Zuko's redemption arc is one of the best I've ever seen. It's a wonder Zuko didn't come out worse with Ozai and Azula. Iroh heavily contributed to that. Thanks for the reaction!
Iroh aged so much due to the death of his son and he has aged even more now since having been on the run with Zuko who has lost heaps of weight due to his poverty in his travels
Which is crazy considering master archers, the Yu Yan, we're such an asset to the fire nation for so many years. So if Ozai had taken note of Zuko's training, he could've created an entire squad of non-bending killers, trained by Zuko, since Piandao would refuse.
When Zuko beats the earthbender and reveals his identity, a man in the crowd shouted that Zuko's own father burned him. However, in "The Storm", it was implied that this fact was not publicly known, as Zuko's own crew, who had been traveling with him for nearly three years, was under the assumption that he got his scar in a training accident.
The fire nation is an authoritarian regime, so it reasonable to suspect that the truth about Zuko is suppressed among its citizens but might slip out to other regions that aren’t yet under fire nation control.
When I watched this video it seemed like Zuko's mom, Ursa, killed the grandfather. It sounded like the grandfather wanted Ozai to kill Zuko to teach Ozai what it is like to lose a son like Iroh. Ursa found out from Azula and killed the grandfather, and I guess something happened to her as well.
I feel like Ozai was the biggest bastard of the family. Even after Sozin committed genocide and God knows what Azulon did (probably was the one who tore down Fire Nation culture). Sozin at least cared about his nation enough to fight a volcano and Azulon cared about his family. Ozai used his family as bargaining chips and was willing to go through Fire Nation colonies just to wipe out the Earth Kingdom.
@@Dustin_Frost Well, Azulon declaring that Ozai must kill Zuko for daring to propose he takes the throne from Iroh because he lost Lu Ten is not exactly caring for his family that much. He still ordered a father to kill his own son, his grandson. I see Azulon's decision as him showing that he won't tolerate anyone who tries to steal power and corrupt the Fire Nation royal succession, even if it comes from his own family.

Also, Iroh pretty much had depression ever since his son died up until Zuko's fight with Zhao.
You just made me realise a world with even just 1000 benders around the world (and there’s probably far more in the armies of every kingdom) would be literally bloody terrifying. I’m pretty sure it’d be FAR worse than Attack On Titan, regardless of how well the law is administered on people.
The knife Zuko got from his uncle when he was in the siege of ba sing se, it says on the blade "never give up without a fight" but the blade's owner surrendered as soon as iroh broke down the wall 💀 the comedy and the irony 😭😭
Zuko travels on the ostrich horse he stole from Song and her family at the end of "The Cave of Two Lovers". Zuko's dagger was first seen in "The Avatar State" when Zuko and Iroh cut off their topknots. Zuko's mother, Ursa, is seen for the first time. The pregnant woman and her husband, whom Zuko decides not to rob, would later be seen
The generals knife said “never give up without a fight” which is ironic since he immediately surrendered when iroh broke through the outer (not even inner) wall. Goes to show how promising iroh’s attack was. This proves iroh didnt “quit” because he couldn’t emotionally go on after his sons death, in fact, he CHOSE to not take part in the very thing that took his son away from him: the senseless war. This is when he changed as a person. This was his turning point and the thing that makes him such an amazing character.
I really appreciate Sheera for putting Ozai into the conversation of why Azula turned out the psycho she is. She turned into a baaaaad person, but mainly because Ozai had all his attention on her while Ursa had all her attention on Zuko. Loved the intro and the reaction!!
You should look up "Azula's Psychology" video...it's heart breaking. She's so well written and one of my favorite Avatar characters. And yeah, the problem with Azula is basically her parents..plural, while Ursa had a kind soul, she was never really that kind with Azula, not as the way she was with Zuko...it is better explained in the video I mentioned.
The thing to remember is Zuko *was* a nice guy. He became bitter and driven to capture the Avatar, but he was banished because he stood up for his people.
That explains why Ozai seems to hate zuko, Ozai himself was a 2nd child who believed himself to be more worthy of the throne, and he sees Azusa as the same, more worthy than her older brother.
Iroh needed to find himself too. After losing his son, iroh needed to find himself. That's when his redemption happened. If he would have taken the throne, I doubt he would have gone through the WHOLE character change and growth he went through As u can see, iroh sends them gifts and loved his son, this shows that he did actually value atleast family, meanwhile ozai values power. If iroh would have taken thethrone, I'm pretty sure he wouldnt have ended the war, but just wouldnt have been as cruel. The loss of his son and power of the throne probably would have made iroh bitter or not the fire lord his ppl would have wanted. So I perfer that he didnt get the throne. He needed to find himself. Zuko if u noticed has a crappy family and lineage but he still has iroh and had his mother that had hope in him to be good. Iroh and ursa definitely helped zuko not lose himself to want to please ozai. Azula is a daddy's girl but its obvious he doesnt really care or love his family as a father should. He was mostly proud at her display of power. Ozai sucks and I cant wait til u guys watch more. Love the reactions
I really think that Azula cares in her own way. That one snap shot of her and Zuko chasing each other before ursa got the scroll and the two of them laughing at Iroh’s letter show that she wasn’t always a ruthless killing machine. I think her saying Iroh should have bribed Ba Sing Se is how she expresses that she’s pissed her cousin was killed. She can’t express emotions like a normal person so she turns to anger. What she’s actually saying is “Ba Sing Se took my cousin away, we should avenge him and burn the city to the ground. And Iroh is a coward for not avenging his son”
The sad thing though is Azula was only 14 and was the way she was because she longed for her fathers approval because she didn’t get such from her mother. In the end I felt bad for her
By far one of my favorite episode of ATLA. Zuko's character development throughout the show is phenomenal and is the reason he is one of my favorite characters.
and when you think about it, ozai probably favors azula because of her being a psycho or whatever but also bc she’s the younger child and he identifies with that- he probably has an older sibling complex or something, because he likely resents iroh for automatically being the heir and taking what he sees as his. so he was probably more likely to favor azula even before she came out crazy

One of the nice things about this show is the way it shows both sides being bad and both sides being good. The fire nation is clearly the enemy of the world, but the earth kingdom's soldiers are taking advantage of their positions as well. Neither side is comically evil or comically good.
It's been years and this comment will drown but it just dawned on me that Iroh lost his son and returns to the Fire Nation only to find out his father also passed away and his sister-in-law is gone in a span of the same week. Poor man really lost everyone and only had Zuko left.
For those who do not know Zuko’s mom killed The previous firelord so that Zuko’s father wouldn’t have to kill him. That’s how Zuko’s father became the fire lord.
Zuko naming himself as the prince gave those people a face to go with all the misery that's befallen their town and their country. One good deed doesn't undo all the damage the Fire Nation has done.
Its pretty clear this episode is how theres conflict within Zuko. Although I believe when it flashed back to his mother saying remember who you are, and then he popped up and yelled "I am the PRINCE"... that was Zuko misinterpreting his mothers words. In that moment he wavered back to essentially the bad side he is struggling with. I mean if you think about it., I dont think Zukos mom was telling him to remember he is heir to the throne, but probably along the lines like he is unique and not to compare himself to his father and sister.
Zuko's arc is the most fantastically done character development arc I've ever seen, before or since. Nothing has ever stood up to the expectations I have for character arcs since Zuko.
Hands down the best reactors not only for this show but in general! I absolutely love all your videos and CANT WAIT for you guys to go through all the episodes.. I'll lose it when you get to the finale , it is fantastic

the one who killed azulon is ursa. she was underpressure of ozai because someone misjudged that zuko was ursa and her first love child (it's not true). that's why his father hate zuko the most. after read post-episode avatar, i glad that ursa came back to zuko and become family once again.

That quote from ursa about the mother turtle duck is quite the foreshadowing of the rest of the episode...
I love you vids so much love the new intro :second by the way
HEY WATCH IT THE TURTLEDUCKS ARE ADORABLE
YOOOOO THE INTRO
For those who do not know Zuko’s mom killed The previous firelord so that Zuko’s father wouldn’t have to kill him. That’s how Zuko’s father became the fire lord.
Homie on the far right makes the reactions for me
I have seen this series but I am more than happy to watch along with y'all and relive the same joy I had for these episodes when I first seen these.
Bro not even a min in and lupa has my laughing dudes a character LOl
FIRE ASS INTRO! Also, loving the reactions! Def subscribing, the dynamic with you three really works
New OP intro? 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Zuko is just an IMPECABLE character
Mad intro! Diggin' the Grey Fox add!
"A CORNERED FOX IS MORE DANGEROUS THAN A JACKAL!" Twin Snakes was the first MG I played, Fox vs corridor soldiers was my favorite scene!
after you're finished with the series i'd love for you guys to watch "the psychology of Azula" by 'hello future me' here on youtube. really helps you get an understanding of Azula and the fire nation.
Omg that intro is just...wow
the one who killed azulon is ursa. she was underpressure of ozai because someone misjudged that zuko was ursa and her first love child (it's not true). that's why his father hate zuko the most. after read post-episode avatar, i glad that ursa came back to zuko and become family once again.
