As a people who live in South East Asian country, the thing I'm jealous most is not how awesome that rc car was but how good of a road that you got in America. A very nice and long road like that won't last a week in my country without tons of trucks and cars causing potholes and etc. And if by some miracle that didn't happen, moped motorcyclists or car ricers would use that nice road as their backyard racing ground. Police don't do anything and law enforcement is a joke in my country.
I think the thrust provided by the turbine is not of much use because of the power transferred by the motor to the ground. Still a nice run. Achieving insane speeds as usual.
If you consider the thrust as drag reduction... providing the additional weight isn't a net loss... then it makes sense. I'd ditch the extra cell and fit two mini turbines. Around 2/3 the weight of the current rig. But hey... the sound is enough to make it worth it! 😊👌
That fan looked very powerful maybe its the weight of the car thats keeping it from reaching its full effect, 123 is insane though hope to see future vids on this project.
Nope. It will most likely run slower if it can't clear the air quick enough. The positive load on the impeller will reduce rpm. A guy at an RC airshow tried mounting wing EDFs to steer a nitro jet. 😑 It ended just about as well as you're imagining. 🤣
@@hesperhurt most EDF's have a motor who's torque curve is optimized for high rpm, and blades that are spaced and pitched to give best thrust at high rpm, and high velocity airflow. That's why they are effective at high speeds, and typically do not perform well at lower speeds. The failure of the nitro jet with EDF's mounted on the wings most likely failed to achieve good control for other reasons than the thrust level of the EDF. If what was stated was true, they would not be effective at high speeds, and they most definitely are. Efficient low speed thrust requires large low rpm blades with low pitch Efficient High speed thrust requires small high RPM blades with high pitch. pretty simple really...
Nice idea 😁 if you move the EDF to the back so you have a clean exhaust from the fan you'll get more thrust out of it. Then hit it at high speed like a turbo boost, as they work better at higher airspeed.
You’ll need a scoop, they loose a ton of thrust when they don’t get perfect airflow (the micro jet engines don’t have this issue, they will run in rediculous environments, but the electric EDFs really struggle with restricted air intake unfortunately). But yeah, put a little air scoop or just place it far back enough and put a small metal screen so rocks from the tires don’t fly in and it should be an improvement.
@@tommyayala5426 It means I'm building something that will blow this setup out of the water, bro. Edf mounted on the back? Yes. This video was Mark 1, Mark 2 will be (by far) better...
This really looks like a project I did in my high school. But I have some suggestions, first why did you not put the ducted fan in the back of the car? It would be much more powerful because there is no obstacle in the way. Although it would be less stable. My solution was custom make a lengthened chassis from aluminum panel so it wouldn’t spin out. I also suggest use a nitro powered car as the base because they have mechanical brakes so you can get the wheel power entirely away.

putting the ducted fan in the front of the car will make be less effcient because that hight speed air coming out of the little turbine will be obstaculized by the car´s body and that little gps and spoiler , so the high speed air coming out of the turbine wont be pushing so much air flow to help the car go faster, so maybe if you put it in the rear end of the car im pretty sure that the air flow coming out of the ducted fan turbine will be able to circulate freely to the exterior making more push for the car and gaining more speed.. It will be so much interesting trying putting the ducted fan in different parts of the car to see if it makes an considerable change as Im sugesting.. great video!! that thing is a rocket!
