      dave idmarx You might not like it but It’s a pretty succesful song.It was the most streamed song of any track released before 2010.And it never leaves the charts.Also Its close to 1billion on spotify.Its just not your taste but most people like it.With a success like that It would be fair to say this is a rock anthem from this century.

    It's pretty amazing how Brandon Flowers basically learned how to sing over the course of their career. You can hear the progression from here to Hot Fuss (which was still a little rough).

      @@adamdziedzinski6646ou’re 100% correct. He did and continues to take voice lessons. He got way better and his range got bigger. From 2012 to now, he actually sings the songs and stopped yelling so much for notes. He’s a great singer live

    All the idiots going "wow this sucks" are hilarious
    Yeah, Brandon has come out and said the he sucked at singing when the band started, and he wasn't even the original vocalist. Hot Fuss used a boatload of effects on his voice, and he put in a lot of effort and training to hone his talent.
    Go listen to any of their live shows post-2004, and especially the more recent live shows, and you'll see that he's a great singer.
    The voice is an instrument, and like with any instrument, you improve on it the more you practice and use it.

    Wow..... they didn't sound very good live back then. I'm sure they were still finding themselves and Brandon was still gaining his confidence as a vocalist as I've seen other live performances from them in later eras of the band and they're very good live. Just not so much here.

    the answer to brandon's 'poor' vocals is back then they were a raw punk band, which requires messy, grunge vocals rather than focusing vocals to be on key,
    people are only saying its bad now since they evolved in styles and improved , compared to a few established new wave, punk bands nowadays this still holds up!
