    Great video, very clear instruction!, I have a question; how does the heat molding works with custom carbon insole? or the new molded shape will form to support my arch and metatarsal? Thank you

    • @sonofacyclist2744
      @sonofacyclist2744  3 роки тому +2

      I would try to heat mold them with the custom carbon insoles and see how that works. Remember you can mold them as many times as you like. I just got another set and ham having a difficult time with them. I literally have them in the over as I type this and this will be the 9th time. Just make sure you stay within the recommended time and temp when placing them in.

    Awesome video! How much time is it recommended to wait before reheating the shoe? Thanks

    • @sonofacyclist2744
      @sonofacyclist2744  4 роки тому

      I'd wait 20 min in between heatings. So heat for 20 min at the recommended temperature, take out and mold or make your adjustments. That will usually take 15-20 min. So once that 20 min has passed, feel free to throw them back in for another 20 min heat session.

    I got 3 pairs of Bonts 23/24. Vapor S and Vapor +. I cooked them to perfection and the fit is perfect. However, the left shoe, when I start riding, feels like a screw or something is picking from the inside right at ball of the foot. I inspected the shoes and they are perfect; it is just my foot. After sometime ridding numbness/discomfort start. Any idea what is it?
    I am avoiding the use of custom insoles. As I mentioned they fit perfect, putting different insoles takes away volume. Any ideas?
    P.S. I am already using cleats all the way back.

  • @Demon09-_-
    @Demon09-_- 2 роки тому +1

    I can't recomend it but what ive found is if you want to widen bont's toe box it will take alot more then there 160f. even heating them to say 180f for 20 mins you will be lucky to get that outside tub to move. using a heat gun or hair dryer and pint pointing the heat is much more effective and less risky for the rest of the shoe. If you use a heat gun just take it slow as its very easy to get to hot way to fast

    Good Evening from Saudi Arabia. I just got my Bont Helix. I’m getting pain on the bone just below the ankle bone. Will heat molding help me be able to lower the top of the shoe?

    • @sonofacyclist2744
      @sonofacyclist2744  3 роки тому +1

      Yes it should help. Right now the stock shape is simply pushing into your foot. By molding your shoe, it should shape it properly.

    Question....
    I have a minor bunyon on the inner part of my left foot. The tub area of this shoe rubs a bit in that spot. My question is, during the heat molding process, any idea how much pushing out with the end of the screwdriver will the shoe/carbon take?

      I don’t believe so mate, I am under the impression it’s to do with the resin in the carbon layering that allows bonts shoes to be malleable

    It doesn't feel to me like the sole is very pliable even after 20 minutes at 170F. Do you normally feel noticeable changes in the shape of the sole while heat-molding? Even while pushing with a screwdriver handle it doesn't feel like I'm really affecting the shape of the carbon fiber tub. Thank you for any advice you can offer.

  • @ragwort3369

    I followed this process to the letter with a new pair of Riot TR+ triathlon shoes. All that happened is that the glue holding the upper to the sole melted. The shoes are now useless.

      You should be able to set it lower than the minimum on the dial (unless it's digital?) i use an over thermometer anyway as i don't necessarily trust an oven to tell a precise temp, so just set it low an dial temp in on the thermometer.

    I did this 3 times... but the shoes still gave me blisters after only 40 km... then I released that they are just awful shoes! Super light... but Super uncomfortable. I switched to fizik... not heating required and perfect fit! ❤️

    • @sonofacyclist2744
      @sonofacyclist2744  3 роки тому +5

      Not every shoe is meant for every foot. Do you think you possibly got the wrong size/width to cause the blisters? While it is unfortunate that the shoe didn't work for you, I'd hardly say the shoe is awful. At the end of the day, I'm glad you ended up with a shoe that you find more comfortable though.

    • @karlwalters3763
      @karlwalters3763 3 роки тому +9

      Bagging something and calling it awful because it doesn't suit you is a pretty low act. I find that a lot of other shoes don't fit my foot but don't call them an awful product because they're not.

    To those who planning to mold their bont shoe. I suggest you remove ALL the accessories as much as possible! I used to own 3 pairs bont(vaypor+,zero and the xc) the rubber heel and those mounting hardware on the zero and xc just felt apart, only the unmold vaypor+ is able to last until this day. Again..their insole just doesn't match the price we paying for🤮 #bontcycling

    • @sonofacyclist2744

      obviously I dont know the steps you took to heat mold your shoes, however I can assure you that you do not need to take all the other parts of the shoe. just asking not judging, but are you sure you sued the recommended heating? Anything above can do damage that you are describing. Did you use a cookie sheet or did you place directly on the over rack? Sorry to hear you had difficulties molding yours. I have had 13 pair of Bont shoes over the years and heat molded each one 4-8 times each without any issue at all. So I'm interested as to what went wrong with your process.
