I use black gorilla tape on the inside of my tires. Seems to work great so far. Ive never gotten to the speeds you are attempting though.

Hey kev! You will need better lipos...your banggood lipos are mabye good for bashing...the genc ace are defnitly better but still not enough. If you are putting that much Power in your rig will need something that is able to give the Power...so you will need lipos that can do like 60c or 80c...that can be one Problem why you are still on 66 mph.

Kevin, You should make a 'lifting body' (air foil shaped body), and turn the back fin into a pair of Elevons that can be programmed to provide either down-force when on the road, and then some control-ability when in the air after launching off the jump.

I believe that bigger diameter tires would achieve higher speeds on grass. Not just due to the higher gearing, but because they reduce the rolling resistance and even out the uneven surface.
As a suggestion try out the Arrma Big Rock's stock tires (dBoots Ragnaroks). They are about 160 mm in diameter and they are quite firm and do not balloon. 💪🏻🙋🏻

Glueing wheels is my least favourite part of this hobby, I make a mess and it seperates again anyway, an ongoing battle.
Its really bad with off road rc's that go over 70mph. I have to re-glue at least once a week.

I hit 59mph with my traxxas rustler with a 4s Lipo and a big pinion on 3s I hit 53

My brother did that belting trick on his drag shahs and it worked great

It’s known as magnetic resistance on electric motors.. not compression!
Specs say that the 3200kv TP 4070 motor will draw a maximum continuous current of 382 amps!! No wonder the Max 6 couldn't handle it. 🤣 I wouldn't even consider any ESC with less than a 300 Amp continuous current rating..... Also watch out, that motors max voltage is 23.5 volts.
So unfortunately 6s is about as high as you can go🙁.

One thing that works pretty well is using a thicker bicycle tire tube. Cut into strips and glue them to the inside just like your dry wall tape. 1/4 inch overlap at the end to hold the bond. 😎👍

Kev: I dont know if you can get them in the UK... but I have had some success making body shell parts from thin wall white #2 plastic (recyclable) cat litter jug and a heat gun. That stuff is pretty tough.

The 200a version of the ztw beast may be a better option. It's smaller and lighter but only 8s capable. The 300a would be hilarious in a 1/8 scale though!

No one does belted tires for a 1/8 buggy that I could think of, my only thought is this (and you've have tech skills to do this) is use 1/8 GRP tires (THE BRAND GRP! Not the GRP plastic!) and put studs in them, e.g. screws. If you don't go mad and put too many in (and spaced out to to keep them balanced, use a pilot drill don't just screw them in) and not go too big (maybe 1/4 to 1/2 inch sticking out of the tire) they'd work, you'll need to glue the tires back on to the rims once you've put the studs on DONT try and put the studs through the rims! Longer than 1/2 inch and you'd have too much grip, and serious trouble. OR Do My Thing and take the tires off and put duct tape on the inside, with steel or carbon fibre in it, you can get it, it ain't cheap and delivery time maybe your biggest issue. Any how Mr K! We're all wishing you the best here in the USA!

Got an XL with the 4070 and 8s esc and I'll tell you belted is a MUST those tires won't hold on half power 😂🤣 also, the max6 will probably amp out powering that motor maybe try a mamba monster x 8s or xlx. Cheers
To counter the ballooning, instead of the tape, try putting something solid and glue it to the tire itself so it cant balloon
That Esc your looking at is the same as what comes standard in the Voltz Dragon hammer, a buddy of mine has had 2 fail on him 😬 they say 12s capable but apparently they don't warranty it on 12s lol, also take into account the size of it its huge!!!! Its like 2 max5s side by side easy, I can send you a pic of it in my hand or on my xmaxx If you like kev

Max6 is really good. Iam running my max6 with a mamba monster X 2200kv motor it works extremely well I put my max6 in to a 1/8 buggy kyosho inferno type 2. I turned it in to a speed run car on 6s

I’m new with RC cars but live the channel. I bough a wltoys 144001 after watching the review on it as my entry into the RC world. BIG QUESTION: I keep breaking the front and rear hinge pins (the plastic “sockets” that hold the swing arm pins in place). Is this common? Will it happen less with more expensive cars? I’m basically getting 10min of play time with my son before needing to take time to rebuild and it’s a bummer as each crash hasn’t been that bad.
Are the Proline Trencher HP Belted not available in the size you require? or the Sweep Racing Terrain Crusher Belted?

Use the Castle ESC. Its much cheaper and everyone who uses that motor uses this ESC.
