I completely agree about the rodent thing. It doesn't matter how "nice"(clean) your home is you can still get rodents/pests. Its the very reason why even people with clean homes have pest control come out. It is possible OP had some type of rodent because they have dogs. Indoor pet homes are susceptible to pests/rodents because of the constant water and food sources. I have an attached avairy with 14 various exotic parrots. I've kept birds since 2006...never had a problem until this past winter. Mice finally found my aviary. Between traps and my Siberian Husky we did get the issue under control but it has taken time. I'm not comfortable using poison because of my dogs and birds but yea, I definitely agree you cant rule out pests just because your place is nice. My aviary was beautiful, just built in 2019 (birds kept inside the main part of the house until then), but all the high quality bird food along with daily fresh fruits and veggies...add in the cold winter. Guess it was bound to happen at some point. I had a pot belly pig for over a decade, she got too large for the house so we built her a house with heat for the winter. She passed away in 2022. I honestly think she might've belped prevent the rodents. Anyway, its been a long time since I left a comment (totally miss the AITA debates) so thought I'd chime in.

My husband and I went hiking with our dog in a lightly used state park we had been to several times. No rangers were at the welcome center, but there was a sign-in book for hikers, so the rangers could keep track in case someone got lost. According to the book, we were the only people there.
We decided to take a trail we had never used before. Not long after we got out of sight of our usual trail I started feeling nervous. No idea why. Seeing new areas is part of the fun of hiking.
The farther we went, the more intense the feeling became. I started looking around, trying to see the source of the fear. Nothing there but trees, dirt, and rocks. There was absolutely nothing there that would cause unease.
We went a little further to a stream crossing, and the fear was so intense it was oppressive. It felt like a weight bearing down. I also felt totally ridiculous for being afraid of nothing. I stopped and took a good look around. Still nothing. I told my husband that something didn't feel right. He said, "I know what you mean." Our dog was staring straight across the stream and started whining. There was nothing there.
We noped the heck out of there in record time. We met no other hikers on the way out. Still no rangers at the station. I have never been back to that state park since. It's been close to 10 years since that happened. I would still like to know what caused us to experience that level of fear without seeing or hearing anything at all frightening.

I sleepwalk very occasionally, maybe 4-5 times in the last 30 years. The last time I did it, I woke up in the shower and had the exact same dread/fear feeling until I was fully awake and realized I sleepwalked again. Once I knew what it was the feeling was gone instantly

Back in 2013 or 2014, i was working in a factory right next to my place, it took me only 3minutes on foot to get there.
Between the factory and my place, there was only one building. No streets or anything, just one building. And I lived in the second to last house before leaving the city.
One day, i was leaving the factory and going home. there was someone else on the sidewalk, and naturally, had to follow them. We reach the building between the factory and my house, and the guy turns right and disappear into the building. Nothing weird so far.
Except the part where he disappeared. There was no doors or windows, just a wall.

I crapped through time. About 10 years ago at work I went to take my kidney candy to the chunk dumpster, and found that the previous thril-seeker had left their bismarck floating there. So I flushed it, and went about my business. When I was done though, there was no poop in the toilet. Paper sure, but that turd was just gone. I must've shat backwards through time and flushed my turd before I shat it.
