Lock front and rear differentials to stop diffing out when tires leave the ground. Off-road surface may be the cause of the tire carnage. Love the videos!!
Between the 100MPH offroad and 200MPH onroad cars youve been building plus the Monster Truck videos, this channel has been super exciting lately. Cant wait to see whats next.
Another piece of advice: when you're doing high speed runs reduce your steering throw. If you look at top AA fuel dragsters they only have about 10 deg of lock to lock.
Same with the racing bike's they have an electronic hydraulic system attached to the bars makes steering stiffer when at high speed! That's how older cars were much better back in the day with heavier steering! My cozzie was a car that certainly befited from it!
Awesome video as always. I was thinking it might be worth running some very thick diff oil to reduce the risk of the unloaded wheel ballooning up and destroying the tyre. Also maybe thicker centre diff oil to reduce the front wheels spinning up, it could make the car pull wheelies easier though.
100mph on grass is achievable. My traxxas maxx on 6s tops out at 90mph or 146kmh depending on what you understand. So its deffinately far from stock. Ive exploded non belted tyres before, never had an issue with belted beadlocks though. I use louse brand wheels and tyres, theyre called something else in parts of the world that arent australia.
I freaking love Kevin! His videos give me my RC dopamine fix every day! Hey buddy, you should try the Proline badlands MX.28 Belted tires. They are bigger so you won't need as much wheel speed and they don't balloon. Rich Duperdash also uses them on his Typhon. I have yet to have one balloon or come unglued. You will love them. But you will need to buy the Aluminum 17mm hex adapters. Stay awesome Kevin. You're looking good. Looking a lot younger these days.
I like this. challenge, its different then what other channels are doing. Hope you get to that 100mph on grass. Grass makes it so unique, best I've seen in awhile.
Hi Kev. Something to try when you belt your own tires is to use braided fishing line, it should be stronger (higher the kg/lbs test the stronger) and the braid makes it so it should absorb some of the glue so hopefully it’s not a full day endeavor
Yeah, you can see the traction bias by the wheelies. If anything it should be biased towards the front axles. If there's a centre diff, soon as the front looses traction all the power is delivered to the rear.
@@muskokamike127 it's actually the opposite. When the front tires unload all the power will go to the tire with the least resistance. Spooling the front, center, and rear will eliminate that power transfer. Problem is it will start breaking shafts when the tire comes back in to high grip at full power.
@@muskokamike127 if it has centre differential, as soon as the front tires lift up, the rear is getting no power but the front tires will go to the moon
Muskogean mike, if a differential unloads, and spins a wheel, it’s not applying power to a loaded wheel with traction. This applies to a center diff as well. If the front tires get lifted and are getting no traction, they spin and the energy follows the path of least resistance, thus the expansion of the front tires and structural failure at extreme rpm.
I just watched one of your earlier videos, i dont know if you remember this but you can put wire and tape inside the rim to stop it from balloning, also, when are you gonna rescue the boat from the lake with the underwater drone???
The problem with ride height is you get too much air under the vehicle which means it will go airborne easily. remember: if that's a 1/10th scale vehicle he's trying to do 1000 mph scale. Real full sized vehicles haven't done that on the salt flats.
Kev, yesterday I broke my collarbone, and this is really soothing to watch. It calmed me down, I was getting super pale, and I appreciate your work man. Thanks Kev.😘🥰❤
Just so you know: Bugatti has the same problem with tires on the Veyron and Chiron. When the Veyron does it's top speed runs the tires only last 15 mins. When the Chiron does it's high speed runs it's ONE and DONE. They don't reuse the tires.
Yeah, that means they'll be spinning less (due to larger circumference) but travelling further. But as long as he's doing more than 1 run per set, he'll always have issues. Even Bugatti only does 1 speed run per set.
Kevin. A thought that may or may not work and may not exist. What if you fitted solid tyres? My thinking is if you could have the wheel and tyre made from one piece of aluminium (other materials may be better) then you wouldn't have any ballooning, you could just have very a very aggressive tread but your suspension would be doing ALL the work of taking the bumps. Given I have no idea about the next video and you may want to go faster anyway, I thought I'd just say in case it's useful. Also. Thanks for being there for us 😀 and we're always here for you. 😃👍
I’m so glad I stumbled across your channel! Makes me really want to get back into the hobby and I want to get my 5 year old son into it. TO BAD EVERYTHING IS GOING UP IN PRICE!!!
Hi I just want to say that I love your videos. I think you should do a World record jump and it put in a book Like Ripley's believe it or not you Deserve the recognition for all your hard work thanks for all the great videos keep it up
Kev, check out the belted tires from Method RC. They make several different kinds and you might be able to try the Mojave wheels and tires on your spprd car or put some other the street tires on it.
Hi Kevin my name is ben I've been watching you for a couple months now and I'm wondering if you could wish me happy birthday since you were the person that has taught me all that I know about the hobby and got me into it
Dude, KEEP GOING…. Luvin’ it, ya need either smoother grass or more ground clearance and suspension travel, but still be awear of aero rake, you have a rear wing but the body doesn’t give enough downforce on the front end….👍
An idea for the 200mph car Use four Motors two for each axle and increase the wheel base for more room for electronics and get a sheet of Lexan put it on diagonally leaning towards the front (so it doesn’t do a back flip) and put lexan on the sides but make them higher than the top lexan or use carbon fiber. And also love your channel hope to see more off-road with Andy the landy!
I think the belted tires are only rated for 75mph Kev. Your diy tires might be the better way to go. Also try a wheel balancer. That should make the wheel less shaky at high speeds.
Would bigger tires help? I belted some Stampede tires and put them on my old slash with 2200kv on 8s and it definitely woke it up on the grass. It does get hot quicker but if you are going for speed runs rather than an actual bash session it should be fine for a few passes. I'm not trying break any records but 87mph is my best on a 16yr old "backslash" off road and 123mph on the street.

@@erikastarling and turning shark at that speed will end in an even worse disaster.
That's a good tip my dude!
In the UK normally called steering rate
I respect and appreciate the work, time, and backyard engineering that this guys puts into his videos and projects.

Kev: “now we’re going to make the pinion gear a little bigger.”
Also Kev: puts a spur gear on
I didn’t even know they made pinion gears that huge!!! Lol
What makes Kev so relatable is the fact that he’s a man child, and that’s a good thing

I'm trying this too kev and yeah, tires are going to be a problem haha 😄
That RKO and front flip brake check at 4:30 was epic!!!
The amount of power that buggy makes is insane, not to mention the torque.

88 mph! I was expecting lots of Back To The Future jokes!! Excellent video!
Always get excited when kev uploads
Ikr me too
I was waiting for this video ✌🏻

Some people tape the inside of the tires.
Seems to be a much bigger hurdle than it initially seems. Keep at it!
Best night ever, watching Kevin Talbot at 3:30am
The drag race was hilarious I love it
hey Kevin I'm ur big fan. im really enjoying ur videos. love u man.😆
im so glad i found your channel, i have been enjoying pretty much everything that you have been posting.

Your going to need a center spool to keep the front and rear tires at the same speed.

Looks absolutely epic with the Tomahawks!!!
Gotta Respect Mr Talbot for having that T-Shirt on for 8 months, just to keep the video in context 😅
From New Zealand and highly approve .

Think you should put some better suspention on it (more ride height and softer shocks)
Also maybe some small spikes on the tires helps with grip

Snowboardcar is the king🏋♂️👋🇩🇪
With everyone trying to go 200+ on road you would think the tire MFGs would get serious about making a decent high speed tire for these things.
For those speeds, you need all-aluminum rims and a solid piece of rubber on them.
Absolutely epic speed buggy build. 🤘🔥✔️
Kevin your videos don't make me want to be the fastest just make my Rc better thanks for the videos
The Long board car is my favorite!!

Bit of advice Kev just do what you do I love the videos hope you get your 101 mph on grass 👍👍👊🏻
I am not an rc expert, but i think for the 200 mph car, you should do a burnout before the run to make the tires grippier
Yes finaly a project 100 mph on crass video

Crazy those Tyers still ballooned and died. Still great thou 👍🏻
Missed your Old videos!
Love these vids kev
Use braided fishing line around the exterior of the tires between the tread blocks to prevent the ballooning. Worth a try for a cheap price of entry
I bet there’s not a single person out there that didn’t go “oooooo” when he took out those new belted tires.7:02

Kev, if you really need some good Speedrun tires, try to attach some spikes to some grp tires, grp makes some of the best belted tires in my eyes.
Oh man.. how cool it would be to have that little red car...
Cant believe you didn't do a back to the future joke 88MPH 1.21 jigawatts
Spiderwire braided fishing line works well. It’s a pain to tie, but holds up well. 88mph!!! Just need a flux capacitor now.

Should i get the xmax or the udr?

I reckon you should adapt them solid 1/5 wheels. They wont balloon 👍
Yeah, if they're rubber, they will. Bugatti has the same problem at 1/3 the speed.
the genesys foamless ? it’s the only way to go
