This channel is SUCH a blessing. I’m currently working on memorising my first book - Colossians and am up to Ch 1 verse 6. Please pray for me to be consistent with this and complete it for His glory. Thank you for sharing so many valuable and intentional tips! And God bless everyone reading this and your relationship with the King of Kings as you hide more of His beautiful Word in your heart 😊♥️
Rest: There’s a lot that happens when you take a break from concentrating on something…you make different connections. Like when you are driving or laying in bed or getting ready in the morning and you randomly realize a solution to something you had been thinking so hard about before.
If you stood up in front of a church congregation and said anyone who has the book of Philippians memorized within one month will get one million dollars, not only would all of them memorize it, they would do it within 2 weeks just to be safe.
I felt guilt about resting from Bible memory. But I found that while I rested, I was taking in God’s Word in different ways. I usually moved on to reading large portions of the Bible daily for a whole Bible overview.
Thank you for sharing insight on this, Our Father in His Word says to meditate on His Words from the Bible day and night. It's like chewing your food real good. Ruminating, memorizing, thinking on it and then applying it. Psalm 119 promises if we do this we will be wiser than our enemies, wiser than our teachers, Hiding His Word in our heart that we might not sin against Him. Joshua and Psalm 1 says we will be strong and prosperous in all we do. A memory system that helps me is putting the verses to a melodious tune and putting verses up on the walls of our home, index cards. We also play an audio KJV Bible DVD with the words on screen as its being read throughout the day.
I liked your illustration on how your review system needs to be flexible, more time to review scriptures that are newly memorized and less time on those that have been memorized for some time. I stress this to those I have coached to memorize Bible verses or passages. Those that have been memorized for some time can be reviewed once or month or so, but those recently memorized need to be reviewed more frequently (i.e., daily, weekly, 10 days, 15 days). And if you mess up when reviewing a once a month verse, move it to your daily section for awhile, then gradually move it back to the once a month review section as you get more comfortable with it.
What do you think? These are the 5 habits that I've seen from my interviews, but I'm sure there are others you might add. Please leave a comment - I read them all!

Thank you so much, Marian! I really appreciate those kind words and hope that this channel continues to be an inspiration for you.
I’m also memorising Colossians but on chapter 3.
How are you doing on Colossians now that we are a year past your original comment?
I love Colossians! It was the first book that I memorized in its entirety.

That might be true…what are you trying to say exactly?
Anybody can memorize, we just have to want to do it badly enough
The Bible Bee in Texas is for 18 and under and gives the opportunity to win up to $50,000. Has a Bible memory program to prepare.
Rest is not failure. My most encouraging takeaway from this video. Thanks again, Josh.
