rot in prison for years with nothing but his hatred
People complained about the first couple episodes
Like the Martez sisters arc back in clone wars everyone called it “Filler”
Little would we realize that they’d reuse the spot in the last Bad Batch episode
No fillers would be BEYOND confusing
Imagine we never had the sisters arc and Rex just knew people off screen that owned a hangar in the underworld, I’d be pissed
But now it paid off by being brought back
Never call it filler, it can be now, but in a year, it’ll be important and necessary filler to the entire plot
Amen. Just because you don’t like the episode, doesn’t mean it’s filler.
Honestly, I don't think those Clone Wars episodes were worth a location description. It could have been abandoned, or Rex could have bought it. Filler isn't the problem, low quality episodes are.
@@JoelPerry1 but what’s the difference between filler and a bad episode???
@ryanm327 that's easy. Filler is a story that is separate from the main plot. An example is season 2 episode 4 of the Bad Batch. A bad episode is subjective, but it's an episode that isn't enjoyable. An example for me is the Martez sister arc in the Clone Wars.
@@JoelPerry1 but how does the Martinez arc relate to the main plot of TCW season 7?.
Not sure how many people notice but a lot of small things have been put into the Bad Batch and Mando from the Karen Travis books. I’m pretty sure I remember a mention of clone assassins in some the Republic Commando books.
The ones from the RC books were covert ops troopers, clone specifically trained to do the dirty work of the Republic like assassination, espionage, and especially hunting down clone deserters.
I feel like theres just not enough evidence to say he's Slick, his haircut is different but he could have had it grown out to be the standard clone cut. I just think that Rex was such a respected and distinguishable clone to all the other clones during the clone wars that they can all recognize him easily without a shadow of a doubt.
Thats was my thought too. The haircut is different. But this could be just a slip my editors
It's amazing how far the CW art style has improved since season 1
It’s possible, but slick even said that he loved his brothers. If it was him he was brainwashed. Hopefully we will have an episode where Rex finds out who it was.
Could very well be Slick. I'm still thinking that clones that don't start "thinking for themselves" may have their chips intensified(a la Crosshair) and rolled into the Death Trooper program. Pretty sure the first we see them is alongside Krennic in 13 BBY and this episode takes place in 19 BBY. Death Troopers could also use scrambling vocoders so no one recognizes the clone voice.
Rex know Slick, Rex didn't knew this clone assassin.
@@haroldcruz8550 Clones look alike
@@skeptic_lemon they still can still recognize each other. There is more to a person than the look.
@@Nathan-gm9nl well they didn't talk much, he could've had a couple guesses though. The clone was very much the silent type and refused to talk which could very well be attributed to Slick as well as the way he looked at Rex, but there are a couple million clones in existence.
Personally I believe it’s Slick as well. But I’m not too sure because based on what we see in Clone Wars, it looks like Slick has light brown eyebrows instead of the typical black.
They're clones.
Think Rex is blonde ? Think again it's called hydrogen peroxide. Some of the clones being blacker than others is tattoos btw. Don't know if you knew
But didn't Slick betray his Brothers so he could get his "freedom", why would he join the empire to kill clones??
I just presumed he was a random clone that had the same procedure crosshair did, who likely recognised Rex because the empire know exactly who Rex is and what he's up to, he just doesn't pose enough risk to them for them to act on it yet...or y'know Rex being the only blonde one does also make him pretty recognisable so this particular clone could well have been aware that Rex was AWOL and been made familiar with his face in relation to the clone desertions as a standard part of his assignment, due to the likelihood that Rex would be involved in them.
The thing I'm more interested in now is what Crosshair is gonna be up to, considering he's all about following orders, has seen numerous clones desert including the rest of his own squad, then saw Rampart, his boss who he knows follows orders get punished for doing so...fingers crossed there's some Crosshair heavy episodes coming up, because so far he's the most compelling character and he's barely appeared this season so far.
Rex doesn't need any identifying markings, his hair is his mark. There wasn’t that many blond clones with the rank of Captain.
I remember that episode as far as he was concerned the Clones were slaves and he was saying we're not slaves.
probably same goes for Dogma....hope to see him soon
oh yeah thats a good one. He would deff do anything if ordered to
I’m certain Dogma’s already on the way of being reconditioned, if Rex and Echo don’t get to him first before the Imperials!
In legends there were clone hunters for clone deserteurs why is it not one of them it just makes sense
*deserters
The way he said “Brother” reminded me of what they were talking about in that episode back then. He said he was doing this for the clones for his brothers but that also means he was killing those that were fighting too. Calling Rex brother was reminding him of what they talked about back then and why he did what he did so yeah it all came back to Rex and us as well.
I first thought that clone assassin was a sort of cyborg, it would show how the empire doesn’t care for them at all and would make disgusting changes to their own benefit
He kind of was a cyborg, he had that built in off switch, remember ?
@@herrnase4340 I just took that is a sort of cyanide capsule
Rex, much like Cody was very known in the clone army. Cody practically being the highest command and Rex someone who has won constant battle after battle alongside Anakin. So, this clone knowing who Rex is without his armor is practically an example on how much of a legend Rex is in the clone army. Heck even Senator Chuchi recognized him when his armor was covered up by his cloak.
i hope we see Dogma again at some point in this season
When I saw the thumbnail for this video my mind immediately went to Slick as well. This would be an interesting follow-up for that character. It would be even more interesting if this clone were part of a secret batch of clones made by Palpatine himself though.
I really doubt it. Pretty sure Rex could recognize Slick. Clones seem to be able to tell each other apart way better than others. Also, I think Slick would hate the Empire even more than the Republic and the jedi. With them, they were at least allowed to have a name and individuality, with the paint armor. With the empire, they make no attempt to hide that they view them as just a number, wanting them all to be the same, inside and out.
What is your feeling about Barriss Offee? Is she alive? Do you think we will see her down the road? Would love to see her in the Mando series or the Ashoka Tano series.
hes probably slick, I mean he looks just like slick and even has the same voice as him
the best episodes of the bad batch don't have omega in them. she reminds me of all my favorite tv shows growing up that ended because they added a child to the cast.
The thought of Slick possibly being the clone assassin never occured to me until I watched this video.
No one has yet to mention the fact that at the very bigeining of the Bad Batch, Tarkin sought ways to intensify the inhibitor chip. Maybe they found a way to do this and that is why the clone is "a believer."
Earlier in the episode when the clone name’s “Slip” is first mention, I had to replay it twice because I thought he said “Slick” …if it weren’t for that moment, I wouldn’t have thought the assassin was slick. I wonder if anybody else replayed that/if the creators intentionally put that there so we’d replay it
I want to believe it’s Slick but do you think Rampart would go out of his way to interview arrested clones, find Slick and just give him a job to kill his targets after spending months-years confined? That’s just me though
I dont think he needs to interwiev all of them. He has the reports on the arrests and slick is one of the only clones who actively kill or harm other troopers. Most clones only arrest or stun others if tpose are not traitors but slick happily provided info to lose the clones battles and ever blew up things. So i could see how Rampart just saw him as an ideal weapon.
Maybe i remember wrong but wasnt it like tarkin pr rampart that was interested in the bad batch or creating something similair?
@@abelboronkai448 if Rampart was just sitting at his desk thinking “hmm I need someone to silence clones that will snitch on me” then the first option would be Crosshair if he was thinking of clones, just seems like a lot of work to eventually recruit Slick who he has never heard of or seen. All we know about Slick was that he sold out his squad for money and potential freedom through Ventress. Doubt his arrest report would include too much detail as to why he did it. Slick wanted freedom for the clones, he would’ve ended up joining Rex’s efforts. If Rampart goes through all that effort, why not remove Dogma’s tattoos and use his blind loyalty
@@killhimnotme9129 they both hated clones and prefer conscripted soldiers, they wanted quantity but clones were too expensive to keep producing and takes years to mature. Recruits are ready to go in a few months with Clone Commando training theoretically
@@collegethrifter2840 Dogma is a good option too yes. And no i don t think its too much of a problem to go through files for Rampart. He needs someone who at the end can go silently if need be. Some prisoner dies noone cares. Also clones are hard to identify as seen. So its a good option and from that you can go with any clone you want let that be Dogma or Slick
This can’t be Slick because it doesn’t line up with his ideology. Slick is not a “believer.” In his eyes he’s fighting for freedom of the clones which is the exact opposite of Ranpart’s goals.
I think this episode may also be the first time Omega sees Admiral Pampart.
That's Slick, after the sound bites I have no doubt in my mind, that is Slick...
I actually thought the assassin was going to be crosshair as he was sniping the clones lol
The fact that it wasn't Crosshair probably means the imperium isn't trusting him anymore
BRO I WAS THINKING THE SAME THING. Bro I was whispering slick the whole video and then u said it and I said omg.
Very good thread unraveling, could very well be and all fits greatly for it to be. Timeline, plotwise, reasonable motive and all the more, scene to scene side by side. Add the helmet for the assassin style and it looks exactly like 'Slick' (ofcourse they are clones but you know what I mean!)
I thought this same thing immediately while watching this episode also I think Slip the clone the assassin killed in this his name could be a subtle/hidden hint to the assassin being slick as slip and slick both rhyme and as we known starwars should rhyme according to Lucas.
Yes, but actually no. It's not a rhyme by definition, it's just similar sounding words. Definition matters
As soon as I saw the Assassin, I could only say one thing "Long time no see, SLICK!"
i know it’s slick because they sound alike
I think people are thinking about this clone thing too much. It's either one of 2 things. A clone that everyone is trying to figure, that we've seen before or it's just showing the dark underbelly of the empire (and the republic with covert ops troopers who do the same job that this assassin was doing) and how clones can be so loyal and mindless to a degree for whatever cause they follow.
You could argue that some clones would know battle heroes and marshal commanders, so that's a possibility.
It goes with how clones can be bred so loyal and mindless to a degree, with not much room for free thought. Palpatine basically said the same thing himself.
Does he have a chip in or out? Who knows. It would be nice to see some clones who are just like crosshair, regardless of the chip. Plain badass and cold. Yes the chip made them 100% comply, but like Dogma, there would have been some clones who would follow orders, however hesitant they may be.
I think this is just an off the books covert ops clone/assassin who might have been doing this pre-empire and knows who Rex is because of notoriety by the time the war ended . He doesn't have a c number as well, which could be made cannon for covert ops clones, and if that isn't the case, the empire could wipe any identifiers away or do something I guess.
I do believe it's interesting though how he knew Rex was, so it's part of the fun to speculate. It would be really cool if this is a clone we've seen, however, I don't think it is. There are millions of clones, not every single one has to be a call back to something.
Bad batch is one of the best animated shows right next to the clone wars🔥🔥
It would make sense as Slick wanted freedom for his brothers and that’s what his actions would have caused
i was under the impression most rank and file clones were not unique and more subordinate, it was only certain ones like specialists, commandos, and commanders that were designed with more "freedom" and personality where these traits would be beneficial.
At first i was so scared the assassin was Cody but then i noticed he didn't have the scar
Or, hear me out, he’s a new clone that we’ve never seen. I know, hard to believe that there’s clones that we haven’t heard of but that’s the situation.
I really doubt that slick would kill his brothers cause in the clone wars he said he loved his brothers
Slick? The bomb squad guy? Nope, the forgotten traitor that blew my mind when i actually watched the video. Don't smoke weed, kids.
Considering that the Clone Bridge Officer on Rampart's Ship was named Slip, I'm led to think that it is Slick. Now I'm thinking of Dogma.
It would make sense. We didn't know what happened to Slick after he was caught. But then he wanted freedom, from servitude from,
Наверное ему промыли мозгом, как пятерка(файз Ст5555)пытались промыть мозгов в Камино
This definitely isn’t slick because the assassin had no “markings” and his ct number was wiped. Slick would probably still be in prison or probably dead. This definitely is a clone assassin or a covert ops being retconed.
He didn't mean identifiable markings, he meant their actual ID tags like the bar code in their wrists. It was shown with Gregor
It's not like there was a billion commanders in the GAR. Rex was a well known captain/commander due to his accomplishments while the clone leader of the 501st during the war. It's like questioning why a trooper would know who a very well known commanding officer is. Since he is some sort of special forces, it's not necessarily a tough sell to say that he can easily access anyone's file and probably found out that Rex had betrayed the Empire or his record in general. It can be a possibility, however the explanation makes no sense. Slick obviously looks different. If you put him in a room with 4 other clones from the bad batch (someone who looks like captain Wilco). Everyone will probably say he looks way different.
I feel like Slick would have been executed after he betrayed the Republic and that was earlier on in the Clone Wars
I deadass told myself that has to be Slick when they took off his helmet and it wasn’t Crosshair.
Part of me believes it's Slick. Other part of me thinks it's just a regular Clone Wars clone. Since Captain Rex is basically well-known throughout their ranks.
It's gotta be slick, looks and sounds just like him 😂
Filoni is great and all but my biggest criticism with these shows is that they’re always stunning people. People clearly trying to kill them also, like shows us lasers.
We need facial recognition to figure this out! I think we have the technology to decipher clones from one another ....! I gotta say they look alike !
I would’ve thought it was Cody. Because in a previous episode, Rampart claimed Cody went “AWOL” but I believe that it was just to be a cover up so he could be an assassin
At first at least
that sounds like an interesting idea but it seems like such a waste to a character like cody to have him go out this early in the way that this clone did
“He knew who one of the most famous and distinguished clones in the entire republic was!!! It has to be Slick!”
**insert brain dead meme**
This is such a stretch. The Clone knows Rex because they probably have a hit list on the rouge clones, and Rex is most likely at the top of it. Slick would hate the empire even more than the republic since the clones are being replaced and outsourced.
SLICK makes SO much sense eventhough his hair is longer than his
maybe slick is the one crosshair was assigned to work with
Would be cool if he was one of the direct clones of Jango like Alpha.
Slick is a possibility but so many troopers have served under Rex it really could be anyone of them.
I believe your right! Good call!!! 🙏🏽
0:38 at least unlike Book Of Boba, the episodes with the titular characters are actually good
I think what we’re seeing is the beginning of the Dark Trooper program. I seriously hope I’m right.
I just wanna note that SLick and this sniper are the only two or if they are the same than only one clone ever to kill other clones who are not traitors almost happily. We see that the bad batch and rex uses stunns still and most clones dont shoot those who dont follow orders. They just take them to costudy as seen in bb season 1 at the end. So thats a similarity to top tings off
Fox has no problem hunting down and killing Fives. Clones directly under the command of Palpatine are a lot more ruthless and a lot more obedient.

in the concept art for the clone wars episode spoken of in this video, Slick was supposed to have red hair this was changed because he would have stood out in the lunchroom when Rex and Cody walk in. So, in the beginning he did have some distinguishing features this was changed to confuse the viewer!
I thought it might be slick, but then I figured it was a Sparti Clone or something
Well, he’s definitely not Droidbait !! 😎
I think your right, that is "slick". Great observation.
Slick had same black hair, but his eyebrows was brown instead standard black. I think assassni is standard clone trained by Crosshair.
I really thought it was gonna turn out to be Boba Fett up until the point that he killed himself
I thought maybe it was the guard who shot 5s...
as those guards were with the emperor, and more likely to have been part of a grander plan, lied to of course, and like he said, "a believer", as in he was given something to believe in by the emperor.
as all regular clones would have had a problem with shooting their fellow clones. I realize Slick maybe fits this bill, I think he was either shot, or some other way eliminated as the Kaminones viewed them as property not people and would have just eliminated anything they deemed defective.
The only thing I find off is the color of the eyebrows. Slicks eyebrows are brown mean while the assassins are black. That's the only thing that makes me think that it may not be slick but who knows
it could be a first phase dark trooper, i think they used clones at first and it would explain why he seems so brainwashed
I very much doubt Slick would be part of the Empire.
Kaon here, Agreed, cuz he didn't even like the Republic and fed the CIS info
@@optimizeproductionsofficial I'd love see Slick again and somehow have him team up with Rex and see how they interact with each other. It wouldn't be pretty since what Slick did on Christophsis but it still would be interesting.
Not to mention on top of that slick betrayed the republic because of his brothers. He wanted to save his brothers, why would he betrayed them. It won’t make sense for slick to be hunting down clone troopers, but senators would make sense.
and in this universe, they can look at ppl and tell who they are, they have markings, he programmed to know rex, easy and done
