most important video of the year, thanks for sharing your experiences Jonas ❤
❤️
I am a student in your school😃
@@AdenFoyer Thank you very much for this , I’ve quit music for about five years now I graduated with degrees Music theory composition and Music education. As Musician you are trained to be perfect in a imperfect world almost like super human ( no mistakes). Even if you play 99% of the notes on the sheet you still had a handful of mistakes which is not acceptable. This caused many years of depression and Anxiety and finally I had reached a breaking point. Hopefully one day I can get back into music.
Thanks again !

@DEADBOT Music Yeah, believe me, I get..
Just as a lot of people, I had the worst time of my whole life during last year (not just because of covid, I also broke up with my ex which I was living with, etc..), I was lost musically and didn't know where to go. I was forcing myself to make some music that I wasn't even feeling. After some big talks with my management and they helped me a lot to find a new chapter, a new direction I would musically take and be confident on it. Gotta start doing some workout aswell though 😱 Really nice video Jonas :)
Wow man thanks for sharing!
You are here for miracles 😃
Thank you so much Retrovision for telling. I'm your fan from Peru
❤
you're a good guy. keep at it, really sorry to hear this. I'm more than sure you get through this.
Courage mon gars! This life is never easy but the positively we all bring to the table, make a difference for others ❤🙏
Couldn’t tell it any better Jonas ! Music industry is super tough and full of sharks ready to eat you if you don’t already weaken by yourself.

I've experienced anxiety and depression myself and I think that a lot of other artists can relate. Big respect to you for sharing your story man. I'm sure that this video can help others to get through tough times. Take care guys!

Take care Crunkz you have a big future infront of you! You inspire a lot more than you think!♥️
So helpful and relatable!!
Don't worry about Jonas quitting music, be glad that he is still doing it, and spreading positive energy to his community :>

Yes, you are right. We must not quit his song. He will makes his fans to make happy always. We love you Jones Aden.
More attention to this is always needed. Thanks a lot for this Jonas
Love you guys!
to all people that are depressed: It gets better, i was almost 3 years depressed and had suicidal thoughts but now i'm very happy with a lot of inspirition
How you happy now
Thank you for sharing
Just because it got better for you, doesn't mean that it will get better for everyone. I'm not trying to sound negative or anything, but just saying that it gets better doesn't help.
@@timmyblom2516 Not with that attitude lol
@@timmyblom2516 I gives you a bit of hope to keep going even if that sense of hope might not be completely true but it's way way better than living aimlessly with no hopes of getting better so ... Saying it gets better does give some people enough reasons to continue living
this is so awesome man thanks for speaking up on this. I’ve even planning on making a video about this subject too. You’re doing a lot for the community 💙
If Jonas stopped saying "but I'll shut up now", the world would end.

Sir, please never delete your old videos. Please sir plz plz 🥺🥺..
I had learnt a lot from your videos and I want to learn more from your videos plz never delete them sir plz 😢
One of the most stupid mistakes .. is when you start learning music .. and Start comparing your self with others .... When you start .. you are a beginner .. and when you make something it's not the best .. but still good for a beginner so you are amazing .. keep going .. keep improving .. and STOP COMPARING
If you're going to compare your work with another one, compare it to your first stuff instead, and see your own progress through the years/months/whatever... even better than comparing yourself to an artist that's been producing since like 10-15 years ago
@@DuskfoxOfficial 💗
@@EPsoundsEst2K17 this is exactly what I mean .. compare with the people in your age now .. even not comparing with artist's work when they were 14/15
@@DuskfoxOfficial yo happy bday :D

OMG he said "I won't shut up now." Something serious is up.
Your video helped me realize what I could not express in words;
I never went all in on DJing with my music because I could sense something was off with the lifestyle and that it wouldn't be healthy for me.
Basically what we all experience with the pressure to achieve and perform in any job, except on steroid because of the deadlines and public aspect.
Thanks for shining light on this!

i cant even save the project bcz im using demo version :(

Hey, Killigrew. Can you please give tips on How to make Money with music? What are the simple steps for someone who is seriously in production for 7 years and still is not able to make money? Diet and working out is important.
@@lbks16 Hi there, it's not really something you can plan. For me it was a lot of luck. I was one of the firstwho started to make Chillstep albums. I had a desired type of music in a community where it was really rare. Supply and demand. Basically make music that stands out and be extremely consistent. I have released 12 albums in 10 years. You have to get your music heard, by promoters, get the music out on Streaming platforms. I earn mostly through Spotify since I'm a solo artist without a label I don't have to split any royalties. Hope that helps! Basically, if your aim is to earn money through music I think it's difficult. I had no intention of earning anything. I just made it because it's my passion and I put it on Spotify as early as 2011 just for fun and tell my parents about it. Then someone put it in a giant playlist and it took off.
@@krisumusic Thanks for reply. Whoaw 12 albums, It's ~ 1 album per year. I saw your video, where you told that you need to make for someone in one day full song. They contacted you or did you look for them to contact? I am 27. You are around 28. I also had Idea to start something with music when I was 16. Maybe I have wrong intention to make money with music, but I am not asking too much xD Just something to put in sound card, pc ram , midi keyboard, etc. Do you do collaborations? Or it's not for you?
Alright, so we're doing this huh? I guess this is as good of a place as any to tell the story of why I DID quit music... and why I got back into it again.
I've been producing on and off for over 15 years now, I first dabbled in editing music on the computer when I was 9 years old and I've been doing it more or less since then. When the time came for me to choose what direction to focus on in school, I chose 3 years of music production. During school and after school was done, I tried to send my music to music labels, but was never good enough to get any deals. After a while I started my own company and started selling tracks to music libraries for the measly fee of $200/song. Yes, $200/song, and they wanted me to produce genres I didn't sign up for in the first place. Try making a living off that...
So anyway, I worked my absolute ass off selling music for next to nothing for 3-4 months before I got completely burned out to the point I never wanted to open FL Studio again. I felt completely burnt out, and like I wasted the previous 5 years for nothing. I got a job in tech support and didn't open any DAW for 2 years.
Since then I've dabbled once or twice a year, until 2020 and corona hit. In november last year I found this UA-cam channel, the music I heard in some of the videos of Jonas listening to demos from viewers was so inspiring, I decided to give it another shot. And I'm feeling really good about what I've been creating. I'm slowly working my way to an EP of some sort, but I can not go all in like I did in the past. Making a living to pay my bills still takes top priority and most of my time, if I make any money on music in the future it'll be from music I want to create, for the music itself. Not for the money.
At this point in time I'd like to say don't give up, it'll get better, all that, but truth be told, in this industry it doesn't for most artists. Don't make my mistake and make music JUST for the sake of making money in any case, it's just the wrong reason to create art of any kind. Make music you want to make, for the right reasons, and don't be in such a rush to "make it". Sure, work hard at your craft if you truly have a passion for it, but also have some patience. I'm 27 years old now, it took SO much of my life to figure this out and as odd as it sounds, the moment I stopped rushing things, is when I started making real progress.
Good luck my friends :)
Man I loved this story, thanks for sharing!! 🙏🏼 Yesss so true about real progress
Damn
Great story

No One Is Alone 💛 ..one day you will live this world behind so live a life which you remember 💛
Avicii reference 😉
Thanks for this man
Positivity is the key to stick with anything, let the negative thoughts about yourself fly away and only keep the positive ones :)
Easier said than done
No offence, but that's like telling a homeless person to just buy a house
this is how I feel when I first started making music .. when I listen to my own music then compare it with other's music, I feel like giving up.. but then, if i stop making music, I might lost myself , might even kill myself, bcause music is my life.. so here I am still fighting as an architecture student and to be a professional producer👏✨
even tho it's just a little progress, even though all you did is just breathe. It's a progress too🌟💕
I'm happy to finally see a big artist speak about it, honestly that's the dark part of the music industry that nobody talk about and all the artists that aren't very well prepared to this and as Avicii, it finished by the suicide. SO a big thank you Aden for this big amount of braveness because it's not easy !
Couldn't have put it better myself man. Thanks for this video, we're all in the same boat.
Even the king Hardwell quit touring and take a time to focus on his “real life”, lots of artists should take more rest ;(
Jonas we are proud of you just you are announcing these things as an artist. When Avicii left, I thought artists should focus more on themselves.
Your songs are made by yourself and you are the only person that completely understand your body or mental situation.
PLEASE TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF
WE ALWAYS APPRECIATE YOUR SONGS BUT THE MOST BEAUTIFUL FACT AS FAN IS THAT SEEING YOUR SMILE 😊

Jonas is the only artist who has the heart to share such an important video , Producers struggle so much behind the scenes . He just gave us solutions to most of the mental problems we face . Thank you So much Jonas . Mental health is a subject that artists never directly bring up with their fans . But now that to have shared this with us we feel so ‘together’ against this problem . I’m sharing this video
So important to talk about this stuff, especially within the music industry

Please don't quit music🙏
Simply well Said Jonas , music can be very hard work but we all push through it and try are hardist to get it out there, but yourself broo u are a true true LEGEND who makes well produced music , stay safe Jonas 👊😎🔥
It's important to talk about it. You can send help to many people.
Every artists, I think, have a bad and good moods every day, in the same day. On one side you're happy to finish track, and an on other side you're sad because you don't have listeners, streams.. I know what is it.
But the important, is to believe in yourself, take pleasure in your music, and be confidence with yourself.
The message of Jonas, is extremely important. Don't be focus on your music every day, take break and breath.
I know, it's hard to see that you're not "famous", I know you work hard for be listening your music.
You need to be patient, and work again and again.
Love,
Instagram: waystox
Maybe I'm just complete shit, but I can't get anywhere. I make tracks good for certain labels and send to them; they all get rejected. I send to big labels and tiny ones too. I've been working really hard on my production but all labels and promotors reject me every time. How am I supposed to get promotion without a promoter because they won't promote an unknown artist? Do I go alone? I'm starting to feel like my production getting better isn't worth it. I put hours into my work but nobody ever hears it. Maybe I'm done for, getting signed isn't ever an option for me. This industry only wants money, which makes complete sense, but there are people who don't work that rise to the top and people that work all the time that are still on rock bottom. I'm going in circles with thinking I made a good track, labels rejecting it, and me thinking I'm just complete shit. I wish some labels would understand this. Producing has helped my mental health during the pandemic, but labels constantly shooting me down screws the joy of producing over. I don’t care about the money, I do it as a hobby. I just want a decent audience loving my music as much as I love making it. I want to feel proud of the work I put into my music, but constant rejections make me feel like throwing it all away. I just want my music promoted.
people arent allowed to dislike these kind of video's
Jonas always guided me a lot through my music production journey... but this video is probably the one that drives me the most. Love you Jonas
I'm almost at burnout too, I can't do anything during this time except be bored. If you also have this, I can only say 1 thing: seek help, talk about it with your parents, teacher or a psychologist
It’s really tough man, I’m in the same place right now and it hurts a lot. I keep telling myself better times ahead and try to find gratitude in the small things I have and cherish
I know the reason I felt the way I did. I broke up with my girl, then I started to kick it with my buddies that just liked to get lit all the time. Then combination brought me back to addiction, something I had stopped by the time I was 22. So the past year since I lost my job and any hope, I picked up my guitar again. It’s taken a lot of time for me, but I’m slowly getting back into the loop of feeling better. I have no money so I can’t get high. I don’t talk to my friends because I don’t want to get high anymore. I want to surround myself with people with positive attitudes and a drive and passion to improve themselves. Those are the types of people that motivate me to try harder. It makes my goals seem reachable and brings my confined back, slowly but surely.
@@drone2936 Thanks for sharing your story man! Going through something similar right now honestly and I totally relate to addiction and going back to bad habits. It's very difficult to find people who genuinely try to work on themselves because most are stuck in their ways and want to appear cool. When you do though, give them unconditional love because they are rare gems and will matter more than anything in your journey. I pray that you find peace with your guitar because it's always given me the joy to get through these tough times.
This was soo impactful to me 🙏
I LIKE HOW I'M GOING THROUGH THOSE THINGS RN. I'M PRETTY SURE MANY IS TOO. LIKE MY FAMILY ISN'T SUPPORTING MY DREAM N THIS IS HELPING ME NOT STOP PRODUCING! IT MAKES ME REALISE 'I'M NOT ALONE' LUV U MAN, WE ALL THANK U!!! ❤️

Thank you Jonas for making this video, we all know this but nobody wants to talk about it.
Mental health is much more important than you think. 🖤
I think that female model for the t shirt is in the jonas aden strangers do music video
Correct!
damni knew i sawher beforee 🤯 nice one haha
The reasons you listed here are why I will never want to become a professional musician. The stress is just not worth it. I strive to make great music that I love, more or less in my own manageable pace, and try build a fanbase like that. If it will take me 10 years to get "there", let it be. I noticed the more I make music, the less I am passionate about it. I don't want to lose passion so that's why I think this would work out the best for me.
No one is ever alone you may feel lonely but you are never truly alone. No one in this world was meant to be alone. Remember that and have an amazing day.

Hi Jonas! This is really an amazing video and all the things you mention are SO RECOGNIZABLE! Literally every little detail... I'm just starting out, but already been busy with music for many years,... but it's just kind of "reassuring" that a big guy like you goes through the same struggles. Amazing message, really!
No, don't Leave!
Well, even my audience isn't big or maybe doesn't exist in the first place but I love making music, I had a DID (Still) but music helped me to forget the pain that I'm actually 3 persons in one, one day I wanted people to hear stuff I make but no one actually is enjoying it, I know I have only 1 year music production experience but I feel that I just suck, I can't improve and sometimes I can't even enjoy making music because I want to make something that people will like which is not easy at all... my music production future is dark I don't & I can't know if one day I will make something special that people will like. Thank you so much Aden for making me speak & also for sharing your story, You helped a lot of artists including me! ❤❤
