Misty, I started making cards after my C2-3 and C4-5 discectomy and fusion. Because of the pain I was full blown depressed for years. I did get some relief from the surgery but not completely. I had to leave my job over 10 years ago. But after many years of therapy, rx, praying and believing that God would get me through I finally got to a point where I am now making cards nearly everyday. I now a have my own card business where my sales are growing. No one can feel the pain of another but I empathize with you. And I pray that you will return 100%.

Prayers. I had C3,C4, C5, C6 fusion in 2018, helped me greatly. I like you need back surgery and it is totally life changing. I focus on what I can do, not what I can't. Hugs.
I have fusions in my back and I live a normal lifestyle I make cards I stitch on fabric and paper do all kinds of things.Good luck be positive that’s the key. Good luck!

I struggle with mental illness and even when I struggle getting to cook or shower I go in my craft room and just hold the papers and go through my inks, paints, stamps NOT to craft but just as something nice. My clinical psychologist recommended it and my psychiatrist agreed as long as I don’t beat myself up for not being able to create at the worst days. If you haven’t already speak to a psychologist. Please don’t ever get to where I got, no permanent solution for a temporary emotional pain, if you know what I mean. Take care of you, sending hugs and prayers ❤

Hi, I have enjoyed your videos and they have been very helpful. I am sorry to hear about your surgery, but wanted to let you know that I am sending you prayers for a good recovery. I am in my 10th week of recovering from 2 days of Anterior (front) Posterior (back) lumbar fusion surgery S1-L3. What you will be going through is major surgery, but remember when you are in the first 6 weeks of recovery, it will get better. It takes a while The worst for me has been nerve pain because nerves have been compressed, spine stretched, muscles cut. It will get better. The top of my spine (cervical) has its own issues. I wanted to send this as a private message but didn’t know how to. I am sending you good thoughts and prayers, and am so sorry you have to go through this. If you have any questions I am more than happy to tell you how my healing process has gone.
Praying for you. My step mum had several surgeries on her spine from the lower back to the neck. I don’t know what they were called but I know they put a rod in part of it and fused most of it. After the second one she had a wheel chair to help her and a cane after the 3rd one. Then after another one she is ok, she can’t play sports as well as she used to and some she can’t do and she was pretty athletic before she got unwell. That was done over several years starting about 32 years ago. Even now she is glad she had it and once she knew everything was good her mental health gradually improved and she went back to study and now has HEE own business. My parents regularly go on holidays and hike. She does have to be mindful of how far she can push herself but overall she(and all of us) are glad she had it to have some quality of life. I guess she was lucky in a way she had 2 almost teenagers, 2 teenagers and my dad to help her with recovery. Wishing you all the best❤

I had similar problem the surgery was worth it...I was facing be a quadriplegic.

Misty, I'm so very sorry that you are having to go through this, but please talk to God and give it all to Him. Everything happens for a reason and He, and He alone, will bring you through all of this. Stay positive - just think of how much better you will feel eventually once you heal. Be kind with yourself through the healing process and remember that with each passing day, it will get better. Healing takes time and sure isn't easy, but you are strong - I can tell that from all that you have been through already and you keep smiling and laughing through it all. I'm sorry it's taken this long for an answer, but just remember how this procedure has advanced and all that they know about it and all of them that they do.........I will be praying for you. Praying for continued answers, wisdom for the drs and for you to be confident in your decision making as you go forth and for the surgery and healing process and most of all for peace in your spirit. Remember that God is as close to you as your very breath and He WILL carry you and walk along beside you every step of the way, if you invite Him in. He loves you more than anyone else ever could. He formed you in your mother's womb and knows you intimately. I believe you WILL be back on here in time and you WILL be able to craft again once you heal.
