Thank you and hopefully the video helped you out! We always try to make the videos short and sweet to make sure we get right to the point as people like you are trying to fix they're car and not just on here to watch videos rambling on and on. Thank you for watching!
I have to give you thanks for this one. Replaced the dead alternator on my brothers 300 thousand mile corolla 6 months ago. Year old battery took a crap a month ago. Figured just a dead cell. The other day my brothers battery light came on, showing 12.3 at the battery and slowly dropping. Put it up to 1500rpm, didnt change voltage. Month old battery was still testing 100%. Thought maybe the parts store alt was junk. Figured id diagnosis it a little further, looked around and came across this video. Put a brick on the throttle for 3000rpm, voltage went up to 13.4. Confused but figured what the hell, ill try it. Took the throttle body off, cleaned it real good, threw it back on and wallah, 14.6 at idle with everything on, ac, radios, lights etc. Gotta say, being a mechanic/car restorations/building race cars and fab.... "Car not charging. Clean out throttle body" was NOT on my bingo card of diagnostics to fix. 😂😂
Thank you very much. This video was so helpful, I checked the voltage on the charging system, dropped down to a dead battery. I assumed the alternator was bad, took it off and got it tested, alternator was good according to Autozone and O’Rileys. So i looked up and your video showed up to have my 2007 Corolla running up again. I wanted to make sure i liked the video and give thanks.
This helped me when I was worried I messed up my install. The positive terminal of the battery was corroded constantly. I replaced the connection to the battery, then the battery, then the alternator… I feel like it was a compound problem. The voltage regulator then the battery then the alternator went 1:36 bad I think. I wasn’t seeing the voltages to tell me I did it right.. tried this and then it was all good. Thank you!
My car going well. Starting it is nice. This morning, there was no issue, but later in this day my battery ligt stayed on. I checked internet and I saw alternator issue may the problem. I went to the electrician/technician and connected voltmeter/ampere meter on the battery and we saw the voltage jump 14.3 and decrease to the 13.5 and 12.3 respectively, and it cycles. They didn't check fuses, they didn't check blockage, they said we'll remove the alternator and look inside, after that we can say something about the issue 😂 I needed to go another city for funeral ceremony, so I didn't do anything about my issue. Morning, I'll give a try what I can do. If you have some suggestions, I would like to know, thank you ❤😂
I was legitimately upset after I got the Car battery sign flashing and I was so confused with it going away every time I accelerated. And I had just replaced the alternator. I'm going to give this a try hopefully that fixes it 🤞🏼
I also had a interesting battery light after replacing alternator. My charge light was flickering fast. And it would not come on with cycling ignition, turns out wiring harness had a bad spot. (2.7L tacoma)
What fuse is that your checking? My daughters 2018 Camry is charging 13.8 and its a newer battery. Alternator seems fine but when I jump it off and let it run then shut it off it wont start without the jump box. Im stumped
@@acetechauto7 thats what it ended up being I hope. The battery was 2 months old so I didnt think it would be that but after talking to Toyota they say that batteries like ac delco get rejected by the electrical system in the new Toyotas. Ive never heard that before but I went and got one of their lifetime TrueStart batteries and it seems fine now. Weird!
@NLD352 AC Delco is a good battery I’ve never had any issues with it but the problem is that the batteries are some times not rotated out and you end up with a battery that’s been sitting there for a long time and drained out. Im glad you got it figured out!
Please respond to me, when I hit the throttle it gets to 13.1 voltage. What do you think is the problem, and engine shut off when the battery terminal is removed. Please may be the problem
I have this issue with low idle/rythmic idle and ive replaced the pkugs coils filter and iac valve and its still doing it. Had my battery tested and did the throttle open to 2500 rpms and found it im running only on the battery. Changing out the alternator tomorrow morning and i hope that fixes it
@@wretched_wu2923 My bad didn't mean to post twice. Mine seems to be charging at 12.5 with real low idle and 13.5 revving. Was yours the same? What brand alternator do you recommend buying?
What the heck I’ll give it a try…..can’t make it worse! Keeping fingers crossed cause don’t want to replace alternator again….just replaced 2 months ago AND new battery…..ran fine for two months now it’s doing it again….and THIS time I will have to replace the tensioner arm as well as alternator since bolt got stripped on arm and can’t get belt on or off w out that bolt so yea…..looking for another answer
i replaced the alternator doesnt charge battery got a new battery nothing put the previous one back when you increase rpm goes to 14v but let go of the gas drops to 12.30-12.50 i will do the throttle body cleaning if that doesnt fix the issue could it be wiring?
We had the same issue on a 2016 Camry. All we did was rev the hell out of the car which somehow cleared the throttle blockage and the alternator started charging the battery again.
Hello I just did this process and I had my little brother go and step on the gas for I can check the voltage and it staying at 12 wen he steps on it 2k rpm to 3k rpm Nothing happens the voltage stays the same it dropped down to 11.90
Didn’t work for me, I tried changing the alternator, cleaning the throttle body, cleaning battery terminal cables, what else could it be? Battery light is still on
The engine layout is different but it’s a 2010 Toyota corrola, and we bought a new alternator and battery, drives for a bit then power steering goes out and can’t start again ( thinking it’s not charging the battery)
Tested battery and alternator…..said battery fine alternator junk. Charged battery now says alternator ok but regulator is on its way out. Charged battery a little more and today says battery good and alternator is good….so what’s the deal? Short ?
I just recharged my drained battery and was able to start the engin. The engine was running well even when I disconnected wire to the battery pole. But! When I turned on head light, the engin died right away! Two tries were same results! I am wondering about it and searching the solutions. Can you help me out? Thank you!
Your issue sounds more of an electrical problem. You most likely have a burnt up wire somewhere you would have to trace down wires and connectors to find the problem.
There’s nothing that special about throttle body cleaner from brake cleaner. I’ve been using it for 20 years and still to this day haven’t seen a problem with it. Just like you can use it instead of starter fluid to start a motor up also.

Thank you bro you saved me after I already replaced alternator.
My battery light is on had it tested they said it was alternator nut I failed to look at fuse to see if it was blown first
Thanks so much recently changed my alternator and rode for like 3 days before having to get a new battery will try both these steps next

Open it and spray it and wipe it clean with a rag or towel.

I didn't know brake clean would work to clean throttle body
Yes brake cleaner works just as well as throttle body cleaner for the throttle body.
Never use brake cleaner on a throttle body.
There is a reason they sell TB cleaner. You can look at the cans they dont have the same things in them
