I totally resonate with her statement when she talked about being obsessed with memorizing the Bible. After years of trying to find a partner to memorize Scripture and being unsuccessful, I lost that passion. But I continued memorizing only random verses throughout the years that were especially meaningful to me. I ultimately abandoned the thought of truly settling down and memorizing Scripture because I didn't have purpose -- I read the Bible daily and I taught bible studies but I didn't -- like Keith Ferrin said -- internalize it. It wasn't until 2023 that the spark was re-ignited and I became obsessed with it and have been working at it nonstop (regardless of the fact that I still can't find an accountability partner who would be interested in doing it with me). It paid off because my church asked me to do a scripture memorization workshop. I pray that those women will acquire the passion, too.

Coach Dan, been telling everyone they will try to take our Bibles from us. I believe we are in the end times. It would be great if families (that includes Brothers and sisters in Christ) could each memorize different sections to piece the most important parts of Bible together in case of confinement or imprisonment...
I was truly inspired by Jill’s life story and what led her to Bible verse memorization. The story of how she overcame her Olympic dreams at only 10 years old, by doing a hobby a year, and then had a yearly ceremony afterward, was brilliant. At 69 years old, with old hobbies cluttering up my condo, I am going to use Jill’s ‘ceremonial’ ending from now on and retire these things that I should have let go of… love it! I can also relate to reviewing scripture while I was in radiation therapy for a month. However, I doubt I know nearly as many scriptures as Jill must have memorized by now. She has motivated me to be more consistent in my Bible memorization goals. I want to share a method that helps me when memorizing scripture into long-term memory which may help others as well. Joe’s Memorization Method: I adapted a real estate sales script memorization method, called the Magic Words Memorization Method (Author ‘Joe’, I lost the source other than ‘Joe’), for Bible scriptures and successfully memorized Psalm 16 in about a week. The method involves ten steps, including reading, writing, and using the first letter of each word. To transfer the script from short-term to long-term memory, repeat the first four steps 30 minutes before sleep. 10 steps: 1. Read the scripture aloud three times (I do small sections at a time and move to the next verse when ready). 2. Write it out in longhand once 3. Underline key words 4. Write the first letter of each word in the passage you are focusing on. 5. Read it aloud looking only at the first letter 6. Write it in longhand looking only at the first letter 7. Read it aloud looking only at the first letter 8. Write the first letter of each word again in your imagination 9. Read it aloud looking only at the first letter 10. Say it without looking at it Author ‘Joe’ says: Congratulations, you have installed the script into short-term memory! Tonight, 30 minutes before you go to sleep while you’re in the pre-cognitive state, repeat steps one through four, and while you sleep, the script will move from short-term to long-term memory.
Josh this is so true. I am healthy and 38. But I am motivated to memorize scripture to prepare for my inevitable illnesses/cancer etc. The Ark analogy is great!
Thanks for this interview, it was inspiring. I have started reading through Galatians every day since your interview with Keith Ferrin. I want to internalize the Word as well as memorize it and deepen my relationship with the Lord.
This is so awesome. I am a Pastor who struggles to memorise the Bible. I use to turn it to songs but that gets hard after a while. I tried the memory palace but gave up on that. Hope I can get better with time.
Wow! what an inspiration! I love the building the ark before the storm message. We are all going have storms in our lives it is better to be filled with the word of God than the waters of sorrow.
I just lost a childhood friend to breast cancer yesterday! Jesus be a fence around us. I pray I can learn Gods Word. I’ve been battling memory loss after Covid

A treasure trove indeed; the Word of God in your heart can become a fire that would consume all strangers in your body whatever that may sickness or disease. Remember that our God is a consuming fire Hebrews 12v29
So I started gung ho memorizing scripture and have fallen off. What I took away from this podcast is the fact that she grabs a verse and a commentary and not only memorizes the verse but plants the context as well.
I remember that same feeling not wanting to be like my parents, but I ended up sounding like them. I wonder if it is genetic - the same way that you have the same sickness? I pray that I would be the imitator of my Heavenly Father, and not my earthly one. In Jesus mighty name, amen amen and amen. 🙏 🙏 🙏
I would love to know the whole list of hobbies. I have to say there is no such thing as christian magic, though. It's an oxymoron. The Bible forbids this practice. Why would a believer want to copy something so evil? What fellowship has light with darkness? Look up the scriptures about that. 🤍
@BibleMemoryGoal All types of sorcery, witchcraft, and the like are disallowed by God. Any access to other realms outside of God's guidance and authority is sin. Its origin is demonic. There is no innocent "christian" mimicry of this. Believers have no business in so-called "christian" magic. It's an oxymoron.
Has God prepared you for some "flood event"? I know I've had mine and I wasn't nearly as prepared as I wanted to be. What about you?
I started to read the bible end of March this year reading the bible is my goal.
Great!
O God please create in me a hunger for your Word in Jesus

Great you have reignited that bible memorization passion. Look for no partner. Do it all alone and God will see you thrro

I started memorizing verses forty years ago. It has augmented my life. I recently restarted the habit.
Augmented?
@BibleMemoryGoal -to make (something) greater by adding to it; increase.

I have started memorizing the 28 chapters of Acts. Gone through the entire 28 chapters three whole times already ❤

Perhaps you should aim for some smaller sections of Scripture?
