Thank you for the informative video. I thought the dishwasher pan failed, but was the inverter motor grommet. It cost me $7 instead of $700 for a new dishwasher.

This video and another video of yours saved my dishwasher, twice. The repair guy asked me about 400 for fixing it, my husband said we can buy another one when we have money but I don't want to wash dishes between now and then since everyday I spend almost an hour washing dishes so I decided to fix myself. It's my first time try to fix the DW but because of your great video I was able to fix the leaking problem. I could not get the old gasket off no matter how hard I tried so I just put the new one on top of it and I was able to put the part back and it worked!!! A week later the DW has no water coming in and I did the research, this time I fixed the problem again through your video and I cannot tell you how much I appreciate your help.

I had a leak for six months but it want enough to investigate until recently. I found your video, ordered from Amazon and just completed the repair. No more leaks! Thank you for providing excellent directions!
One note, I did not need to remove the upper spray assembly and was still able to complete access to the grommet.

My model is a KDFE104HPS0. This was exactly my issue. Bought the grommet at Amazon. Also bought hook tool at Home Depot. You definitely need the hook tool. I am really glad I followed your instructions completely. It took about 10 minutes and cost (grommet and hook tool set) $17. A service call which I scheduled was $135 excluding any parts. This is a winner! Thanks so much!!!

Another grateful viewer here! Between yours and Nutty Cool's video, we were able to fix this problem for around $20, including getting the right tool. We thought we were going to have to replace our six-year-old dishwasher. Luckily we found the leak early and our hard wood floor only sustained minimal damage.

Thank you for a great video! Fixed my problem. A couple of thoughts/ideas. On another site, I they recommended using silcone grease, supposed
to make the washer last longer. Also, I live in a neighborhood where lots of these dishwashers are installed. Our next door neighbor had this leak but did not notice it until it damaged their floor. They had to replace entire first floor of their home since could not find matching wood any more - this leak cost them tens of thouhsands! As a result, I installed a water sensor under ours, and it detected the leak almost immediately. No damage for us. I highly recommend installing a water sensor before you have this problem, ours saved us!

I'm yet another grateful "customer." Luckily, my dishwasher is exactly the same inside as yours in the video. Every step and all the advice worked exactly as you laid out. I ordered the same little grommet as you did and it fit perfectly. I took the advice of an earlier comment here about using a little rinse aid on the grommet as a lubricant and it popped right in place. Because all the parts involved are plastic, I was hesitant to pull or twist them too hard at first, especially as my dishwasher is now 6 years old and has had constant use. I was afraid that the plastic had become brittle from the water and heat over time. But I followed your instructions on using a flat-head screwdriver to gently push open the clamps. Thanks so much for helping me save hundreds of dollars in repairs.

Perfect. I had Sears tech come to house for $145 only to tell me I had to buy an entire new pump for $600 b/c they weren't allowed to replace the washer. The tech said they weren't even able to order "just the washer". What? So I did exactly what this video recommended. Bought the washer for 10 bucks off Amazon as well as a hook tool set for 7 bucks. Took me a little fiddling around to take everything apart but was super simple once I got everything apart. Replaced the washer, snapped everything back into place and ran the washer and ZERO LEAKAGE. Thank you for taking the time to film this repair. 17 dollars never better spent!

    Thanks.
Like the previous comment the grommet/washer came apart during extraction.
The seal has a tiny spring shape into a hoop embedded in the neoprene(?). There is also a thin metal strip around the perimeter covered by the neoprene. If after washer extraction you see metal lining the recess you’ve nor extracted the entire seal. The new one will not slide into place. All that should be visible is the uniform plastic surface of the rest of the housing. It took some work to get a grip on the metal to pull it out. What finally worked was a very small blade inserted between the metal and the housing wall. I was then able to grasp with some fine needle nose pliers and remove. Cleaned out the recess and the rest was as advertised.

I thought I'd try the cheapest and easiest fix first and a new grommet fixed the leak. I bought a replacement grommet from eBay and was kind of surprised that it wasn't softer then the one I replaced. It's a hard rubber and not soft and pliable. The grommet might be as old as the dishwasher, but it stopped the leak for now. One issue I had was that I removed both racks to allow more working room. When I tested it for the first time I didn't replace the racks and water gushed out at the lower edge of the front door. Put top rack in and it didn't leak. I don't know why this is this way, all I know is that it's true. I noticed you left the racks in place and worked around them. I should have taken the hint. Thanks again.

Great help. The seal is $10 and the part is no longer available from the parts supplier. Two points. One, the old grommet was disintegrating so I removed it in pieces. Two, the new grommet is slightly larger making the cover seal tighter. Initially there was a clicking noise until diverter seated properly. Thanks again.

    I did this repair today.
First things first, I tried prying out the grommet using a screw driver...it didn't budge. Went and got the pick tool and it worked like a charm.
Second, when I pried out the grommet with the pick tool, the grommet jumped out and fell into the hole at the bottom. I tried fishing it out with the pry tool and then with my finger but it kept getting away from me. This led me to curse, yell and get really upset. I took some time off and realized that the hole it fell into shoots water out to feed the sprayer arms etc. With the sprayer arm and white rotating disk thing off, I turned the machine on until the pump started, opened the dishwasher door and, as expected, the lost grommet had shot out and was resting on one of the heat coils. If you lose the grommet down the hole, do the same thing and don't get upset thinking you'll have the take the machine out to fish it out.

Hi. I replaced the grommet as you showed and my leak was fixed. However, since then I hear clicks when the dishwasher runs and it doesn't clean dishes very well. I am wondering if the grommet is too tight (or too deeply seated) and preventing the diverter from spinning the way it should? Should I have greased the grommet and shaft, or maybe used something like WD-40? Excellent video BTW.
